Barcelo was great!
Enjoyed my trip to the Barceló! Ricardo and Cesar in the Premium Lounge made my trip great! All the staff at resort were great! I will be back in April! Excited to bring new family and friends to the resort. All the premium rooms have a great view, and the resorts landscaping is lush and beautiful. Cheers!
First off we generally gravitate towards the more expensive adult only resorts like Secrets, and Eldorado seaside suites types. We thought we'd try and save a few bucks and see how it went. After a complete gong show with Westjet, missing a full day/night of our vacation we were very happy to arrive, to be greeted with a glass of champagne a very friendly manager (Israel), and very very clean premise. We were checked in swiftly and did pay for the premium stay, worth it for the unlimited ala'carte meal booking alone. Carlos Gonzalez showed us to our room, was very informative, extremely friendly, with a good sense of humor. Room was as clean as any 5 star we've ever been to. Food was quite good at the steak house, the Spanish, and the Italian restaurants. Steak house being our favorite as it was right on the ocean and open air. Augustin, Rosa, and Danny (speedy) Gonzalez were excellent to us. A special thanks also goes out to Adrián the sommelier who provided us with a few excellent bottles of wine. Pool area was excellent with the water temp being very nice. Entertainment staff is great. 3 negatives for us. No hot water at all near dinner times. Wi-Fi is close to useless, you get kicked off of it more then your on it, and no chance your making any consistent video calls home to the family. Jejen!!! There should be a bold blatant warning about Jejen (micro mosquitoes). You pretty much can't see them and they will eat you alive, there was no one there that didn't have their legs eaten, the only warning/information we saw on these was in the gift shop that advised using bug spray. That was 3 days in and legs welted and itched to scabs. Regardless of the above 3 we would return here for sure. To management, all the above named employees deserve an extra pat on the back! Wonderful area and surrounding towns! Great area to explore, good transportation into Puerto Vallarta! Good climate! Good variety of food and beverages! Would highly recommend as an area to check out!
Just returned from a two week stay at this resort attended a weeding with close to 60 people this result totally miss represented themselves to the couple there is no beach security staff was rude and aggressive staff in general was not very friendly the food was not that good and was usually served cold or warm far from hot drinks were spilled around the pool that remained there for days prior to being cleaned .The wanted an additional 50 dollars for a room key it just went on and on we upgraded to the premium level as did many in our group nothing additional was provided by the resort for the extra cost I have traveled to many resorts all over Mexico in my opinion the Barcelo is the worest I have ever stayed at and would not recommend it to anyone
Half good half bad experience
Bad first: four people slipped in pool on steps becouse a layer of white sunscreen on top of water by the stairs . My husband could have hit his head on the concrete luckily it was his but that got a contrition his back scraped and elbow , the lady before him the other guests told me was her arm , me and a fellow in front of me all slipped . Manager said he would care of it hopefully he did . However , after I complained oddly enough our hotel key stopped working so it had to be reprogrammed, then our restaurant reservation for the restaurant on premises got After we complained our room key was UN programmed , our restaurant reservation was cancelled and the place still wouldn’t let us in to eat ,(back to the buffet food) , no cab service to the city to go eat it took an hour and by that tim everything’s closed being it was a Sunday night. The pool closes at eight but at 7:30 the pool lights and patio lights shut off so it was completely, completely black in the pool and deck , , we couldn’t see anything and I stepped on something sharp like a bottle cap and ran into a stranger very odd experience. So then I am thinking they shut lights to get people out of the water which is dangerous and we could have gotten seriously hurt. The buffet food was good and the people that worked there were extremely nice and helpful so we tipped them very good . The beach is rocky and and hard to get to because it’s at a far stretch on other side of where you can sit . The area for hotel beach is small. We suffered of Chigger bites . Positive lady cleaning the rooms did an excellent job and were so sweet we tipped her really good too. The room and hotel are very clean and the hotel is so beautiful. I love the pool and hot tub . The bands and entertainment at 9 are super entertaining. Carlos is so nice he helped us with our bags. The towel lady is so kind , The bartenders were great and friendly. The guacamole ( once in a while it was super hot) was great . Although my teen and husband didn’t love the food I enjoyed all the food being healthy with soups desserts being good . I think I’m not sure but it’s not American style Mexican food I think it’s authentic to that region of Mexico which I respected and liked . I saw that the kids food had the burgers everyone grabbed up quickly. The sound of the ocean the tall pine trees and the view of the pool and a little of the ocean were SO great. We were in Tower two but both towers have the same view. Our fridge was nicely stocked and free . The Wi-Fi was ok , it worked most of the time . The drinks were really tasty . The guests that we met were so nice . The excursion was fun but we had to get in and out of a small boat six times. I was rushed through the snorkeling so did not see much fish . I wish I would have known and I could have done it at the hotel beach on the side of the hotel they rent out equipment. Don’t do a time share for a discount they don’t t take no for an answer. So I’d give the look of the hotel a ten the pool a ten and I liked the food but many didn’t so a 7 and the service for the bell boy’s and maids a 10 . Manager could of been a little better or nicer and attentive at taking care of the pool issue which I thought extremely important, the young girl that sabotaged our dinner reservation and room key and whoever rudely shut off lights at 7:30 at the pool should be sued so they get a 1 or zero. (The manager said he would look into the complaint about that area of the pool so no one else would possibly get hurt . ) Hopefully no one else did get hurt. Only that section seemed to have the white film .
