Really makes you appreciate going home
If you enjoy the ambiance of a failing 1970's warehouse supply store accented by scratched up wooden furniture and cracked tile flooring, then you'll love the rooms at Calypso Cay! Here are some of the other lovely amenities: 1. Glade plug in scent = dead flowers & loneliness 2. No ice machines (Upon inquiry I was told they are not legally required to provide them) Even the ones in the fridge are intentionally disabled. 3. A closet so skinny my grandma tried to feed it. A normal hanger won't fit in it with the door closed. 4. Worst luggage carts ever. I'm guessing they were found in the dumpster of the Holiday Inn next door. 5. The incredible sinking couch! A Scoliosis lovers paradise. 6. The mystery of the missing fridge shelf! Seriously. Where did the fridge shelf go? 7. Claustrophobic kitchen with super sketchy utensils 8. $14 Mai Tai pool drinks. Dollar Tree room decor. 9. So much brown. But to be fair, maybe the curtains, carpet, and paint used to be a lighter shade 25 years ago. 10. Walls so thin, they only have one side. Does your neighbor love their family? You're going to find out. And the best thing offered at Calypso Cay... Early check out. Because if you stay here, you're going to want to leave early.

Excellent stay
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, one of the multiple hotels available. The location is great as it is very close to Walt Disney World, Interstate 4, one of 3 outlet malls available, etc. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, great view, at least in my room, to see fireworks from Disney. Breakfast is great and varied. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We just stayed for a night due to a concert event we went to see but has many options to enjoy at the resort, including multiple pools, rock climbing, etc.

Pools are nice, but rooms themselves are old.
The resort didn’t have fitted sheets, but when we asked for a fitted sheet the person was very nice about bringing us another flat sheet. Our room was near the hot tub so it was loud at night. Could also hear people running around upstairs. Definitely need a sound machine to block out noises. The zip line area was an extra charge and the person that was supposed to run it wasn’t there at opening time. Not sure if they ever showed up. Pools were nice but are shared with another hotel, so often we’re too crowded.

So much potential too much noise
The noise was HORRIBLE!!! I spoke to Robert at the front desk about the excessive noise on the top floor and in the bar. They really should warn you that if you are in building 5000 the music is SUPER loud at night. First he said the maintenance person didn't hear anything then he sent security. Security heard the noise. The music stopped but the people were loud until about midnight. We were woken up by the mowers. I called and spoke to Carmen the next morning to talk about my experience. She said someone would call me back, no one did. They should care more. The three stars is because housekeeping did a great job and the room was very nice.

Clean, comfortable accessible location with good amenities
Because my family was at a Disney resort connected with my niece's wedding, I was able to stay here by myself for 3 1/2 days. It was a heavenly stay! (In real life I live in a smallish studio so I appreciated the extra space and all the quietude...).. I loved the screened-in porch off the living room with view of trees (where I had relaxing meals), the clean kitchenette with fridge, microwave, and dishes, and the washer/dryer. The bedroom was comfortable as well, and there was a hot-tub-like tub that I didn't have time to use but which would be relaxing. I also didn't have time to use the pool with all the park-hopping but chilled out once on a hammock near it. There's a Walmart a 10 min. walk away where one can get very discounted Disney souvenirs! I'd stay here again if given the opportunity. The tour people gave me a super helpful extra gift card for local use. The timeshares are more modern and worth it than historically they tended to be (using a point system and easier booking procedures). My only suggestions: 1. Consider a better map from the sign-in center to the actual hotel (just a tad confusing at first) 2. If someone has a multiple day stay, provide more coffee packets in the kitchen! (Otherwise the guest will run out). and 3. In the bathroom, there was shampoo and soap but no conditioner, so it'd be great if that was added. Great location - thank you to the staff!!
