Pros • The hotel looks exactly as pictured on the website and the decor/ambiance was inviting, and it had that signature Marriott hotel smell. • The staff were great. From the bellmen, to the front desk staff, pool/beach attendants, and servers, everyone was very professional and accommodating. • Room looks just like pictures on the website, the double bed room had enough space for 2 people without feeling cramped, and most important, the room was clean and the beds were comfy. • The pool area was bigger than many Miami Beach hotels and had games like giant Connect Four, and bean bag toss. • The food at Donna Mare and Bungalow was yummy. Cons • My only gripe with my stay was the tub/shower. It had set-in stains on the tub that have been years in the making. Worse than that the tub/shower used a long white cloth shower curtain with no inner lining, so 2 things happened: when left to drape on the tub/shower floor it got dirty quickly and easily, or when folded so it that it draped on the top of the tub, the bathroom floor got soaked. I hope that the owners or managers will be redoing the tubs/showers soon so that they are new and have fiberglass doors instead of cloth shower curtains. All in all, I really enjoyed my hotel stay and the next time I decide to vacation in Miami Beach, I'll defintiely consider the Cadillac.
The ole bait and switch
My wife and I specifically picked the Cadillac for her baby moon because we were able to book an ocean front room. We even opted for 2 queen beds because there were no king beds available. We had to wait till 5:30 to check in and when we got to our room, we noticed we had a partial ocean view. The front desk didn’t alert us that our room was a downgrade and informed us that the hotel overbooked our room and they couldn’t give us the room we paid for. After some back and forth, the manager said that while they didn’t have our room for the date we checked in, they would move us into the right room the next day. Lo and behold, the next day we were told again that we would not be getting the room we paid for. We spoke with 4 other families that had the same bait and switch done to them as well. Would love to know how much money the Cadillac has made by overselling rooms and downgrading their guests from the room they paid for. Anyone booking through marriot should be weary about not getting the room they paid for!!
Bonvoy Beware! Not as expected
Awful all around. Bonvoy members beware! We are platinum elite bonvoy members, made reservations four months in advance and requested one of our suite upgrades benefits… something that we’ve never done in years, three weeks ago. My wife even called Marriott and the hotel last week to confirm the suite upgrade and was told that “they would do their best”. Not only did we not get a suite upgrade, but we were put in the smallest worst room imaginable. We were told that due to being at capacity.. there was nothing that could be done when we requested a double room. Oh… and we checked two days prior to arrival and the hotel had availability. There is literally no point to having status anymore and being brand loyal. It’s a game and this hotel and management could care less about Bonvoy status. So this is a warning to you fellow Bonvoy members out there with status… don’t book this hotel. Save yourself the headache. Don’t be fooled by the pretty pictures on the Marriott app. The room was not as pictured and literally was tucked away in the corner of the hotel. It was loud, small, and dark. And the hallway had a musty smell. And I could fully hear the conversations of the people next door, the rooms were so old and tiny. I could go on. We ended up checking out after a night, something that I have never ever done in my life. So thanks Cadillac Hotel! And I don’t want a manager response to this, even though it will be coming. I just want to alert other Platinum Bonvoy members of our particular experience to save y’all the headache and hopefully not ruin your vacation like you did ours.
Never in my life did have to wait to checkin until 5:30 PM at a hotel. Management was not present to apologize or offer the dozens of guests who were waiting in the lobby some refreshments. Hotel is nicely renovated though. Restaurant staff was very nice.
Great Super Bowl/Valentine’s Getaway!
This is already our favorite Miami Hotel, so when we notice staff who go out of their way to make our trip more memorable, we take time out to write about it. Guests will feel like they are in the best hotel in Miami! It is a gorgeous oceanfront property with great amenities, including the most wonderful staff (Thank you Mery & Santiago). The in-house restaurant has a wonderful breakfast, with the freshest fruit, pastries, smoked salmon, etc. The hotel is spotless with a gorgeous pool, Tiki Bar and lounging area. We thoroughly enjoyed the setup they provided for a great Super Bowl gathering with all hotel guests. Our stay included everything we needed, great room, delicious food and daily access to two beach chairs. You treat your customers well and we are happy to tell others about this gem of a getaway. Thank you for making my last trip, before my surgery, a joy to experience!
