Our Top Shelf Maui Experience with Dining, Shopping & MORE!
The location of this hotel is perfect for spending time on the Ka'anapali Beach side (almost like Waikiki Beach vibe except on a chill level). Immediately when we arrived, the valet service asked to assist with our bags, they were awesome. The atmosphere was really popping when we arrived, they had Hawaiian music playing, hula dancers and it was really festive and decorated beautifully for Christmas. When we entered near the reception desk, we were greeted by our Hokupa'a representative who walked us to the Lana'i experience private registration area. If you are staying at the hotel, the Hokupa'a Tower is the best experience and make sure your room includes the "Lana'i Experience" as it means your own private lounge and experience with bites at breakfast & dinner along with unlimited snacks throughout the day. This in itself, saved SO MUCH MONEY. We love savings! The hotel is clean, modern & staff everywhere are so friendly. The ladies at the Lounge are very "above & beyond", I wish I could remember their names, but they remembered our names every day! I do remember a lady named, Caroline who checked us in, her customer service was really above & beyond. Loved her. Also, another lady that worked the front desk, long black hair and cutest dresses, she was fabulous too! This is our go-to hotel in Maui, non-negotiable, we love it. Additionally, they have a huge arcade (great for adults too), and phenomenal shopping & dining right next door to the hotel! Lastly, the pools are excellent, beach right out front of the hotel, we went twice in 2025 and we'll be back often again in 2026.

Nice place.
Just got back after staying a week. I totally agree with the most recent reviews others have written. The location, service and ameninities are all top notch! One samall thing I might add is the price of the valet service ($55 daily) vs self park ($50). If I had to do it again, I might have skipped the valet due to the constant tipping on pickup and dropoff. Its a small thing and the valet service is stellar but it adds up quickly and I don't mind parking a car. Lastly, I think I need to add how great the snorkling is from the beach in front of the resort! We paid for a snorkling trip and due to weather/visabilty issues, we weren't able to go to Molikini (sp?). The one spot we did go to wasn't any better than the area in front of the hotel. Next time I might venture more toward the cliffs fo the right but plenty of fish and turtles were within 40 yards of the shore.

Solid option in Kaanapali. Recommend Hokupaa tower.
Stayed for six nights in 10/2025. We had initially booked a room in the Kukahi Tower but upgraded to Hokupaa Tower at check in ( gets you access to the Lanai Lounge) for additional $189 PER NIGHT. Our room faced the Whaler’s Village and had a good view of the ocean. Room: clean, bright, good size. Nice bathroom. No carpet. Comfortable bed. Nice crisp bedding. Good pillows. Excellent housekeeping. Unfortunately the music from the restaurants below was very loud with deep base so i found it very annoying. Lanai Lounge: open from 7am-9pm. Nice breakfast consisting of: meat options that changed daily (bacon, sausage) scrambled eggs everyday, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit, salad. They also served smoothies, açaí bowls, and spam Musubi on some mornings. Also enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres in the evening as well as dessert. Food was good in taste and quality. Chips, granola, and nuts were available during the daytime. It was VERY busy at breakfast time. Lanai lounge was beautiful and had excellent views of the ocean and the sunset. It was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the main pool. We did not use the main pool or sit by the main pool at all. We spent most of our “resort time” at the lanai lounge. Location of the hotel: very convenient for walking to whalers village. The game room/arcade (can’t recall the name) is the best kept secret in kaanapali! Would be a fun place for kids and maybe adults to hang out away from the sun. Grounds: very well kept. Beautiful lobby with the waterfall.

Too much pounding bass...all day!
Wonderful place...but I agree with other reviewers...why do they have to play pounding bass all day? What about beautiful soft Hawaiian music...that's one of the special things about Hawaii.

A great option depending on the way you like to travel
Westin Maui was the first stop of three on the island - and of the three places (Kaanapali, Wailea & Airport adjacent) was probably the overall best outfitted resort. Major wins were: -ocean view room - I think its worth it based on the location, however, the non ocean view rooms did face the sunrise, so win there! -beach access -Some reviews reference long waits for chairs at the beach/pool or limited availability. We went post holidays, so probably a slower time but also didn't use these services. I could see that being a hassle. For us, the beach being right there and accessible in seconds was a huge win. -Spa & Spa Staff - its expensive, but the massage was great - cabana front was the way to go. I didn't take advantage of all the amenities in the spa, but there were A LOT and I could see that making the hefty price tag even more worth it, but I was so pleased with my massage as it was! Everyone at the Spa was sooo friendly, too. -Location - walkable all through Whaler's Village and up and down the beach. Opportunities: -Communication of amenities- we were lucky that we stumbled upon the discount card others mentioned when we asked the concierge a few questions. The front desk did not cover amenities/offerings thoroughly which I felt was an opportunity. -Condition of the property - starting to feel a bit tired. The outdoor spaces make up for this as they are beautifully landscaped and well kept, but, it is worth noting as rooms are expensive - we were pleased to have the ocean to distract us, but I wouldn't say the rooms are necessarily the biggest highlight. We left for all meals, so no comments on food - seemed to be decent options but for us exploring local non - resort restaurants seemed like a better idea. If you're like us and appreciate having the beach at your feet and a central location for adventuring with an occasional dip in the pool or visit to the Spa/fitness offerings - this should check all your boxes!!!
