    Exciting

Best resort my family and I have ever been to. Bryan, John and Henry are a great trio. I wish they had more water entertainment. They need to take advantage of pool activities like basketball tournaments and more need more music options. Music was not loud enough which a lot of people complained about even returning customers complained because music wasn’t loud enough. We love the entertainment staff. It rained almost everyday but the Bryan, John and Henry kept people entertained throughout the time we were there. We made suggestions but the entertainment staff can only do so much which sucks but would definitely come back if wifi was better.

    Nice resort

The food was amazing, a lot of varieties. The animators did an amazing job (Jon, Bryan and Henry was my favorites) to keep us entertained. The staff was always nice. They also had party nights and we sang some Karaoke, we went lit. The beach was amazing. Few vendors on the beach, it was hard to rest without being ask to buy something. But when you say no they leave. But overall, I do recommend this resort.

    Wonderful Holiday

My wife and I (73 and 83) got off to a great start flying out of Hamilton via Air Transat going to the Gran Ventana Beach Resort in the Dominican. What a pleasure....both the airport and the plane. We took off a half hour early, and actually picked up an additional 26 minutes in the air, arriving in Puerto Plata almost an hour earlier than scheduled. Our landing was not as good, as we had to land during heavy rain, strong winds and lightning, prompting a huge round of cheers and clapping after touchdown!!!! We deplaned indoors, and had a surprisingly long walk to Customs. At Customs I was selected for a thorough random check, by a non English speaking official, which made it more difficult, and took longer, but it turned out okay. After picking up our somewhat wet luggage, we proceeded outside to look for our bus in a light rain, and after a short search, we located it only to find out there were 26 of us looking at a 22 seat bus. It took another 10 minutes or so to remedy the situation, and once on the bus it was a short 25 to 30 minute ride to the resort. Check in was very quick and efficient. I got our luggage and with the help of one of the Bell guys, proceeded to our room. We had arranged for a ground floor room in the Beata Building as my wife has great difficulty getting up and down stairs. As it turned out, I checked our first floor room, and found it to be large, clean, with a King bed, and everything worked. I then returned to the lobby, got my wife, took her to our room, and when she saw it she was very pleased. The VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort was beautiful. Our building was located just inside the front gate of the hotel, from where we had a 300 foot walk down a paved road with no sidewalks, to get to the lobby or any other part of the resort. We found the beach to be large, lots of chairs, but no palapas, and only 8 umbrellas that got taken very early each morning. We prefer the beach over the pool but were only able to get down there 3 times in our 13 day stay. The food throughout the entire resort was exceptionally good. The Buffet was our main eatery, although we did get to all three A la carte's, and especially enjoyed the Italian and Seafood restaurants. Our holiday at the Gran Ventana was made very special, thanks to a young lady who only worked evenings at the Buffet. Her name was Rosa, and we had the pleasure of having her look after us on 8 occasions. The hotel doesn't have 2 or 3 of their staff look after a certain section, but takes an understaffed approach whereby the staff go all over the Buffet doing just about everything, like serving, doing wine, picking up dirty dishes, folding napkins, getting coffee and water, setting up tables, just running around like crazy!!!! We always came to the Buffet early, and managed to have the same table every night. As it turned out, Rosa's station was located close to our table, and after our third night in the Buffet, Rosa must have seen us waiting to get in, and went ahead and had our red wine poured and ready on our table. This went on for our four remaining visits to the Buffet, with the addition of a fresh picked flower and/or fresh flower petals scattered around the table top. Rosa was by far the hardest working and most friendly person on staff, and managed to make every table that she got around to, feel her warmth and sincerity. I must mention that we had six days of rain during our stay that did not prevent us from enjoying our stay, partly thanks to Rosa, and we look very much forward to returning to Gran Ventana. Lastly, I would like to send a large thank you to Marcos Legreaux, the Rooms Division Manager, for managing to secure a ground floor unit for my wife....it was greatly appreciated. Gord and Gloria
