    Poor experience

I stayed here for several days in Feb 2026 and unfortunately had an uncomfortable experience. There was a noticeable marijuana smell on the sixth floor, and on my last morning it became strong inside my room. When I reported it, the staff member who checked reacted defensively and raised his voice, even though I remained calm. At the front desk, another employee told me “he doesn’t want to talk to you anymore,” which only added to the confusion. The manager later said, “You don’t talk to my employees, you talk to me,” but the tone felt more intimidating than reassuring. The issue itself was never addressed, and the situation escalated so unexpectedly that I decided to check out early. Afterward, I noticed other reviews mentioning that staff are pleasant until a real issue arises. Unfortunately, my experience matched that pattern. For future travelers, I’m sharing this as an honest reference. Based on this stay, we don’t plan to return to BWH properties.

    Overall not worth it

I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility problems. Both the upper open parking area (second floor level) and the basement garage have only a flight of open stairs to reach the lobby level and the elevators. It was hard for my older husband and I to get our luggage to the lobby level. I would suggest bringing your luggage in their front door when you stop there to register. That's what we did when we left. We had a 'city view' room, definitely older. Small room (2 queen beds), small sink area, desk and chair and only a small chair for additional seating. 'City view' was of a large, empty parking lot and then the Doubletree hotel on the other side of that. Very busy street (Harbor) that is noisy and the S.D. Airport is nearby with jets taking off with a roar from about 7 a.m. to after 11 p.m. Breakfast adequate.

One Night Stay Only, Hotel Needs Work

My husband and I, along with 2 brothers and their wives, spent one night at the BW Yacht Harbor Hotel before shuttling over to the cruise port in the AM. We chose this location because of the brand and the location on the waterfront in relative close proximity to the port. We appreciated that they had a hotel shuttle that took us to the port in the AM. Unfortunately, it doesn't run between the airport and hotel, so we had to take an Uber the day we arrived. When we first arrived, the desk clerk was talking with another staff member and ignored us as we all stood around the counter waiting to check in. After close to 10 minutes, she eventually acknowledged us and was pleasant. There was no acknowledgement of us being BW Rewards members, but she did help get us signed up for the morning shuttle and recommended some restaurants within walking distance. The hotel shows obvious signs of aging and wear throughout, particularly in the rooms. Our king bedroom with balcony was tiny with barely room to move around, and the walls and furniture were beat up. The bathroom trim was ugly where it had deteriorated. Things appeared "clean", but the rooms definitely need renovation. I appreciated that the sink was separate from the shower/tub and toilet. The room had a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The mattress was quite firm and there were 3 very small pillows. We had trouble getting the room to warm up despite turning up the thermostat, and the bed only had 2 sheets and a very thin blanket. We later found an additional blanket in the top of the closet. The one padded chair in the room had definite signs of wear and tear, and the desk was very small. The hotel sits next to a major road along the waterfront, so there was some traffic noise, but not bad. The free breakfast buffet in the AM had mostly typical cold and hot options and was well stocked. Different days have different hot menus, per a sign. Overall, this was an ok place to stay for one night prior to leaving town, but we would look elsewhere if needing more nights in that area in the future.

    Find a different hotel!

The staff did a good job and were very friendly. We would not use this facility again. The room temperature and outside noise level were loud and uncontrolled . I guess they were single pane windows . There are other hotels in the immediate area. I would find a different hotel, even if it cost a little more.
