Outstanding service and beautiful beach!
We had an amazing stay st this hotel! The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who made dure all our needs were met. The entertainment options were fantastic. The beach was beautiful, with some waves and no seaweeds in sight. There were several restaurants on-site, offering a variety of dinner options to suit every taste. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a wonderful family or only adult vacation experience!

Good, Family-Oriented Resort
I stayed at the Dreams Onyx the week of Thanksgiving with my husband, my parents, my two brothers and my sister in law. No children in our party, but my oldest brother has special needs. My parents are members of Hyatt’s Unlimited Vacation club and my brothers and I are beneficiaries. Like other Dreams resorts in Hyatt’s portfolio, I think this particular resort is better suited for families with younger kids or larger family groups who want a variety of accommodations in a single resort. If it were just my husband and I planning a trip, we’d be more likely to select an adults only resort instead, but this resort was appropriate for our family’s needs for this particular trip. I highly recommend anyone staying here to upgrade to the preferred club - the quality of our stay would have not been what it was without the provided amenities from that upgrade. Rooms Between the seven of us, we all had the same Junior Suite sized rooms, but with three different set ups - my husband and I had a balcony pool view, brother and sister in law had a swim up, and my parents and oldest brother had a private pool facing the adults only preferred club pool. If you’re in the preferred club, the private pool option is definitely worth the splurge. We used this space often to hang out with our large group, especially when it was rainy or we wanted a break from the sun. Overall, the rooms seem dated and cosmetic touch ups are visible throughout. The bed was not very comfortable unfortunately. Something to be VERY mindful of is that the floors across the resort are slick, but especially so in the rooms which caused near slip and falls daily with the humid climate. Food & Dining Food quality and variety were hit or miss. Breakfast at the buffet was chaotic and during peak times food would be picked over or not replenished frequently. We discovered towards the end of our stay that the buffet at Breathless was much calmer and better consistency with quality. Options at lunch were extremely limited as well, especially if you wanted to eat any later than 12:30-1:00. The a la cart restaurants available at dinner offered much better options and better quality - Bluewater grill had an excellent short rib, the hibachi table at Spice was great and the Mexican offerings at Tamarindo were enjoyable. The taco truck by the water park is a hidden gem with great tacos. Service & Staff Overall everyone on staff was friendly and professional, but two people in particular went above and beyond for us daily. Our assigned butler was Alejandro, who was always so kind and generous with his time and attention. He made a point to message us every morning and check on us in person at least once per day. He treated us in too many ways to list them all, but in particular he was especially accommodating to my oldest brother with special needs. The other all star of our stay was Nelis at the preferred adults only pool. Not only did she provide impeccable service, but she was such a joy to get to know over the course of our stay. Nelis and Alejandro were hands down the highlights of our stay. Housekeeping was the main area of service that we encountered the most gaps. We never could seem to correctly guess when to be out of the room in order to allow housekeeping to come in - some mornings it would be as early as 8:30-9:00 when we were still in the process of waking up and other days we would come back from a late breakfast without our room being serviced. We also had housekeeping come knocking a couple times late in the evening for turn down/towels when we were already in the bed.

Great Stay for Big Group - Preferred Upgrade Worth it!
We had a great time during our week here! Upon check in, we upgraded to preferred, which I definitely recommend. The preferred pool was very clean, elegant, and kid-free, with excellent servers who brought us drinks, food, and reserved our chairs for us. The preferred area also had their own lounge/bar area with snacks, and an air conditioned room in the buffet where you can also order a la carte. Overall, the resort was clean and had good amenities. Most of the rooms had a jacuzzi on the balcony, but the water didn’t always warm up. The dinners were good at the restaurants - the Mexican and Steakhouse were the best. You also can eat at Breathless for free, and the restaurants were a bit nicer there. The buffet was pretty good for breakfast, but I’d recommend the grille by the pool for lunch. The beach area was good for kayaking, snorkeling, and boogie boarding (for free) - just beware of the men with parrots charging $40 per person for a photo, and some other people trying to sell stuff. We mostly hung out at the pool, as it was much more relaxing. The waterpark with lazy river and water slides were fun too. Overall, great trip and would recommend.

Great
Our first time in the dominican republic and my whole family loved it!! The food was good and the workers are amazing they really make your trip! Peter, Inoel, and Alvaro were amazing during our stay and made us feel so welcome. The only thing we would like to see were more night activities there were only so many options each night and if you didn’t like either you were out of luck.

Punta Cana Fun
We spent a week at this resort for our son's wedding. We have been to other resorts in the DR, but I would definitely recommend this to anyone. I cannot say enough about the staff, everyone so friendly and willing to help you in anyway that they can. Alero and Noelyis at the main pool bar were awesome working hard always with a smile and a "hello everybody" The wedding took place on the beach, with the reception around the main pool. It was an absolutely beautiful night and perfect in every way. I wouldn't hesitate to go back
