Well positioned
Very much a holiday hotel, well positioned, clean and tidy. All the trams, buses, Street cars and even Waymo are local. Fisherman’s wharf has loads to do and eat. The boats to Alcatraz are 10mins away. Only issue was the breakfast is very noisy and the walls/ ceilings are quite thin, so the neighbours can we heard.

Great Location
We were very satisfied with the service at Hotel Riu at Fishermanäs Wharf, a well run big hotel in the heart of the tourist area near the wharf. The receptionists were definitely helpful and customer service friendly and efficient. They sent a maintenance man immediately to our room when we had a minor plumbing issue that was fixed easily. Our room was spacious, light and bright and very clean and so were the hallways, the bed super comfortable. The bathroom older and smallish. The all you can eat breakfast was great including a wide variety of choices: Fantanstic. We surely recommend this RIU Hotel.

Our Second Stay at this Excellent Hotel
This was our second stay at this lovely Fisherman's Wharf Hotel. We booked 5 nights in a Deluxe top-floor room on the Riu Hotels website for just £750, including breakfast (we are members of the Riu Class loyalty scheme and used our acquired loyalty points to get a £240 reduction in the cost of our stay, which was already at a discounted rate for loyalty scheme members). It is well worth joining Riu Class ! The hotel occupies an entire block on Beech Street and is easily found by driving along the Embarcadero (harbourside) and turning into the street. The property comprises a sprawling series of interlinked, attractive, 4-storey buildings. If driving, just then head into the hotel's driveway and then down into their underground car park, before taking a lift to the lobby. Parking - with limitless 'in and our' privileges is $60 per day. The lobby is spacious and also comprises a bar. Check-in at the dedicated Riu Class desk was efficient and we took one of the several elevators to the top floor and easily found our room. On entering, there is a good sized dressing room with vanity basin, large well-lit mirror and walk-in wardrobe. A door leads to a small bathroom, with with over-bath shower & WC. There was a range of fluffy white towels and complimentary toiletries. Walking into the bedroom, we had a very comfortable king size bed, bedside tables, lamps, an armchair, desk, desk chair and an L-shaped sofa. The view from the window was over the hotel rooftop to the buildings on Russian Hill. Even though situated in a busy and bustling area, our room was both quiet and peaceful. Other in-room facilities included effective aircon, a large flat-screen TV, digital room safe, hairdryer, coffee maker, refrigerator, iron and ironing board. Breakfast is a very impressive buffet, served in a large dining room near the lobby and comprises eggs, bacon, sausages, muffins, baked beans, hams, cheeses, yoghurts, fresh fruit, smoked salmon, juices, hot drinks, pastries and cereals. Something to suit all tastes and appetites. Housekeeping was immaculate throughout the property. The sights of Fisherman's Wharf, with views to Alcatraz Island are on your doorstep as are a bewildering array of restaurants, bars, souvenir stores and tourist attractions, including Pier 39, with its famous sun-bathing sea lion colony. Both Cable Cars and electric street cars pass within feet of the property - so you can explore the City with ease, using public transport - or drive further to see the Giant Redwood Forest at Muir Woods (30 min drive), The Golden Gate Bridge (10 min drive), or the State Capital of Sacramento (90 mins drive). Having stayed at several Fisherman's Wharf hotels over the years - we would consistently rate the Riu as best for location, amenities, comfort, security and overall value. Highly recommended.

Location and breakfast!
Pricier than other hotels? Yes, Worth it? Most absolutely! It’s all about location, room comfort, and of course, it’s beyond amazing, resort-style breakfast! The front staff is very helpful. All three elevators work wonderfully well and fast. The room was big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. Beds were comfortable. Very close to the Big Bus, but also to other public transport, as well as it is walking distance to major attractions in the area.

A Fabulous Experience!
Wonderful Riu! You know what you’re getting with Riu and this hotel did not disappoint! Artival and check in was quick, I’d asked for two queen beds when I booked but it appeared the room allocated was a king, however the check in staff immediately changed the room. Room was very spacious, plenty of storage, big TV, fridge, safe, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, hot water machine for coffees and tea ( go to Trader Joe’s a block away, great grocery store to buy tea and milk!) very comfy beds, bathroom small but perfectly acceptable, brilliant amount of towels etc. Basically everything you need in a room! We didn’t eat breakfast here, so cannot comment but it seems well received as the queue for the breakfast room was always long! All the staff here from check in to Bell staff to housekeeping are a credit to the brand, they are so kind and friendly and cannot do enough for you. Very easy to book a taxi with Prince at the Bell desk, taxi back to SFO was early and he was also very friendly! Overall a simply wonderful experience and I can’t wait to visit again and will recommend to my friends. Thank you!
