Terrible experience
The experience was the worst actually, I took my child for his birthday. Other than the entertainment staff telling him happy birthday he got not even an ice cream, there was limited food chooses for him. Not to mention that the check in was hours long. We got there from after 12pm, we were told we couldn't enter till 1pm then after getting into the lobby at 1 pm we could not check in until 2 then because of the ridiculousness of the decameron.com site, I had input 2 adults, a child and a baby but apparently the showed options for only 2 adults and because most of the thing was in Spanish I did not read the confirmation to see that the room was only booked for 2 adults. While I was checking in they pointed this out to me and everybody refused to help because it was all in Columbia's hands. When I input the 2 adults, a child and a baby in the system infront of the staff it came up with the same price and the correct information however I was still forced to pay extra. Nevermind I was on the line waiting for a Columbia rep to answer for an hour. I never got checked in with my baby that was only 2 months until 5pm. The food was tasteless, except the curry goat that was the only thing that had flavor and the desserts. Big up the bar, the drinks were good. And can't forget the front desk Supervisor that worked the day shift between May 16- 17 he was the only 1 that tried to help us at check in. Apart from that it was a terrible experience. I want the extra I paid back. Oh and we all got sick and had terrible coughs when we got home

Superb
Firstly you need to remember this is NOT a 5 star resort, nor does it claim to be! That being said, the rooms ( we had sea view cottage) were spacious and immaculately clean, if you wanted to be really picky you could find faults but I honestly think this is underpriced for the experience you get! The staff throughout were always friendly polite and helpful, the main bar area was a bit loud for us in the evening, but the jetty bar was just gentle background music coming across the water from the main bar! The food was very good for a 3 star hotel, plenty of variety and a good balance of "safe" foods for those who don't want to experience different cuisine and some exceptional local dishes every night. Lots of locals there which we felt added to the hotels charm and character, it did get a bit crazy in the buffet restaurant over Jamaican mothers day and the odd few people were obviously filling takeaway bags etc. That being said the reports on other reviews of the buffets being stripped every meal seemed unwarranted to us. the food when it did run short of a particular dish was replaced fairly quickly, and it was only right at the end of service that the choice would become slightly more limited ( very sensible way to avoid food waste ) The hotel public areas were very clean, the beaches litter free every morning, and the pools clean and tidy( we preferred the quiet pool because we're boring, but in fairness the main pool didn't get excessively busy while we were there.) Sharkies restaurant round the corner is worth a visit if you fancy a change of scenery ( not part of hotel) not the cheapest but my seafood boil would have fed the 2 of us with a side of carbs! If I could give 6 stars to the hotel I would, based not on luxury but on experience. Indeed, some people we met were regular customers, one person whose partner lives locally uses it as her base of operations when visiting, which I think speaks volumes for it's value.

Beautiful welcoming resort
The resort is amazing. The lovely little cottages set in beautiful gardens are lovely. The beach coves are beautiful with enough sunbeds for everyone but not crowded at all. The food and entertainment were amazing as was the service and friendliness of all the staff especially Akeem who served us at breakfast and lunch attentively. He was a hardworking, friendly, professional person who really made our mealtimes extra special for us. Also Davian the bartender who served us drinks with friendliness and a smile and a joke. Everything was wonderful and we can’t wait to return. Thank you

Great holiday, will go bk for the 3rd time
Second time here, fantastic place, comfortable cottage on the sea front. Food is hard for a plain eater. Don't come on mothers day/ be aware wkends due to locals taking over the dinning from and don't leave much food for the holiday makers but perfect in a week day. Staff are really friendly and would do anything for you.. we had a taxi driver Banton for the 2wks we were here he was reasonable priced (cheaper then hotel taxis) he even took us to a street part as his guests and it was fantastic. If you want a safe, honest driver ask for Banton.. alway parked just outside the hotel, he'll look after you brilliantly.

Run away to Runaway Bay?
We visited the Decameron in May as part of a group. The hotel is clearly a 3-star property—dated, with worn wood furniture—but it was very clean throughout. Just keep your expectations in line with its rating. Beach The beach is beautiful with minimal seaweed. Finding lounge chairs was easy, and staff were helpful in moving them if needed. Food Although it’s an all-inclusive, the food felt rationed. The breakfast omelet station offered only five ingredients, often running out (like tomatoes) within the first hour. My husband never got bacon during our five-day stay. Replenishment was inconsistent, and once items were gone, they weren’t replaced. The reservation-only restaurant was limited—you couldn’t order multiple items, and they were frequently out of menu options. The beachside grill served burgers and jerk chicken buffet-style during limited hours, but food was often cold and not refreshed. Room The room was dated, but the bed was clean. The bathroom was very old; our shower didn’t work and there was no hot water the first night, though maintenance addressed it quickly. Towels were stiff and basic—only bath and hand towels were provided (no face cloths). Bars - The swing bar was really nice. The bartenders in all of them were very good. But, alcohol seemed to be better during the week and watered down on the weekend when the hotel was busier. Entertainment- This was very good. But, would have preferred it went a little later. Nice touch was the resident night where residents could perform. Location- It is about 1 hr from the Montego Bay airport.
