The staff in the bar area - Nick, Katie and Ruby - were amazing!! Charming and accommodating and so attentive and understanding! They made our stay so special - we can’t wait to come back and visit more of Scotland and stay at this hotel!!

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE BOOKED THIS HOTEL, only one elevator working so be prepared to wait 10 min to board a crowed elevator or climb the staircase

It was a good stay close to Royal mile. Lots of activities around the city accessible from Hilton Carlton. Also good hospitality from Rohini at the breakfast counter.

Great location, comfortable bed, and glad that we had a fan in the room! The breakfast buffet was decent. The water pressure in the shower was pretty weak, but the water temperature was good. Our biggest complaint is that the Hotel Staff consistently used the one working elevator that could access the 5th floor, while preventing Guests from accessing the elevator. On more than one occasion a Staff member was on the elevator when other guests attempted to enter the elevator, but were unable to, due to the Staff member (on one occasion with a cart of bottled water) taking up the space. They also often took the elevator to/from floor -4 which delayed the elevator for the guests.

Run down, overpriced and dirty.
Just arrived at the hotel. Completely shocked. Beware the hotel does not resemble the online pictures. The room is extremely rundown, dirty with scaffolding outside the windows to all aspects. We paid extra for a deluxe double room, however there is nothing deluxe about it. From peeling plastic headboards, wallpaper coming away from the walls, scratched work surfaces with exposed drill holes, stained carpet, broken air conditioning and grey net curtains. The wardrobe storage space for three people is extremely cramped and not fit for purpose for a five day trip. We had to move from the first room due to the strong smell of chemicals and lack of ventilation which caused an asthma attack. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend this hotel - it is definitely not 4 stars we wouldn’t award it 2 stars. Paid a premium price for a stay in Edinburgh for a special family trip which was a huge mistake and would not recommend.
