    Nice view, beach access

We chose this resort for a quick weekend trip. The property is decorated beautifully with tropical trees and foliage. The rooms were clean, the view was nice. The room we stayed in was in need of some updates but for the price this was no issue The food in the restaurants was good, the buffet had many options Checking in for ourselves, was easy enough, but when our friend who was joining us the following day because her flight got delayed arrived, we waited an exceptionally long time Paolo at the front desk, Clemente who assisted with our bags and Jorge and Ernesto at the concierge desk are definitely assets to this property and helped make our stay memorable. They were all professional and polite and you could tell they enjoyed working there and interacting with people. We did not end up booking any of the day tours offered as we had booked ours in advance through a third-party. I attempted to reach out to the resort in advance to see what their tour options were as we were not comfortable, leaving that up to chance and wanted to confirm the tour booking prior to arrival but they did not provide any prebook options The spa staff was nice and the massage was ok for the price They have a small gym that was clean Overall, for the price, we enjoyed our stay

Okay for what we stayed for

We stayed at Park Royal Cozumel for its central location for the Cozumel Ironman 70.3 as it was a host hotel and they provided a bike mechanic on site. The bike mechanic, Jesus, was AMAZING! The resort was okay. The food was decent and the room was clean. Some things we didn't care about were the food selection is very minimal but we were able to find something each day to eat. The clientele are 95% Spanish speaking, which was fine, but it made communication with people very difficult. Even with the Spanish we did know, we didn't get very far. Same goes for the staff. They are all obviously Spanish speaking, again absolutely fine as we ARE in Mexico, but in our past experiences coming to Cozumel for the last 30+ years, you are able to communicate with resort staff quite well. Not at this resort. The language barrier was quite a challenge, even with the okay Spanish skills we do speak. We had several instances where we would be waiting in line for either the restaurant service or bar service and if one of the other clientele came up and cut in line, they were served first. It took several times of this before we finally said "hey we were already here and would like to be helped". There is no smoking in the resort but we had an issue of a room neighbor smoking to which the smoke travelled into our room through the adjoining room door. We reported this issue but nothing was ever done so we had daily smoke until that family left for home. We also reported an issue with our air conditioner leaking onto the bathroom counter but that was never addressed. Overall, the resort was fair. We would stay again but only for a race or an activity that required us to stay central for that event. Otherwise, for vacation, we will choose to stay elsewhere.
