Outstanding Vacation
This is an absolutely gorgeous resort on a stunning very quiet beach about a 30 to 40 minute drive from the bustle of Mazatlan and only 10 minutes from the airport. The first impression was excellent. The check in process was quick and there were no lines. Just a gorgeous open lounge area where they’d call your name to come up to check in. We were first off our transport van but all couples and families were checked in fast. The sun was setting on arrival and the Mazatlan sunsets never disappoint. I’d heard that there were huge upgrade and vacation club meeting pushes but we simply said no thank you on that first night and we were never once bothered. The rooms are gorgeous. Each room has an ocean view. You walk in and look straight out to the balcony where the waves are crashing. It is the best sound ever for falling asleep and for walking up. The resort is new so everything is modern, clean and comfortable. The shower is outstanding. The bathroom set up is perfect with the toilet behind a closed door so more than one person can be using the bathroom area. The mini bar is stocked daily with bottled water, beer and juice. There is also a nespresso machine. Sometimes that wasn’t restocked but the coffee shop was serving any kind of coffee you’d want from 6am, so we didn’t miss it too much. We had one minor issue in our room on our first night where the bathroom light sensor wasn’t working and the light kept turning back on. They were very quick to fix it and were so apologetic. I was a little worried being on what felt like the ground floor but it was actually fantastic. Such a quick walk to the coffee shop and a great view. It tuned out the swim up rooms were below so it wasn’t actually ground floor. The food here is spectacular. We hit the buffet for breakfast daily and it was one of the best ones we’ve experienced in our travels. Apart from your usual fresh fruit, pastries, buffet stations of eggs, meats, Mexican fare, and omelet station, there was a crepe station, smoothie bar and a charcuterie section. We never ate other meals here but heard it was great. The a la cartes were delicious. Meraki (sushi/mediterranean) was our favourite, so fresh and delicious. We also loved Portofino for Italian and Oceana for seafood. There was one meal at Oceana where our dishes were delicious but a little cold but we also got in late and the service and flavour made up for it. We realized a few days in that Oceana was also open for lunch and loved the lunch menu. We never made it to El Patio. There was a long wait the night we tried there as they seemed short staffed. We got our Mexican fare at Oceana and the Barefoot Grill. The pool area is gorgeous with most chairs having ocean views. My only complaint is the typical chair savers that would clip towels down to seats at 8am and then not show up until hours and hours later. If I had a recommendation it would be that staff remove those after 30 minutes if they’re not being used. There was an issue with the pool heaters for most of our trip and many complainers but to be honest we preferred it. It was a little chilly to get in but then gorgeous. It was so hot and sunny, I wouldn’t have wanted a warmer pool. Once one of the pools was heated, we tried it and went back to the unheated pool. The drinks at the pool were delicious and the service was great. The barefoot grill served up nachos, burgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, fries and chicken fingers and delicious thin crust pizza. The entertainment staff is amazing. Gil and Tury are absolutely wonderful and made sure to make all guests feel so welcome. The shows were good and we loved karaoke night and the casino night. The Rendezvous bar is amazing and often had awesome live music. Overall it was bliss. I will absolutely book here again for a chilled out resort vacation. Who this resort is for? Those looking for chill vibes, great food, long beach walks where it feels like you’re the only people on the planet, lovely views, chill activities and outstanding service. And those ok with making their way into Mazatlan by taxi or their own way into town to join excursions as not all tours pick up this far out yet. Who it’s not for? Those looking for loud pool parties and huge party vibes. People wanting to be close to town and anyone that feels not being able to ocean swim is a deal breaker. You can really only go in up to your knees here. The rip tide is too strong and the drop off is huge. The dolphins and whales here feel like they are right in front of the resort. Outstanding resort and such an incredible week. We are sad to leave today but so happy with the entire experience. We will be back.

