Viva Wyndham Maya
A beautiful and very diversified hotel on the beautiful beach in Playa del Carmen. Here you have activities for everyone, whether you want to spend a quiet day at the Adults only pool or want to enjoy entertainment. Animation is provided daily, especially the shows at night in the theater are insane, the entertainment program is unique and not to be found everywhere. Special praise goes to the animation manager Mama Ima and to the talented dancer Michael!!! Thank you for a wonderful and unforgettable vacation!

Lovely overall but needs updating
We spent two weeks at this hotel and over all had a wonderful time. The check in was slow with one person dealing with multiple people. There was a guy on the counter who refused to help us which after around 20 hours of travelling caused us a serious sense of humour failure. Other than this we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, particular thanks to Montserrat. Our room was very worn and dated so after a few days we upgraded to a ground floor room that led us directly onto the beach! We aren’t sure that there’s a better room at the hotel! The food was ok, very limited for vegetarians where nothing is flavoured or seasoned. The snack bar pizzas are really good… I’m fussy about pizza so that’s saying something. They say this is a 24 snack bar but it isn’t. The Mira mare restaurant is nice but the windows are utterly filthy so you can’t see out at all! That was the only thing letting it down for us. The grounds are lovely, you can see lots of local wildlife which was a real treat for us. The bars are often very busy and sometimes have five staff serving a queue of around 30. I don’t know the real value of the viva club membership but it seems like simple things like a kettle or coffee machine is taken away for them. We were making hot drinks in the microwave. Despite the seaweed issue the beach was beautiful and very clean. There is a small shopping area by the entrance to the hotel which is pleasant and has some nice stalls and shops. The spa as with any hotel spa is extortionate but I have to say that the massage I had was amazing! There is an adults only pool which whilst it has no view it is very nice with a good relaxed vibe. The main pool gets very noisy and was way too much for us. There’s plenty of activities although there seems to be confusion as a couple of times we went to some that weren’t happening and nobody seemed to know about them! Overall it’s a nice hotel. I’d go back but only to one of the updated rooms.

A little hectic in the beginning but all worked out in the end
The waiters Victor and Uciel in the Portofino Ala cart restaurant were amazing, so funny and pleasant . They always made sure we loved our food and filled up our glasses with wine. Dinner was amazing and the atmosphere very elegant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to visit. As for the buffet, breakfast was ok, lunch by the pool was decent with pizza, hotdogs and hamburgers. Dinner great as they have different themes. Grounds very maintained and the greenery is beautiful. Rooms..views in many rooms are not the greatest, u have to pay for an upgrade. We did an upgrade probably because we did complain and it was our anniversary, so we went in a bigger room near the pool. They do have an adult section too, much more quiet. Pool.. clean but warm Beach..clean Front desk can be a bit nicer
