Good but not great Fort Lauderdale Beach hotel
4/5 overall. Solid, competitive hotel with some disppointments. Our room was on the 8th floor, 2 queens with ocean view and balcony, but looking down at the loud bar below. Fortunately the insulation is terrific with the balcony door closed, as is the very quiet AC. This is not a good location, as you could also hear the AC equipment on the roof protruding below, instead of the sea, if you sat on the balcony The room had a mini-kitchen with a stove top, microwave, espresso machine, fridge, sink, and a few basic dishes and silverware. Plus, the hotel offered room service all day. Oddly, there was no table at which one could eat any of the cooked food (unusual, for the price, given the kitchen set-up). You could eat on your bed, or one person could eat at the slender dresser area under a mirror, but there is no desk chair. Enterpresing guests could drag in a little end table from the balcony to eat dinner at. There is no convenient nearby market to get groceries at on foot, so you better bring a car and load it up if you plan to use the kitchen (and pay the $48 a night valet parking fee). The beds were comfie (4 pillows on each), the bath had a huge tub and also a shower attachment that could be stretched out of the tub for a rinse, plus a full-sized 2 person shower. Oddly C was on the left and H on the right of the temperature adjustory (I suppose the person who installed it was thinking "C" represented "caliente" in Spanish, given most construction workers here are Latino), but worked well. A nob was missing from one of the lamp start/stop nobs, but otherewise everything was well-maintained. Service was polite and friendly but a little disjointed (I told 3 housekeepers I did not want any housekeeing today, no one seemed to be aware that I had told the previous hostess. The front driveway where cars, taxis, and Ubers pull in is a mess of valet parked cars on a weekend and very difficult to navigate in this popular location, just be aware you may be asked to walk a few feet up a gentle slope. The pool is big, heated to swimming temps, in a center courtyard with towel attendants and a nearby bar. But I hated being there, because they pumped in loud pop screeching music or rap, which was not relaxing. The gym was open in the evening, not a soul there (had the usual gym workout equipment, water, towels, and fresh apples available, clean). You had a $25 per person (up to 2 people) per day food credit at the hotel service centers but it is hard to use if the only decent restaurant is packed and loud. We settled on abundant snacks from Cornucopia misc. Market to use up the credit. There is a Japanese restaurant on site we could not get into on a weekend, totally packed and very loud. To get to the beach you cross in a crosswalk across a main road. There is very little walkable beach when the tide is in (steep dropoff from deep sand to the water), not great for swimming. The hotel is fine but not great, especially for the price.

Everything you need!
First time actually staying in Ft Lauderdale and couldn’t have been more pleased with the stay, and staff at the Conrad! From Clams warm welcome and run through of hotel offerings at arrival, to Doris (Asst Dir) seemingly always available with a smile! Didn’t realize when booking rooms were all suites which was nice to have. Location was great, just a short walk from the vibrant nightlife of Las Olas. Great walking across the street with resort fee offering beach chair and umbrella service was that much more relaxing! Gym equipment was in great shape, looked new with 3 pelotons - cold towels to cool off - nice touch! As they say, you get what you pay for and the team delivered. Thank you!

NICE HOTEL BUT GREEDY STAFF
I am a diamond member of Hilton and asked for late checkout. It was denied but I could purchase it for $200.00. What the ----? If it was an availability issue I understand but clearly is was an issue of GREED!

AIRBbB or VRBO
Warning if you are doing a VRBO/AIRBnB You will be treated as an inferior guest and actually discriminated against despite having to pay the resort fee & rental fee. Our room was very nice but hot tub was broke (not disclosed despite the “resort fee” you have to pay) and toilet sounds like screaming cat when flushed. Be prepared to pay $5-6 for simple soft drink. Due to our late flight, we also asked if we could pay resort fee for Sunday (due to fact we have “PR” - private renter status next to our name) we were told we must vacate premises by 1101a. We were forced to contact a Marriott property close by who gladly took our money for the 6 hours. We are not a “Karen” and can’t believe if you rent here (not booking a hotel room) how bad you are treated.