Phenomenal overall experience
We had a very enjoyable stay at The Dreams Estrella Del Mar in Mazatlan. Our junior suite was spacious, clean and modern. The food was excellent with our favorite restaurants being Portofino and Oceana. Arturo and his team ( including Jose and Genardo) at Portofino went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic dining experience. The entertainment team led by Gill Edward and his phenomenal dancers provided top notch performances and personally engaged with our group of 6 both before and after their performances. The front desk, concierge and greeters also did a great job. Overall, we had a fantastic time and all staff members made us feel important and special. Thank you for a wonderful time, which we will remember for a very long time.

We enjoyed it, but it wouldn't be at the top of our list to see again
Overall, we found this resort okay, but not memorable. If I could sum it up in one sentence: It had a little bit less of everything compared to other resorts we've been to in the past. Pros: Rooms were well furnished. The showers were great! Great balcony views, including the sunsets. A few times we watched dolphins (porpoises?) go by off the waterfront from our room. (Tip: Pack travel binoculars if you don't already.) Food was hit and miss, sometimes even within the same restaurant. Sometimes under or over cooked, sometimes not hot. Not all of them were open every night. Service was erratic. Frequently, courses took a long time to arrive. Or a course would arrive without cutlery. It was more an issue of lack of experience on the part of staff, who were otherwise always anxious to please. There was usually only one nightly show, compared to other big resorts which typically have multiple shows. The acts were fine, and the band on the last night was excellent. There were a number of side activities… karaoke, trivia that were a mixed bag in terms of participation and organization. Pools and outdoor facilities were fine. The waterslides and lazy river were a fun touch. Lots of chairs for everyone. We appreciated that there was no 'reserving chairs' by obnoxious types who go out as early as the night before to stake out the best poolside loungers. Gym facilities were fine, layout was a bit awkward. We found resort staff to be uniformly friendly, no complaints there. Any minor issues seemed to be a matter of not enough training or experience. Cons: Too far from town. In the past, we could walk, take resort bikes, or jump on buses to local sites, towns, beaches. Sometimes all it took was to walk across the street to find a cab, or rent a scooter. None of that was readily available at this location. We noticed that many of the palm trees and concourse vegetation were dead, or in poor condition. My wife and I checked out the spa. We found it pricey, and their advertised steam spa -- the thing we wanted to do -- wasn't working. No going in the ocean?! Big strike against. Their website advertises "turquoise waters" and "Enjoy non-motorized watersports" which I take to mean kayaks and paddleboards. I tried to get a paddleboard, but was turned down by the staff. We were actively encouraged not to go in the water. Signs up and down the beach warn of jellyfish and stingrays. Weirdly, there was a lifeguard on duty at times. Or maybe he was just the whale watcher, on duty to ring the bell, who knows? The windy conditions. This probably had to do with the time of year. Very cool the first couple of nights.

Lovely Family Vacation
My family and I (my self and my three kids) were at this resort for two weeks in January. The staff at this resort go above and beyond in every way, making everyone feel welcome. Its clear that their priority is guests happiness. While its a quieter resort than we are used to, its poolside activities add a vibrant energy to the atmosphere. A special shout out to Luis- the heart and soul of these activities. His enthusiasm is contagious, full of good energy and good vibes, and has an incredible way of bringing people together. Whether is organizing games or leading exercises or chatting with guests, he makes sure no one gets left out, making sure everyone has a great time To note the nightly entertainment is not every night, though the nights that there was entertainment it was the highlight of our evening. It was absolutely spectacular. The Vegas style shows are mesmerizing with top notch performances from the dancers Turi, Fernando, Brenda and Julio. Each one brings something special to the stage, showcasing incredible talent and precision . Their routines are beautifully choreographed, filled with energy and passion and a professionalism that make the entire show unforgettable. The dancers charisma and connection with the audience really elevate the experience leaving us excited and eager for more every time, (ps. These staff also work during the day adding to the pool side fun!) Also to note, the beach at this resort is not swimable, which is kinda a down side, but on the plus side, there's almost no one on the beach. SO, you have the whole beach to your self!

Birthday trip!!
Very nice resort, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good and lots of options. The pool crew were fantastic! Marcos was one of a kind and never let our drinks get warm or empty. Lots of friendly staff all over. The coffee shop was wonderful, anytime of the day you need a coffee or chai tea latte I was able to get what I wanted.
