Did you know that the ancient inhabitants of the Canary Islands called their king “The Mencey”? Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey offers you an experience fit for a king in the only 5-star hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, just ten minutes’ walk from the city centre. This is why it has been chosen by monarchs, famous actors, musicians and artists. Enjoy this avant-garde hotel where more than 70 years of history have been respected by conserving the essence of its Canarian architecture. Relax in its gardens, its pool and the 4,500 m² of the SPA Sensations. We have two recommendations: experience the Papa Negra Sprunch, which combines 90 minutes in the SPA Sensations hydrotherapy circuit with an exquisite gourmet brunch. And to round it off, have a coffee in the Iballa, a true landmark in the city, which has hosted all the famous faces whose pictures line the walls.

We promised we would return; we returned. A wonderful holiday (again), with good rooms, lovely food, attentive staff and super places to relax. We were happy to sit by the pool reading for four hours per day, unless we were out walking etc. bar staff were polite, helpful and friendly, though a few struggled with English language…still way ahead of my Spanish. Little else to say except we shall return, again. Thank you all.

A gem in the North of the island

A one night stay to see what the North of the island had to offer. Stunning Hotel with very professional friendly staff who made us feel very welcome-will definitely return for a longer stay next time. Spotlessly clean room comfortable bed, garden lounge bar so comfortable we didn’t want to go out!

    Looking forward to coming back

This is a lovely place to stay. Delightful, friendly staff, excellent food (we has breakfast and buffet dinner there every day, it was so good), comfortable room with balcony, and a super swimming pool. The whole hotel is a tranquil haven where you can rest and relax. Parking is in an underground car park next to the hotel and cost €10 per day. From the hotel you can walk through a cool park with lush tropical trees to the centre of Santa Cruz old town, where the Mercado de Nuestra Senora de Africa is worth a visit, as is the Palmetum (a taxi ride away). A trip up to El Teide (volcano) is a must - truly spectacular - and if you’re happy driving vertiginous hairpin bends, take a trip to Anaga National Park with its stunning forested mountains. This is a world away from the barren rocks and tourist resorts of the south of the island. We’re hoping to come back as soon as we can.

    Food, Glorious Food!

A lovely hotel, with friendly and helpful staff, located next to a cool shady park and only 10 minutes walk to the main shopping area. However the highlight of our stay was the food. At both breakfast and dinner there was an amazing variety of top quality food available from the buffet. In addition, there were freshly cooked eggs (however you want them) at breakfast and in the evening a vegetarian, meat and fish plate of the day. My only criticism would be that if you don't use the QR codes you won't be fully informed about all the options. Be warned that it may not be as peaceful and relaxing at the pool if there are many children staying at the hotel. Designating a couple of hours as adult only would be a great idea.

    Great stay

We stayed here late March for 1 week on our honeymoon. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is very clean and nicely laid out. It's in a great location near a wonderful park which is very tranquil and only a short walk to the bustling town. We booked a double garden view room and we requested a high floor. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet with a generous balcony. The bed was big and comfortable, nice sized bathroom with walk-in shower. There were toiletries provided, along with bath robes and slippers and the room had a safe. The hotel has a fantastic gym, excellent equipment and not overly busy, only complaint was that you couldn't use it before 10am. Nice looking pool but didn't go in it, there was also a spa, again we didn't visit it. We did however eat in 'Papa Negra' and the 'Los Laureles' by the Pool. Both were very good and good value. We spent several evenings in the Hotel Bar and all the staff were friendly and helpful. It is a lovely hotel and we would be happy to return sometime in the future.
