Currently at hotel after being here on at least 6 previous occasions. Had many great holidays here but the changes at hotel since change of ownership convince me that I will not ever return. Buffet restaurant is very poor, service is poor and no transport to rooms which involves a lot of walking. Entertainment is of a low standard and is currently held outside due to works ongoing on a roof? Not ideal in thunder storms??

Just back from another amazing stay at the Akamal resort, The place is lovely, clean and well maintained, the rooms are modern and functional but the stand out feature are the staff, They work tirelessly to feed, supply drinks, clean and make your stay so special, Everyone from the guys and girls clearing seaweed from the beach to the front of house staff are so amazing, Luckily for us it was fairly quiet on the resorts this time (I would definitely recommend October to visit) So the restaurants were available pretty much everyday, I particularly recommend the Brazilian, The Mexican and Katok, (not if your a vegetarian though) 😉 but the buffet is very good for both breakfast and evening dinner, The pool bars are great as is the day time entertainment team, you are not harassed by them to join in but welcomed as part of the family if you do, The service was excellent including room service, all served with a smile, Tip everyone, they work so hard, Anyone into golf will be blown away by the Riviera Maya PGA course, I played it 4 times but I did take my own clubs over with me its about $80 to rent a set and roughly $135-$150 to play after 1pm. We are aware of the changes coming next month and we will keep an eye on the reviews but we couldn't fault our stay so its 5 stars from us.

Amazing stay on the Mexico Gulf Coast
Excellent resort amenities and setting, perfectly situated near many excursions of interest to Chichen Itza, cenotes, Valladolid, and Xcaret. Delicious food on and off the resort, wonderful a la carte restaurants, entertaining wildlife, fun evening performances, and lots of daytime activities. Great variety of water at the Gulf, pools, and swim-up room pools. Amazing value, with friendly and courteous staff.

Oscar & Mariana – The Stars of Bahia Principe Akumal!
One of the absolute highlights of our two week holiday at Bahia Principe was the entertainment team, especially Oscar and Mariana! We played beach volleyball pretty much every single day, and it quickly became something we genuinely looked forward to. Not just because of the games, but because of the incredible atmosphere these two created. We met some amazing people, made new friends and shared so many laughs along the way. Oscar and Mariana are fantastic at what they do. Always smiling, full of energy, welcoming everyone and making sure nobody feels left out. They have that natural ability to bring people together, which is exactly what makes a holiday memorable. As someone who works in hospitality, I really appreciate people who genuinely care about the guest experience, and these two absolutely deserve recognition. They’re a huge asset to Bahia Principe Akumal. A massive thank you to both of you for the laughs, the volleyball matches and the wonderful memories. You made our holiday even more special, and we hope to see you again when we return! Absolute legends! 🙌🏐🇲🇽

staff amazing milton entertainment jesus bar all sportsbar staff and guest relations ..little issues with getting smirnoff .but anything i reauested was accomodated .kids dirtying pool caused 2 days closure i did get engaged there was made to feel special ..
