  THE GHETTO

  Oh my gosh this place was the worst. We usually stay somewhere else, but my husband wanted to try someplace new and booked this. (Unfortunately) Where do I even begin?? First of all the lobby and front DO NOT match the room quality. The rooms are old, dirty, moldy, dusty. There is visible mold on the pictures in the bathroom. The furnishings are nasty. I never walked barefoot in the room. The beds are not comfortable, the pullout even worse. Kitchen was ok. This is the epitome of ‘landlord special’ where everything has 9 coats of paint. There’s a very strong musty smell, so much so in the bedroom that we all opted to sleep in the living room to get more fresh air. It’s just nasty. I hated my stay here unfortunately. Had to ask for so much and they delivery is slow and unfriendly. Ask for bedding for pull out and they brought a sheet and blanket. Then had to call back to get a pillow… then the body wash was empty, had to call… then on a different day I washed my hair and the conditioner was out. Just one thing after another. Oh on top of all this, the staff are rude! If they aren’t out right rude, they sure are NOT friendly. The pool is ghetto, kids throwing pool furniture all around the pool, screaming kids way past 10pm. Even my 11 year old was shocked. I will never stay here again nor recommend this place.   Don't stay here.

  Rooms were dirty, not well kept, bugs galore. We got there and found no soap in the bathroom. We asked the front desk 3 times for soap, and because they wouldn't bring any, we bought our own at a store in town. The pool was dirty,, had mildew growing in it. Then they turned the power and internet off in Maui after a small brush fire. We had no electricity for days, and no internet. We had no idea what was happening. When we asked the hotel for updates they claimed they didn't know anything. Turns out this happens all the time in west Maui that they just shut off the power. We had purchased food for the week so it was all spoiled. The only thing they offered was glow sticks. Really??? They should have had lanterns with batteries at least in every single room if this happens regularly, and a radio with batteries as this is where updates occur. And it would have been super nice if they had bbqs or something we could have used to cook the food we had spoiling. They also should provide a small cooler in each room as well, and even power banks or solar powered chargers. They were rude and unwilling to help in anyway. We will never stay here again.   An Absolute Gem for Families and First-Timers!

  If you are planning your first trip to Maui—or traveling with a family crew in tow—look no further. My family and I just stayed here, and to say we "had a blast" is an understatement! First, let’s talk logistics, because if you’re hauling kids and/or gear (Golf bags and a Costco run, in our case), location is everything. This property is perfectly centralized and navigating the parking here was an absolute breeze (a rare luxury!). Right outside your door, you are within walking distance to a goldmine of local spots: incredible food trucks, great restaurants, late-night karaoke, an ABC Store for the essentials, and the legendary Papi’s Ohana for the best cinnamon rolls you'll ever try - you truly cannot beat this location. The property itself strikes the ultimate balance—it has a beautifully maintained, upscale feel, but the vibe is completely chill and welcoming. Our room was incredibly spacious, sparkling clean, and served up views that belong on a postcard. Pro-tip for first-timers: this side of the island is all about the dramatic golden-hour sunsets rather than the sunrises. Trust me, watching the sun dip into the ocean from here beats an early morning wake-up call any day! Despite being so close to the action, the resort is a peaceful sanctuary. We didn't hear a single car, loud music, or loud passerby—just pure island serenity. The amenities totally seal the deal. There are two awesome pools, a private beach that feels like your own secret paradise, and a beach hut nestled right between the pools where you can grab your towels and instantly rent boogie boards, snorkels, or kayaks without any fuss. Saving the best for last: do yourself a favor and visit the bar. Annie is hands-down the best Happy Hour host on the island and made us feel like old friends. This resort offers incredible value for the unforgettable memories it gives you. We are already counting down the days until we can come back home to this beautiful property!

  Full resort in a prime location on the beach

  A beautiful resort in a perfect location. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. My kids loved both the pools, but especially the large garden pool with water features. What our room lacked in style, it made up for in space. The king bedroom, full kitchen with dining, bathroom and sofa sleeper provided more than enough room for our family of three. It was only a short walk to the grocery store and even shorter walk to the beach. Plenty of attached covered parking made coming and going easy. The beach rental stand was never crowded and came in handy. The onsite restaurant was classic "old Hawaii" style with a full spread of tasty food and an ocean view. If you want a fancy, luxury room with all the bells and whistles, this isn't for you. If you want a spacious room in a highly desirable spot with lots of amenities, then stay at Aston Kaanapali Shores. One tip, the electric car charger station is Tesla brand, if you want to charge a different EV, you'll need the Tesla app.
