    the most honest american review

My Fiancee (F.26) and I (M. 29) got to the resort on Sunday, May 20th. We were given our key card and went to our room. Went to get a drink and when we tried to get into our room, the key cards didn't work. To make matters worse, a pretty decent thunderstorm just rolled in and we're sitting on our porch getting poured on by the rain and pretty strong winds. This lasted about 15 minutes until I went to the front desk to get new keys. New keys work. We're getting ready for dinner in the hotel room. We stayed in the bungalow ocean view king. They're most expensive option. I go to open the door to go outside and it's locked. The lock on the door was completely jammed and we could not get out. I grabbed the hotel phone to call the front desk. The phone doesn't even work. Tried unplugging it and everything. Not a huge deal, I call the front desk from my cellphone. They send two workers over to try and get us out. Essentially they had to completely break the lock to get us out. It took 40 minutes. The worker replaced the lock and then had the nerve to pester us for a tip. "propinas por favor?" tip please, in english. I told him no. This happened all on the first day. We're staying for 7 days. Fast forward to Thursday. We wake up to zero running water, at all. We call the front desk and they say "we're looking into it". We got to the buffet to get food. Power completely out. Took 5 hours to get the running water back up and running. I hate to sound like a snobby American. We were actually one of few Americans on the resort. So many of the workers were harassing us to sign up for a time share. The resort is all inclusive but man, it seemed like we had to tip for literally everything and it started to get frustrating. I loved the physical location of the hotel. Absolutely loved the beach, island Soana and everything else. im even taking spanish courses. This hotel is NOT worth it let me tell you. The people that work there are a little shady. Granted we don't speak fluent Spanish but it really felt like we were getting taken advantage of.

    Amazing

We are having such an amazing time and the staff is beyond friendly. We plan to come back here yearly now. Soooo much better than the Bahamas. Clean. Fun. So many activities. Literally ONLY thing I dislike is people touching me and the massage people insist on giving you a sample, they don’t like to take no as an answer, but I understand they are just trying to make a living. I still appreciate them though!<3

    little Italy

Not for the English. The place is beautiful however that is were it stops. Our room had toilet issues and smelt of sewerage even though we reported a leak nothing was done so had to put up with it. The food was the worst we have ever had , very little choice and anything decent was in short supply so you were lucky to get it. The À la carte restaurants were very good and we went there most nights, the only chance to get a decent meal. The drinks were watered down and the wine was in short supply at all the bars and came out of a plastic tub, to get a decent drink we had to buy from outside the hotel. The entertainment was good but it was purely just for the Italians so if your English you will feel left out. At night It was on far too late and after a long day we were falling asleep. At night there isn't enough seating so had to sit on a sun lounger or stand up. We went on the boat trip twice however the cheaper one was better, again it was catered for the Italians, the guide would speak in Italian for 5 minutes then in English they would say get on the boat, what had we missed ??? This was our first trip to the Dominican and will be our last as this resort as put us off completely.
