Very Good - Not Perfect
This is a wonderful resort. It is not perfect. It has its problems, but there is nothing that would stop me from staying here again. What we liked: The staff was always helpful and accommodating. Never once did I feel like we were bothering them. Everyone seems enthusiastic to help. The food is good by AI standards. The buffet runs the spectrum from garbage processed food to really good food. The full service restaurants (Italian, Mexican, and Steak House) were all very good. They do a Brazilian Style steak experience that was underwhelming, basically due to the grilling inconsistencies. The pichania was beyond well done and tasted like shoe leather, while the flank steak was raw/rare in the middle. I would definitely pass on this one. Pools were wonderful and the bartenders were easy enough to access. Mixed tropical drinks are standard AI sugar bombs. Beer offerings were better than other AI resorts I stayed at offering Dos Equis Original Lager or Dos Equis Amber (my favorite of the two). This is a welcome upgrade from the Tecate that is normally served at these resorts. If you like craft beer, you’ll need to wait until you get home. It’s hard to find here. The room was clean and comfortable and the balcony was nice. Housekeeping comes every day and they work very hard. There are different types of balconies so if this is important to you, make sure you address it at your booking. The beach is very nice if you’re into beaches. Yes, there is a considerable amount of sargassum and they don’t seem to rake it. Lifeguards at the beach are competent and definitely do their job. What we didn’t like: It’s the little things that need work. They have bottle filling stations for water on every floor but it isn’t refrigerated and there are no working ice machines. They had one machine on the second floor that never worked during our stay. We stayed in the Sea Tower. There are three elevators that move pretty quickly but if you’re on the 5th floor, you’ll only have access to one of them since the buttons are broken on the left elevator. For whatever reason, the right two cars are on different circuits. There’s no way they are unaware of this since staff use these elevators every day. Elevators took several minutes at times. The wine is atrocious. We don’t consider ourselves wine snobs but we found the wine to be exceptionally awful. I’ve had much better box wines. You will have no problem getting a chair at the pool as long as you get up at 3:30 AM, walk down to the pool, and claim a chair with a towel or personal item. If you wait until after 7, you’re likely out of luck. We went at the end of March during Spring Break so it may have been worse than usual. There were so many unattended chairs with towels it was evident that some people claim them but never use them. This is a common theme with all the AI resorts I have visited. This one is no worse. There was no hot water in our bathroom sink because the mirror was mounted so close to the handle that it could not be turned outside of the 12 o’clock position. Why? The floors are trying to kill you. The floors in both the common areas of the resort and the pool are absolutely ridiculous. I personally witnessed half a dozen “slip & recoveries” and two injuries. I am sure one woman needed stitches. I just broke a toe. This surface is absolutely unacceptable for a pool floor. There’s just not enough texture for your bare feet or footwear to grab onto. Check-In was quite aggravating. Our room wasn't ready. We kept being told to come back in another half hour which meant waiting in line multiple times. They do offer WI-FI but it’s very spotty and doesn’t work well in the pool areas. It was down the day before we checked out so we were unable to check-in to our airline without using cell service. I have no issue with kids in the pool but I wish they would segregate them from the swim up bar. Nobody likes pool water splashed into their margareta. Aside from the issue with the floors, these are all minor things that could be addressed. None of these things would preclude me from staying here again. We had a great time. Recommendations: Figure out how much sunscreen you think you’ll need and pack two additional bottles. It’s very expensive at the resort. Pack a stainless steel insulated water bottle. Mexico sun is hot and so are your drinks if you don’t keep them insulated. Bring a smaller insulated cup for your pool drinks. They melt very quickly in conventional cups.

Nice staff need more entertainment
Pros Location was nice. Staff was extremely friendly. The food selection was fantastic and delish. Be sure to ask how and where to use your resort credits Cons our room smelled awful. Especially the bedding -Guessing due to humidity - the pool was nice but seating was insane - you had to be up at sunrise to get a spot. Not a lot of entertainment - was disappointed about that. They don’t have an app that really works either . Spa people and water activity people hound you to purchase all day in the resort. Prices vary depending who you talk to. We also had an issue w a vendor that the hotel brought in - He told me the item was $2000mx. He charged my card $550 usd!!! I notified the hotel- issue is “still pending”.
