A truly exceptional hidden gem at the heart of Paris !

A truly exceptional hidden gem at the heart of Paris ! What really stood out for me was the exceptionally nice and attentive staff.. all of them especially at the front desk. I stayed there from 9-12 Feb while on a business trip. My room was spacious and clean and they put me on a higher floor based on my request. Bed was super comfortable. Villa Marquis is perfectly situated in a quiet street which is literally 2 minute walk from the Tour Eiffel and few minutes walk from Arc de Triomphe . Villa Marquis is a very well managed hotel . It will be my to go to hotel everytime I am in Paris!

    Good location, disappointing rooms.

The Melia Marquis sports a 5-star rating from ATOUT France. I do not know the criteria applied, and wish to make it clear we did not find this a 5 star experience. We stayed in the Melia Marquis for 9 nights in January 2026, which was also a historic cold snap, with 4-5 inches of snow. Our room on the 6th floor, the first of three in which we were placed, was 20 degrees colder than the hallway temperature, and the thermostat was just for show. The primary source of heat was the towel warmer in the shower! We did not get the room size or ameneties we specifically booked, and the hotel response was very disappointing. Initially, the manager offered us dessert and a cheap bottle of cava. After much back-and-forth, on the 4th day, offered to move my wife and I to a different room. There, regrettably, the ambient room temperature was the same - frigid - and we moved again to a room on the 2nd floor, with heat thank goodness, but no balcony and no view. There was no concierge as such - and the front desk staff lacked basic knowledge one would expect from an actual concierge. On the positive side of the ledger, the hotel is in an excellent location, within walking distance of two Metro stations and the Champs-Élysées and, if the room is on the 6th, 7th or 8th floor, one can expect a view. The breakfast is also quite good. That said, the Marquis is by no means a 5 or 4 star experience and, if you visit Paris in the winter months, your room may be a refrigerator.

To be avoided by all means

Reception was perfect especially due to Mr Park. But disappointment started as the level of service at the restaurant was a disaster. Ordered dishes served in a ice cold plate. When we complained the dishes were taken away supposedly to be reheated, they came back after 10 minutes as cold as before. This is just an example of the unprofessional service throughout our stay of 5 days. As a compensation we were offered a discount of 20% on our meals. The problem is that this discount was already granted in our booking confirmation, which was denied by the management. So, avoid this place where they cheat and lye to there customers

    Subpar service

I am rewriting my review after a reply from this hotel. I wrote a review about a simple issue, not receiving towels and how it was handled. Here’s what happened. We came back after a long day out and only had hand towels in our room. We called down for towels so we could shower. They brought up ratty old musty threadbare towels that were not what they had been providing that week. I went down to the front desk and asked them for new towels. Again brought the ratty towels up. Called down again and they said they would correct it and they never did. We had to shower with hand towels. I did enjoy my stay and many parts of this hotel are lovely. I just mentioned that service should be better for a hotel of this quality. Here’s where it gets weird. We left the next morning for the Loire Valley for a few days and came back to Villa Marquis for three nights at the end of our stay. This was prepaid so not much choice. The first day back, someone from the front desk called up and asked what they could do to get us to change our review. They then said “well we TRIED to help you.” I let us go. I said I was not changing my review and I didn’t want to keep dealing with this. Several more times the front desk (or manager) asked what they could do to rectify this. What would have been nice was an apology. Maybe a bottle of wine. Nothing extreme. But asking me how they could “pay me off” so to speak is cheap and tacky. This week the hotel responded to my original review and said 1. I posted my review on my first night. Not true And 2. I had told them I would change my review. Also not true. Have you read this far? This is ridiculous. Now I will also mention that the first stay we had a room where the shower had rust all over the bottom and the door would not close and the bathroom door jammed and was stuck several times. And that our second stay the light in our bathroom was blinking and never was fixed. None of these were big deals, but should be taken care of in a hotel of this caliber. And the trying to get me to change my review and then the reply here is frankly not something I would expect from a hotel at this level. The customer is always right. Service is the single most important part of luxury hotels. Take your money elsewhere.
