Our time at Hotel Zilara was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived until the day we left we were surrounded by incredible hospitality and outstanding service. It met our every need of ultimate relaxation. The resort and Zen Spa were absolutely beautiful, but what truly made our vacation unforgettable was the amazing team of people who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. We want to give special recognition to some very special people who made our experience extraordinary: Salvador – Our Exceptional Lead Butler! Where do we even begin with Salvador? He was our lead butler, and he truly made our entire experience at Hotel Zilara extraordinary. From the very beginning, his professionalism, incredible personality, attention to detail, and genuine desire to make everything perfect went above and beyond anything we could have expected. Salvador didn’t just take care of us; he made us feel like we were the most important guests at the resort. His recommendation to visit Alux was one of the highlights of our trip. We recently spent a week at this resort for the second time in a year. As UVC Platinum members, we can stay at the resort for a week using just one VIP week get a beautiful ocean front room with butler service, so the resort is a tremendous value for us. There have been some changes since we were here last year. The resort was not crowded by any means the week we were there, so it’s possible that some of the changes, such as decreased butler service and lack of nighttime entertainment were due to low guest numbers. There are two new restaurant options for dinner, and both are very good. Lola Grill has Mexican options for dinner and all of the food we ate there over two dinners was excellent. Sabor Gaucho has a limited menu, but our dinner there was delicious. Dilila was our server at both restaurants and she was very friendly and helpful with recommendations on food and non-alcoholic drinks. Esperanza was the manager at Sabor Gaucho, and when she found out that it was our last night at the resort, she brought us a special dessert. These two women made our dinners very special. It’s unfortunate that the food at Capri Grill and Tempest did not match the quality of the two new restaurants. Pomodoro sauce tasted like they opened a can of tomato sauce and dumped it on the pasta. Alfredo sauce was watery and tasteless. Chicken and steak were overcooked at Tempest a la carte and Teppanyaki to the point where both were dry and tough. We ate at both restaurants twice and were disappointed each time. Breakfast and lunch were more successful. The buffet is small but had sufficient selection. There was a cheerful woman making eggs and omelets each morning (I unfortunately did not get her name). Lola Breakfast is new for Preferred Club and is a nice addition. The food was generally very good. We found Ricardo early in our trip and he became the server we repeatedly asked for at breakfast and lunch. He is a fantastic server and is very friendly. He was the highlight of our stay and we highly recommend him. We visited Coffee Republic multiple times a day for coffee and ice cream. Lucero was friendly and smiling even at 6:00am and made excellent lattes. The Preferred Club is also new since last year and we visited several times a day for a drink or snack. Arturo made excellent drinks for us there. Tania and Grace were our UVC reps and were very helpful with making our dinner reservations and with providing us with the daily schedule via WhatsApp. Thank you to each of these people. The beach here is beautiful. There was no sargassum on the beach even though we found quite a lot of it just a few hundred yards to either side of the resort. What little seaweed there is is taken away by tractor several times a day. The water is calm and warm. If you’re a beach person, you’ll love the beach.

The restaurant's food was very monotonous; there was no buffet other than breakfast. Mosquitoes were everywhere. The power went out twice, and they refused to change rooms when we asked.and The AC temperature control keeps needing to be reset. The water pressure is very low, and the water temperature fluctuates between hot and cold.
