Hotel Staff: not interested. There's better options than this hotel.

I'll start with the GOOD, The location and most of the Hotel itself was good. The Beach was beautiful and sea was warm, and there were plenty of loungers by the pools and on the beach. Our room was serviced everyday. The hotel grounds were well kept by gardeners. Samuel who worked the Egg Station at breakfast was always happy, and smiled at everyone. BAD ..... 95% of the Staff were disinterested and rude. It's almost as if they hate their jobs, in which case I'd say they are in the wrong trade. Although we only spoke English and a tiny amount of Spanish, we found very few staff spoke any English at all. Hardly any staff had a smile at any time. They'd just walk past you and make no attempt to say hello. Most ignored you totally, some might say good morning if we said it to them first. Only 2 Bars in the Hotel, one small bar in the lobby and the other is the pool bar. I politely asked for a Mojito one evening from the lobby bar and the young girl working there firstly rolled her eyes because she had to do something, then started banging bottles around whilst making it with no attempt to actually make it nice, then slammed it down spilling some of it, then immediately looked at the next customer without even finishing my order. Not an isolated incident unfortunately, even in the main Restaurant the staff we rude to everyone, they took ages to serve you any coffee at breakfast and were all just disinterested and walked around not really doing anything. If they needed to go past you, you would have to move out of the way of them, never any apology or thank you. The beach sports hut where you can get Catamarans and Kayaks have about 3 staff working there who again are just sat around disinterested. When we tried to book 3 Kayaks one of the staff pointed at a form for us to fill out, and pointed at the Kayaks. No asking if we'd used them before, no confirming what to do if we got into trouble or needed assistance, total lack of effort. They didn't even check our lifejackets. God forbid if anything did happen as there was no-one up on their lookout platform, and they all go to lunch for 90 mins. Pool Towels - the 2 lads working there again were rude to literally everyone and again disinterested, one time when I asked to exchange the tatty torn towels they had given us, they asked me to get them 3 beers from the bar. Food - The only hot food was if it is cooked in front of you in the restaurant, everything else that is supposed to be hot is cold. Even if you are one of the first in there whether it be for breakfast of lunch - its cold. Yes, you get used to it, but no point complaining as it's the same for everyone and nothing would get done anyway. The food is plentiful and there's lot of choice. There's plenty of food that should be cold, so something for most guests palate. The Hotel has the potential for it's guests to have an amazing holiday, but lacks manners and enthusiasm. All that aside, I tried to kill them with kindness and refused to let then get away without responding to me saying hello, or asking them how they are or saying Merry Xmas (as thats the period we stayed there). Very little evening entertainment at this hotel, you had to walk a very scenic 5 minutes to it's sister hotel where the vibe was a lot better. They had a better selection of on site shops including a small pharmacy. Entertainment every night and even the odd smile from the staff there. We made the most of our holiday, the destination is for the most part beautiful, not sure we'd come to this destination again as it's our 2nd time to Dominican, spoilt a tiny bit by the hotel staff. We'd recommend staying at it's sister hotel Viva Dominicas Beach by Wyndham. All the locals outside of the hotel are lovely.

    Best vacation

My stay at Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace was thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel boasts a stunning location right on the beach, with crystal-clear waters and soft sand. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortably furnished, making it easy to feel at home. The staff is especially friendly and attentive, always going out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The hotel offers a variety of activities and entertainment programs, providing fun while still allowing for relaxation. The restaurants serve a good selection of fresh and varied dishes, catering to all tastes, and the bars are perfect for enjoying a refreshing drink. Overall, this is a highly recommended hotel for couples, families, or groups who appreciate sun, sand, and excellent service.

VIVA Wyndham Palace Punta Cana....HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT GO IS YOU DONT SPEAK SPANISH

Where do I start. 99% of the staff at the resort DO NOT speak English, even basic English. Our room number 5123 had no WIFI. TV was not working. We came so late and were very hungry. Upon asking, we were told by we can go to the 24 hour pizzeria. No one even offered to bring it to our room. There were only three soft drink bottles in the fridge. We were told that there was no refill available for those bottles. Also for water, there was a 500 ml water bottle provided to us. IF we needed more water, we had to leave our room multiple times to fill it up at the water filter stations. Next day we requested that WIFI in our room be fixed. The lady at reception said in broken English that there was no WIFI in the rooms. We would have to come to the lobby for WIFI access. After speaking to someone at the resort we found out that was not TRUE. At that point my son pointed out that the roof in our bathroom was leaking. the reception sent someone to fix the roof. As per the person it was now fixed. We went to the beach and came back in the evening, only to find the roof was leaking again. At this point, we asked for the room to be changed as we could not live in a room with leaking roof. Reception said they will give us another room at 10 am the next day. Next day when we went to the reception at 1030 am and receptionist said he cannot do anything until 4pm as there were no rooms available. We got really angry at that time. It was frustrating because staff did not speak English and we could clearly see that they were making fun of us in Spanish. At that point, my husband said that he will camp in the lobby if we are not moved into another room right away. That was when the receptionist told us that another room will be made available in 20 minutes. We were then moved to another room 5321. Here we had WIFI, even though it was patchy. We did notice in this room that there were blankets. Which we did not get in the first room, where we only got a white sheet. FOOD: this resort has a lot of food options available but only caters to Hispanic and European guests. Everything has ham in it. I feel that in this day and age, resorts should try and cater to diverse populations. At least have some continental food available. Most of the food available did not have labels on it. You did not know what you were eating. If you asked the chefs or the serving staff, they had not clue what we were asking. We used Google translate multiple times to find out what we were eating. There were next to none chicken options available. We also noted that things leftover for dinner were served for breakfast AND LUNCH next day at the pizzeria. Fruits were STALE. bananas were extremely ripe and skin was almost black. We also noted flies all over the food at the buffets. We also noted that none of the swimming pools and beaches had lifeguards. There were life guard chairs but we NEVER noted anyone sitting on it. TO SUM IT UP, only come to this resort if you speak SPANISH and enjoy otherwise you will have lots of trouble even with basin communication.
