Disappointing!
We are staying here a week, and I am REALLY disappointed! The front desk made a big deal about giving us a room with a view. We ended up with a great view of the front drive. They then said they would re-locate us, but apparently no availability. The room itself is really worn and dingy. I went to The pool to get out of room and there were no pool towels. When I asked the housekeeper, she was a little rude and said she’d get some when she had time. Meanwhile can’t use the pool or the hot tub. An hour later, and still no pool towels. AND the wi-fi is not working!

Think Again
Rooms are in need of service. They are old, air conditioning not working. Toilets don't flush or don't stop running. Elevators break down and you have to wait for one elevator for a huge hotel.Construction is going on nex door and is loud and they work all day including Saturdays. Management does not work with you quickly unless you are desperate! They do no honor your booking for a couple hour early check in and state they may not honor it even at the 4pm check in time, even though you confirm it by email and by phone ahead of time

Needs a major renovation...or, torn down.
I've stayed at this location over the years and I can honestly say that there has been no remodeling or renovation what so ever. The bar and food staff are reliable and nice. My experience with checking in was outstanding but overall the condition of the hotel is sub standard. The fitness center is depressing. I did take the bikes out for a spin though and they were brand new. Loved it.

The positives outweigh the negatives
This hotel gets a lot of negative reviews for being outdated. However, I actually thought it was terrific. Property could definitely could use some updating, but they kept it very clean and the location was amazing! Some other stuff I liked about it: -Bicycles, kayaks and paddleboards were a terrific benefit - lots of fun! -Biked to Lido Beach. The bikes even came with locks for while we were talking around. -Walked to the Sarasota farmer's market on Saturday morning. Super cool and well worth it. -Short drive to Siesta Key Beach, one of the best beaches I've visited. -Hotel is right next to a city park, which has live events, and walking trails. -Great fishing off their dock/pier on the property. Also, get to see manatee. So definitely a lot of positives here. The only negatives we experienced were: -Hours for the resort are terrible. Can't get bicycles, etc until 9 am and they close down by 5. Should be open until dark. Pool/hot tub area closes at 8. Should be open way later. -Hours for their shuttle service are also terrible. We wanted to have dinner at St Armand's Circle one evening, an area where shuttle service is provided, but the shuttle stops running at 4:30. Unbelieveable considering they charge a resort fee to use these services. Do they think nobody does anything in the evening? They should make them more readily available.

Don’t book
I don’t think I’ll ever stay at a Hyatt again, the rooms need an update very badly and for what we paid not worth it….. I hate to put all Hyatts down but this was the worst. I asked for more washcloths and they told us there was a shortage, 1 washcloth 2 nights, told me to use a hand towel instead, that’s just a few of the problems BEWARE
