Absolutely surprised
I just want to start by saying that I had read ALL of the reviews on many different sites and was absolutely hesitant in going. Check-in Our check-in was slated for 3pm, but we arrived at noon as we had an early flight. I had heard all about nasty time share people in the lobby waiting for you when you check in. Maybe it was early but when we checked in there were none to be found. Our check in person gave us a complementary upgrade without us even asking. Accommodations We stayed in a villa, in the O section. We walked in and were shocked. It was HUGE, recently renovated and with a fantastic view of the pool. I had read reviews that included old sheets or no sheets at all, bugs, cigarette smells, mold, mustyness. There was none of that, this unit was pristine. Our pool was 20 feet from our back patio which made it extremely convenient for the kids to go back and forth. Absolutely thrilled with the unit we ended up with. Pool Pool is huge, well maintained and depending on the day either empty or very full. Tends to get very full on weekends with visitors doing the friday-sunday thing. All the crowds were very respectful and just there to have fun with their kids. There were people from Canada, America, Mexico and Puerto Rico all just hanging out. Amenities. The water park costs $25USD per person to use so we declined. When you have a pool behind your unit it makes it easy to just hang there. We never ate at any of the restaurants that were onsite as we were doing a lot of home cooking or exploring. There is a store onsite that sells some groceries, cigarettes and alcohol but it is VERY pricy. There is a walmart right across the street where you will save money by shopping there. The arcade kept the kids busy for an hour, and there was definitely a lot of kids there. Overall Im thinking that most of the negative reviews come from staying in the Bigger building that are apartment condo style and not the villa buildings. This is a very busy place with thousands of people on resort, but it never felt crowded or loud. I am still shocked about how wonderful this place turned out, and would definitely return. My kids loved it and so did we. Don't believe everything that you read, experience it for yourself.

Not a non smoking hotel
We are staying there currently.Nice location ,clean ,speedy check in at 1030.Nicely redone unit .We are in 2 bed room unit.The master even has a massive 2 head shower. But....and this a biggie for us,the place still allows smoking.Not in the units,but in the large screened in porch.When it rains here in FL the smell seeps in the the large sliding doors from the unit below.I mean,alot. When we asked for a different unit we were not guaranteed the next room wouldn't have any smokers next door.Shame on us for not doing our homework,but I think we will stick to the corporate chains and from now on.

Dirty unit(s) at Westgate Vacation Villas
I have been an owner since 1992, and the past several years the cleanliness upon arrival of my villa has been deteriorating. I was there in April/23. There were mice in my unit and I had to move. Upon checking in I waited 2hrs for the unit to be cleaned, only to find out it was still very dirty. I had to wipe down the appliances as there was food stuck on them. When I moved to the new unit I found that they no longer supply items in the kitchen such as bowls to make salad with, broom, kettle, oven mitts etc. This was when I was looking for items. The new unit's guest tub wouldn't even drain, so I have to wonder if it had been cleaned why it wasn't fixed!! I could go on and on but frankly I am disgusted with the condition of the unit. Westgate Vacation Villas is definitely not a 5+ resort. I am not sure I would even give it a 3+. I have stayed at motels that were cleaner and a lot cheaper than here!

Great location and Accommodations but not unpleasant sales pitch for existing owners
Owner at Westgate since 1991. Last trip was 2019 due to Covid and not being able to travel to US from the UK . Family trip. 7 of us. Our timeshare was being renovated so we were put in another 2 bed unit similar to the one we would normally stay in just slightly smaller. In P block. Very close to a pool. Lots of small issues. Not enough bedding for 7, pillows etc. we stayed for 2 weeks and had to request housekeeping on day 10 to change sheets. Similar issue re sales pitch. Asked to go for one hour express at 9.00. By 9.20 we were still sitting. Time with family on vacation is so precious and we were annoyed by this. Sales agent was ok, pleasant enough. As an existing owner they were asking us to part with money again which we were not going to do. Sales agent gets someone else to come and speak to us at the end and this gentleman was so rude to us and tour/sales pitch came to an abrupt end but we managed to get out by 10.30. We love westgate vacation villas. The location is great and the pools and facilities are great. Got the impression they might have been short on staff this time. We will return but we will not be attending any owner updates on future trips.

Westgate=Corporate Greed!
We are writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with Westgate. When we initially purchased the timeshare, the salesperson failed to mention many of the problems of owning with Westgate and misled us by omission. During this sales pitch, they also held our kids in a “day care” away from us for many hours while the sales people pushed and pushed for us to sign. We paid off the "mortgage" for our timeshare but have never been able to use it. The company offered no options to end our contract, despite the fact that we have never benefited from it. We feel as though our hard-earned money was taken advantage of, and would like to warn others to vacation elsewhere. Do not believe the “discounted tickets” for a 90 minute presentation. If you do get tricked into it, set a timer on your phone and walk out at that time. More than likely, they will find a way not to give you the tickets-be warned. Other timeshares have programs that you can find online to use when you are no longer interested in timeshare ownership, Westgate does not. If the “investment” is so wonderful, why don’t they buy it back and sell it at a higher price? This is not the kind of customer service I expect from a reputable business.
