Heavenly place to stay, along with our son and daughter in law!
We loved our week at the condo at Kiahuna Plantation! Donna Bender of MauiCalls located and booked the property for us— awesome service as always! We had a fantastic view to the beach, lovely lanai to watch sunrise with our coffee and sunset with mai tais. Beautifully decorated and furnished 2-bd, 2-ba unit with gorgeous landscape, lots of convenient restaurants and shops, besides fabulous beaches! We’re ready to go back!

Loved it
You can tell this was once a plantation because the gardens are loaded with fruit trees and beautiful flowers. The whole place feels very rural, and the beach is right there. We had a condo with AC but there was actually no reason to use it, because the weather was perfect. The view from our condo was completely awesome, just the perfect distance to enjoy the sea but not so close that it was super noisy from waves. Bed was really comfortable and slept like a baby. We had very fast internet which was good because I did have to check in with work a couple times while there. The mobile data in the area is a little spotty so the wifi in the room is important. We took advantage of having a full size kitchen and also used the barbecues out in the garden. Best steak on the island is from Costco btw. It’s kind of hard to find good meat in other groceries which seemed a little odd. There was tons of free parking so no concerns there, and they even have chargers for electric cars. We played golf almost every morning. The course is within easy walking distance. The Sheraton next door had a luau on the beach one night so we just walked over and enjoyed it from the public beach. My wife is a coffee addict so she went across the street every morning to Little Fish and got her fix. Unfortunately she also knows how to get to the shopping from there as well, ha ha. There is a small short path through the jungle between the coffee and the shopping village (pro tip). There is crosswalk from the Kiahuna parking lot that leads to both the coffee, shopping, restaurants, and the athletic club. We watched a Jimmy Buffet cover band while sipping Margaritas one night at the athletic club as well. Different nights had different music. I recall 3 live bands in a week but maybe there were more. This South East corner of the island is good for getting to most attractions. The only thing really far away is the North End near Princeville. I definitely recommend renting a car to see the sights. My only complaint is that we had one rainy day. Great stay. We will be back next year.

The Real Kauai Experience
We love Kiahuna Plantation and have gone there for many years. The gardens are amazing and the Condos feel like a luxury treehouse. We love the open air construction, and the beautiful tropical hardwoods, and can hardly tolerate going into a stuffy hotel room after staying there. The beach is right outside your door, and there are many great restaurants within walking distance, but even though there is retail nearby the whole property is very chill and it never feels crowded. It feels like you are in the country side because you are kind of. Its a very different experience from being at Waikiki. The whole property is in the classical tropical style with shutters on all open sides to let the tropical breeze and the scent of fragrant flowers be your environment. The hotels nearby are monsterously expensive and the condos are way more affordable and better in my opinion, so I can't imagine why anyone would stay somewhere else, especially if you are bringing family.

Have Low Expectations and You Won't Be Disappointed
Have low expectations.... This basically a very tired vrbo, with zero amenities (e.g., no on-site pool) zero housekeeping, zero air conditioning and rather unpleasant staff. You make reservations for a particular unit. So if you can figure out which one you want (some do have air-conditioning!), you should see if that particular one is available. Overall, I would say that this is a place that needs some love.

Hot and noisy
Rented through Outrigger. The grounds were nice and the staff were very friendly. But our unit left much to be desired. As soon as we opened the front door there was an overwhelming mildewy smell and it permeated the entire unit. I think it is because the unit doesn’t have a/c and is not well ventilated. Although a standing fan was provided the unit was very hot in the afternoon. The ceiling fan seemed stuck on a low setting. The noise from the main roadway was also very loud even into the night. The kitchen was equipped with basics but the cookware was pretty beat up and there weren’t enough of basics like coffee filters. The furniture on the lanai looked dirty and the tabletop had a crack in it. I frequently stay at other Outrigger condos throughout the islands and have really enjoyed them but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll return to this one.
