Disappointing
The linens and robes are threadbare. The rooms and balconies are in a state of disrepair. The towels in the rooms are cheap and worn. We've stayed here at least 15 times and this is the worst it has been. The service and room service has been great but the facilities for the price are insufficient to justify the cost.

Lots of amenities & great staff
The staff was exceedingly polite and helpful. Our room was incredibly spacious with a comfortable bed and a patio with an excellent view. There are a plethora of amenities. We really enjoyed the bike rides and pools and wished we had enough time to kayak, paddleboard & play pickleball. Overall it was an excellent stay despite our disappointment that room service was delivered in takeout containers. I do not enjoy eating with a plastic fork. The quality of my beet & goat cheese salad with grilled chicken deserved a better presentation especially considering the price. Also, the jets in the pool hottub could use an update/more power. That said, we really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the staff’s hospitality.

Run don’t Walk
Run as fast as you can in the other direction. This place is a dump. No other words. Complete disrepair that it should be condemned. Ambassador traveler with 200 plus nights a year multiple years. Realistic about expectation relative to rates always. This place literally is like a bad motel 6 somewhere in west Texas off rte 66. Night one “upgraded” to a bungalow which is not in the main building but rather down a dark road with a security gate (key activated). Get back in the rental car, repack the luggage, and find our “bungalow” eventually. Completely sequestered in what felt like the bates motel. Large living room, bedroom, and kitchenette (microwave) but smelled like mold and had old spiders webs peppered about for you to randomly find by surprise. Fun times! Exhausted from full day of travel and day of meetings so we just showered and passed out. Wake up following day and it’s pouring rain so we call room service at 6:30am for coffee delivery but alas restaurant not open until 7am. Ok that sucks but I jump in the car to drive up to the main building to grab coffee in the coffee shop. Enroute upon getting to the security gate to exit the “special” area I receive a notice on the gate pad saying “card key not authorized”. Did i mention it was pouring rain? Pissed I put it in park. Turned off the car. Walked up the hill in the rain at 6:30am to inform a disinterested staff member of the issue. They couldn’t care less that a guest is soaking wet but rather informed me that I would need to move my vehicle from the security gate so other guests could pass. Nope. Got my coffees and breakfast and only then Proceeded to walk back down in then rain to my vehicle. Seriously!? Not an apology or any effort to appreciate how rediculous this situation was. Demanded a room change to the main building for the balance of the trip (5 nights). Get a room which worked better logistically but keys decoded again requiring more treks to the front desk to gain access to a room with ZERO hot water. Like an episode of candid camera staying here. I can’t believe they rate this a resort let alone a Marriott. Do not stay here! $500 a night for what was a $99 room. Will be checking out in the morning and heading back to city center to something better suited for human habitation. I wouldn’t board my dogs at the Marriott Coronado. You shouldnt either as it would be deemed animal abuse.

Ants was all over bathroom and our bed. $699 a night for insects ???
I travel so much through my business and never expended Marriott service this bad. My room as a Gold Member business traveler had ants all over cloth and bed. I notified the front desk and they said they won’t discount $699 per night and they did nothing about it. The front desk was not even sincirely apologetic. Hotel is not upgraded or clean either , hallways are collecting water. There is no screen for insects on sliding door that opens either. I won’t book this if you like to experience San Diego . They only charge so much because it’s close to Resturant . The Restirant food is not quality in hotel either .

Not up to Marriott standards.
I don’t like to write poor reviews because it’s hard on the business, however, this Marriott needs some help, soon. I read through ,any other reviews and really I a, just confirming what other people have said. First the employees are excellent and try to help with what they have and the resort is a beautiful facility in a perfect location. The problem is this resort is very, very tired. I was there on business so I had a lot of friends to ask their opinions and they all agreed with me. The carpets are just disgusting and stained and should have been changed years ago. The pillows make better doormats. I hacked a big gash in my leg from a piece of steel sticking out of the bed and room smelled like cat’s litter box. It was a large meeting so we had very bad and stale banquet food. The restaurant is horribly overpriced and only has occupancy for about 30 at lunch and dinner. The bar is very small also. I recommend not eating here. There are many restaurants only a five-minute walk down the path. I stayed in a Marriott in Houston the night after, just fine. Tonight I’m in a Westin in Panama City and I know it’s what I expect from Marriott. If you want to go to Coronado, wait until they remodel.
