    Don’t stay here!

Stayed here 25 years ago when we were married in Key West. Wonderful! We were so disappointed this time. The hotel is in the middle of a major remodel and really should not be open for guests. Our room on the 4th floor was hot and humid even though the air conditioning ran continuously. The fire alarm went off twice during our stay. The pool and restaurant are closed. We weren’t informed of that when booking. The last day of our stay they were hammer drilling ceramic tile directly adjacent to the lobby. The noise was deafening. Don’t waste your money. Go somewhere else until construction is completed.

Space and service need a lot of improvement

It’s an amazing location, but the space and service are far from ideal. There’s no notice on the hotel Web site that there is construction all day. Came back during the middle of the day to take a nap. That was impossible with all of the noise. When I stay in a hotel, I expect that I can use the room all day, not just at night. The person who worked the overnight shift wasn’t able to fix any of the issues we had with our bill when we checked out ~6 a.m. She said that she would pass the details on to the morning shift, but that apparently never happened. Among other things, we were: - charged for two nights of parking, even though we only parked the second night. - charged a resort fee for one night when the hotel couldn’t provide the services included in resort fee. There’s supposed to be a $30 food + beverage credit, but the restaurant had closed by the time we checked in. On the plus side, the room we had was quite nice. As a titanium elite, we were upgraded to a suite. That’s increasingly rare in the Bonvoy world these days. The hotel needs a lot of work both on the interior spaces and service.

    Superstar Staff Member

The location is perfect and the hotel itself is pretty clean and cozy. I did have an issue during one of my many stays here that didnt seem like it was going anywhere at first. But Michelle Cruz being the superstar that she is and always going above and beyond to satisfy customers greatly assisted with my issue following it through to achieve a good conclusion and making sure to update me along the way. Michelle's kindness and meticulous attitude towards resolving my issue is why I am a continued returning customer!

    Renovated historic hotel

The tallest building in Key West because after they built it the city passed regulations to prevent anything that tall from being built again. With a location right in the middle of Duval St, this can't be beaten if your goal is to wander up and down the street trying out your favorite bars. The property was in the midst of renovation while we were there, although it was not disruptive it was a bit inconvenient when access to the parking lot was blocked for a while. While they do have breakfast, we chose to go somewhere for lobster benedict instead. Likewise, they have a lobby bar, but it is open and not very inviting. The room was nice, but small. It had been renovated, so it was fresh and new. Worth staying at for a few days, but for an extended visit would try somewhere else.

Wish I had better things to say…

Probably should be 2 stars, but trying to be fair since the hotel is operating while under extensive renovation. Breakfast is more “motel” than “hotel”, fitness center is closed, restaurants not open yet, some limited service by the pool, but bartender also acts as runner, so long delays. Most of the issues were service-related. An issue with the toilet that was ignored, a valet/bell-hop who didn’t know how to provide directions (not familiar with the area streets), housekeeping that took hours to get done after requesting. Good location, lots of potential as many others here have observed, but you should stay at another Bonvoy property on the island.
