Jan 12, 2026Worst ever Hyatt experience
The hotel was full and they did not have the staff or three capability to handle three volumes of customers. Breakfast was a zoo. Rooms are small and have totally inadequate storage. Staff were poorly trained and unable to handle the volume of customers. Terrible!

Jan 12, 2026Excellent hotel with wonder view of Darling Harbor.
Had a wonderful 4 night stay here last April, and just booked this hotel for our return in November 2026. We booked a king room with Darling Harbor View (recommended for a couple) and as Hyatt Globalist used an upgrade for a standard suite, which was lovely. The room had a narrow, but long balcony overlooking Darling Harbor Marina, and was conveniently located to the Opera House (although not visible from the room) and Circular Quay ferries, via a short Uber ride from the hotel. We had a nice breakfast daily in the hotel's restaurant, and enjoyed the Concierge Lounge with drink in the evening, again compliment of my Globalist status. The Concierge Lounge offered beautiful views of Darling Harbor from it's high floor location. The room was very nice and had a large stand-alone tub in the bathroom. We were on a high floor which was nice as it provided fantastic views of the Darling Harbor Marino both day and night. There are plenty of restaurants and bars close by, and the hotel also has several restaurants and bars, including Sailmaker where we went for dinner and drinks a couple times, and a busy rooftop bar as well. The rooftop bar was very busy when we went over the weekend, so we preferred Sailmaker's. We used the hotel for day trips around Sydney via Uber and Sydney's ferries, or one day via a private tour (we did not have a car). Taking an Uber to the Circular Quay area, we walked to and toured the Opera House one day and the Rocks area, and another day a ferry to Manly Beach. We had considered staying at the ultra deluxe Park Hyatt, but even using points which we have many of, much less paying the exorbitant room rate, we did not see a value in doing so, feasibly for the view and better location. We did take an Uber over to the same area, and got some great photos there if that's all you are looking for, plus it's very walkable for restaurants, bars and shops. The ferry ride to Manly and other beaches, goes right past the Opera House as well. We are looking forward to our return to the Hyatt Regency Sydney in November!

Average, and ok, nothing extraordinary. I have been advised that carpark ticket will be validated, but it was only 10 bucks out of 65. we have upgraded our room to highest expensive one to have the harbour view, and it wasn't worth it, I wish I could get what we have originally reserved which was a higher floor, just not having view of very average port. Staff in the rooftop were a bit arrogant.

Relaxed
We had a birthday staycation. Our check in person Arionele was amazing. So welcoming. Knowing it was my wife’s birthday he upgraded our room gifted us some drinks in the bar and did it all with a smile. Our bed was so comfortable and the room was perfectly cool on Sydney 42 degree day. We also got upgraded at Zephyr bar for our birthday drinks and dinner. The food was delicious and the Tommy’s were so tasty. Amazing stay

Jan 11, 2026Disappointed and unlikely to return
We booked 2 rooms and asked for connecting rooms. I understand it isn't guaranteed. I called in the morning and asked to get the rooms allocated. I was told there were no interconnecting rooms but they had allocated the 2nd room only a couple of rooms away. When I arrived around 2pm, I was told the 2nd room hadn't been allocated but they had one about 4 rooms away which they would give us. We checked into the 1st room which was ready early, they said they would call when the 2nd 1 was available. We went to the club access on lvl 11 and I asked about the 2nd room, was told no 2nd room had been allocated but they would fix for me now and it would be ready when I got back. Went out for 1/2 hr went to reception (about 3ish), surprise, surprise no room had been allocated and they no longer had a room on the same floor. Fortunately, another staff person, Xavier, stepped in and made a number of calls to get us a room on the same floor although it was at the other end of the corridor. It was admitted that we had done nothing wrong but 3 separate staff had not followed process by blocking the room for us. We were only there for 1 night and it basically meant we couldn't enjoy the time in our rooms together. I have young twins and rather than split them up my husband and I split between the rooms. We had a similar thing happen the previous time we stayed where they put us in different rooms and then changed us over on the second day to interconnecting rooms. We have stayed there a bit and hadn't had this sort of problem but the past 2 times have been really disappointing.
