Nov 05, 2026Lackluster and Feeling Disappointed
For the amount we paid, this resort was a major disappointment. Our experience started poorly at check-in when we were assigned a room with two beds despite booking and paying extra for a king suite. When we showed our reservation, the staff were dismissive and insisted that a king bed was only a request. We were given a room configuration we had not agreed to, and our concerns were not handled respectfully. Getting dining reservations was difficult, and the frequent additional charges left us feeling nickel-and-dimed. Signage was unclear, making restaurants, amenities, and other areas unnecessarily difficult to find. Early-morning construction and noise made it hard to relax or sleep in. There were also children throughout the property, so couples looking for a quiet getaway should keep that in mind. Bars did not open or serve alcohol before 10 a.m., and evening offerings shut down earlier than we expected. Combined with the dining difficulties, extra costs, and noise, the experience felt restrictive rather than relaxing. The most disappointing part was how our room concern was handled. We expected staff to take our reservation seriously and help resolve the discrepancy. Instead, we felt dismissed. Overall, the service and experience did not justify the price, and we would not choose to return.

Great Place
Place is great. They need to increase focus on making sure majority of staff are warm and friendly. UVC reps should be trained now to be sincerely care about the member not just after for sales.

Not Exactly What We Expected
This is an honest review from an experienced traveler. The grounds are stunning. Well kept, well maintained, clean, and eco-friendly. The beach was also beautiful. Clean and plenty of chairs. Water was swimmable, a little rough this time of year. This is a perfect wedding venue and that is exactly what they cater to. The food is mediocre at best. If you have dietary restrictions, your options are limited. The quality of the food was underwhelming. Breakfast at the Preferred Club is very good, We had dinner two nights at Sandals, and the quality was much better, Entertainment was good. There was a variety for all ages. Shoutout to Alberto, who was an excellent guide on the morning bike ride, Can’t forget Mario in the coffee shop. Also thanks to Rosendo from the Gaucho Grill, Wilbert our breakfast waiter and our favorite bartenders Rene and Mario, who make the world’s best Mezcalita. Finally, to Glinda (the Good Witch), we are sorry that our paths didn’t cross earlier. Thank you. And to the entire staff at Oceana, Rodrigo, Martin and Chef Carlos, thanks for making our last night so memorable.
