Disappointed
The room was very overpriced for April , we asked to see the room the lady acted like she didn’t hear us , we should of insisted , the room was very old , the bathtub was ancient , cracks in the walls , the carpet in the hallways to the room was wore and dirty , never stayed anymore that didn’t offer some sort of free breakfast , even if it was just a doughnut , nothing there , for the price we paid a full breakfast should have been included , we were very dissatisfied , but Iam sure they won’t lose any sleep Over it lol

Appalled, Annoyed, Aggravated l Westgate Woes
Westgate is staffed by very nice people, but it is a relic from the past that fails to meet the most basic vacation expectations. Where do I begin....my husband and I stayed for seven days and were told no housekeeping services were available because we are not owners...really? The front desk responded to my housekeeping request by dropping off extra trash bags and towels. So back to the trash, no directions were provided for what to do with the trash we emptied, so we have a bag of trash in the room that we trust will be disposed of after we check out. Oh wait, the towels are dropped off inside your door in one of those lovely trash bags you get for self-service trash disposal. The shower is a pathetic little stream of water that fluctuates between weak and weaker. Guests cannot rent beach chairs to sit out on the very desirable beach area attacjed to the hotel...so yeah, prepare to bring or buy your own beach chairs and umbrella....unless of course you are an owner! Apparently paying guests are relegated to peasant class and not worthy of any services. My last sad detail...the tour we were coerced into. When my husband arrived he had a 158.00 hold put on his card and was told it was refundable if we went on "the tour.' Soooo, we went on the the tour prepared to listen politely and it dragged well past the 90 minutes promised and at least three times we firmly declined. The place is a dump relative to what we are accustomed to. For the high pressure timeshare sales tactics, I find it hilarious that anyone would even think guests with a little travel experience would spend a dime on becoming an owner. Myrtle Beach is beautiful and the local people are very gracious! I will be back, but we will NEVER stay at another Wesdtgate. If you know what lipstick on a pig looks like, then you will understand Westgate Myrtle Beach. There are a ton of far newer, well known accommodations, so choose wisely!

Discriminatory behavior from tour intake
The “gentleman” in the tour department, black, thin with long dreads was rude, unhelpful and solidified my decision not to purchase a time share at a location with such horrendous customer service. We took the room on a deal for doing a tour of the time shares. Prior to the vacation, I asked 3 separate call reps if I’d need to prove income. They all said no. So we brought NOTHING. Once we arrived for the tour, he claimed I needed to prove income since I own a business, and gave me a 1-800 number. He said if I didn’t prove income I’d be dismissed from the tour, thereby not qualifying for the discount, and charged $500. I called the number he gave me and they reiterated a 4th time, I DO NOT NEED TO PROVE INCOME even as a business owner. I went back to him but his mind was made up that I did. The hotel front desk manager suggested he speak to a tour manager for me. He came out of the manager’s office and said come back tomorrow with some form of proof of income of at least 50k *per YEAR*. I brought bank statements from the past *3 months* showing over 60k in deposits in one of my business accounts and for ZERO reason he claimed this was not good enough. I don’t know if I was targeted for being a young, female, business owner of minority or what. I asked, “if I said I worked for some place and made 50k a year would you give me such a hard time?” He replied, “that’s what you should have said.” I supposed he expected me to leave and pay that $500. I asked to speak to the manager for help in understanding why I’m the only one required to show proof of income, and why when I show plenty enough income I am still denied. The manager SWIFTLY put us through the tour. Perhaps Westgate is not treating their employees well or paying decent wages because this man was as miserable as could be. The room’s linens were also old and dingy, floor was dirty, view was nice.
