Wonderful place to stay.
The rooms were spacious and very clean. The washer and dryer were a super bonus. The kitchen was well laid out and perfect for our stay. Loved being on the 4th floor just across from the elevator. The pool and the Tikki Bar were just steps away from our exit of the elevator on the ground floor. Tikki Bar service was great and the food was good. The hot tub was large enough to not feel crowded. When I had an issue with the hot water not getting hot the maintenance person came and fixed it immediately. The location was perfect for the Orlando attractions like Disney World, I also picked this place because it was close to the airport.

Don’t stay if you don’t have to
this is a LONG REVIEW but it’s honest and hopefully helpful. I tried breaking it into sections. My review of capital vacations and the resort itself. OVERALL I booked this stay through capital vacations as they now own the property. I received a “free” 4 day 3 night stay as long as I attended a sales pitch. Beware of hidden fees and up charges for things like turn down service in the rooms. The pictures show what you’re likely to get. We stayed on the 2nd floor. I was told they’re updating rooms starting at the top so try to get a 5th floor room if you can. CALYPSO CAY With that being said, I don’t recommend staying here and furthermore I wouldn’t purchase anything from capital. The water smelled weird ? (Idk if that’s a Kissimmee thing or a calypso cay thing). The carpet and bedding was visibly stained making it hard to be comfortable here. Our dryer didn’t work, we called for service and waited about an hour before we just left. The resort itself wasn’t anything special either. Maybe for couples with small children for a weekend getaway ? But even then I don’t think it’s worth it. CAPITAL VACATIONS The salesmen I was assigned was personable and likeable enough. The pitch is actually convincing. I went in knowing I wouldn’t be purchasinf a timeshare but after the presentation and a talk with our salesmen I found myself wanting to know more and trying to make it make sense lol. We start out talking about $50k for their vacation package. After about 7 no’s we got all the way down to 8k but of course you have to buy right then and there. Most people know these time share and cavation rental companies are quite “scammy” but if you don’t know, just use your judgement. If someone pressures you into a HUGE decision, maybe not a good idea. If the price gets lower and lower with every “No”, it’s probably not a good idea.

Dated Properties
Very dated apartment and not too clean, especially the carpets and sofa. Sofa has a musty smell. What’s worse though is how dark the walkways to the rooms are at night - no lighting!! Looks like the original furniture and never been replaced or updated. Try with little touches but sadly this falls short as the apartments are so dated. Luckily we are only here for 2 days and out for most of the day - so just a place to sleep and have a shower. Sadly can’t recommend calypso cay which is a shame. In dire need of some ‘tlc’ and modernisation.

We had an excellent experience at Calypso Cay. Property is gorgeous clean and welcoming. Tiki Bar is a must do. The pools are fabulous. Room was clean well stocked with anything you might need for your stay. Staff was very kind.

Big Disappointment
Unfortunately, this was rented through a "vacation package." We were immediately disappointed by being charged $25 a day "resort fee." Although we were allowed in our room upon arrival, our room had a lot of drawbacks, including: (1) We couldn't access the closet as the door was blocked, (2) no bathmat. We were told if we purchased one we would be reimbursed -- we weren't, (3) the screen on the porch was ripped, (4) no room safe. We were told they didn't need it as no one would enter our room without our permission. We left the room and came back to a bag of bedding dumped in the hallway, without our knowledge or request, (5) the wall switch turned off the clock, (6) the toilet didn't fully flush -- there is more, but I don't want to beat a dead horse. I will say, the room was large. Otherwise, I would not recommend this hotel.
