Rooms and property need an upgrade.

My wife and I have been visiting the San Diego area for decades. For a long time, we stated at the Hotel Del, but problematic quality and high prices drove us away. Our go to hotel became the Coronado Island Marriott Resort. We have stayed there for a long time, even when it was a Le Meridien. The hotel has a lot going for it including location and a lap pool. Unfortunately, the rooms and property need an upgrade. Not sure if we will stay there on our next visit.

what a complete disappointment and waste of 50K Marriott points

Wow Wow Wow, what a complete disappointment and waste of 50K Marriott points. I was on a work trip with my wife and we decided to splurge and stay on Coronado with the hopes of a nice night with the skyline in the forefront and a nice meal and drink. They did give us an upgrade to an executive suite, but that was also a huge disappointment. 1. The hotel is dirty, old, and filled with goose/duck dropping all over the 3rd floor. 2. One person to check in a line of guests 3. Our room was old and dated and had the musty smell of a lake home that had been closed for a year. 4. I had to send back our diners because the fish smelled old and the lobster I got was rubbery....we did get the attention of the manager, but not even a free drink for the trouble. They did bring me out a charcuterie board that looked terrible. 5. Outside looked old and not well taken care of And the best...$59 for valet and only $10 less for self-park. I would absolutely never pay the rates for this place and moreso would never give up my points,

Not well maintained property. Life safety program and risk management fails. No place for seniors.

Beach poorly maintained. Patio with retaining wall that lacks guard rail. 7 foot fall to beach put me in hospital needing neurosurgery. Two red flags at front desk and a call to G.M. With no risk manager response. Cost me a set of glasses, a new IPad and a month of lost work. Needed to stay night at hotel awaiting transport home, retail charge for night.

Nice clean room. Furnishings can use updating. Parking is expensive. Breakfast was good - Salmon Benedict and Avocado Toast. Attentive breakfast service. Nice walking trail along the water. Pink Flamingos in the front pond. Nice curb appeal in a residential area.

More like a “Motel 6” resort

There is not a single unstained carpet in this “resort”. That sums it up. Everything is shabby. Even the luggage cart looked like it was thrifted. We booked two rooms and stayed 5 nights and will never return. Water stains on the lampshades, WiFi that didn’t work for two days (yes we reported it) and gross stains on carpets in the lobby and in all the rooms. This is NOT a property that is up to the Marriott standard. We stayed at The Steward in Santa Barbara before visiting this property (excellent and well worth a family visit) and stayed at the Vespera in Pismo Beach afterwards (also highly recommend) … but this property on Coronado Island was NOT up to the standards of either of those properties.
