Great Hotel and close to French Quarter

I was a little wary of staying here, because several reviews noted the need for updating. My conference was at the hotel, so I went ahead. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was well maintained. They could use some cosmetic updates, but no signs of neglect or need of repair. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would not hesitate to stay there again. It was within walking distance to the French Quarter, but the street cars were convenient for further travel.

As Hilton’s go, let this one go.

The only two things I liked about staying here were oddly enough, things the hotel had no control over. The view of the river from the 23rd floor was awesome, and its location makes it convenient to everything, whether walking or using public transport. That being said, the first major disappointment was no executive lounge. Yes, we are Hilton Diamonds, and this is an irreplaceable benefit. The room itself was very small. No upgrade offered, although it might have been unavailable. The bathroom is SO small that there is literally a hair’s distance between the open door and toilet. Tub drainage was poor so we were always standing in water. Mirror is the kind that fogs up in two seconds because clearly, this place needs a major update. Escalators to the Riverside mall area were not working, which meant that a fairly easy walk to and from was a pain in the neck having to take elevators including a sketchy smelly service elevator. Long lines at the (kind of a) Starbucks in the morning and an onsite restaurant (Drago’s) which I’ll review separately and was really lackluster, I feel comfortable writing this review with four long nights left in my stay. With so many better options for hotels within a stones throw I would not stay here again if I had a choice. Do better, Hilton.

Lou was so rude - do not recommend

Just checked in - awful experience. Lou who checked me in was rude, and raised her voice when I queried the amount I was charged. She should not work in a customer facing role. To make it worse, my room smells of stagnant water. I can’t work out if it’s the tired wooden furniture that smells, or the dirty bath and shower. After 13 hours of travelling, all I want to do I relax in a nice room. Would not recommend

    Great location average hotel

Dated hotel. Scratchy sheets. First room smelled like mildew and had to move. Definitely needs a make over. Conference rate was close to $300 - not worth it! Location was great but everything else very average. Had a good experience with concierge - very helpful. In walking distance of French Quarter so really won't need a car to visit the main sights of interest.

    Quiet and comfortable

Comfort plus! Quiet, comfortable. Staff very accommodating. Good location; great view of the river. We stay there every time we go to NO. Restaurant downstairs (Dragos) very good but pricey. Starbucks on main level has great coffee plus deli snacks, sandwiches and salads, muffins, cereals, various snacks. Very available. Highly recommend!
