Loved this place! Great for families!
This place is gorgeous from the moment you walk through the entrance. So many pool options, beach right out the property walkway, comfortable beds. Rooms a little tight and of course everything is overpriced but this is really the best resort we have been to in awhile for families. Slides, caves, basketball hoop, water area for kids! So fun! Must visit as it’s also right next to whalers village for shopping

Terrific place to stay in Ka'anapali - probably the best on the strip!
Amazing time at this hotel. Honestly, there is nothing not to like (unless you really want to be isolated and on a less busy strip). (first: remember not to ask staff members about last year and the fire! They are at work trying to block out trauma, not be asked by well-meaning guests about it several times a day, k?) ROOM: We booked superior ocean view (high floor, great view across the pool & foliage to the ocean) in the main tower, which was cheaper than the new building (Hokupa'a) they are trying to push. We loved our room, and it's super easy to get to and from the room and the beach. (we had stayed previously at the Hyatt, which was a big trek back to our room through pathways from the beach or pool). View was amazing. Things were quiet. Room was new and modern. Sleep quality was excellent. I understand these rooms are smaller than at hotels like the Hyatt, which might matter if you're 4 people in a room, but we were 2 in each room. DEALS: We did the AAA rate which came with $100 in credit per room per day. That was terrific! It was usable at every restaurant and bar on property (excluding Ulu) and also the Spa. f we wanted to eat breakfast and/or lunch and/or have drinks or coffee in the hotel, it made them essentially free (or reduced the rate for the massages to something less exorbitant), and the rate was very reasonable. LOCATION: Right on the main drag, next to Whalers, gorgeous views, so well-located. So many food choices right next door so you're not stuck just eating hotel food. And you can walk up and down as much as you want and get your steps in and get away from the hecticness by going south. The beach is just a few steps past the pool, and really lovely. STAFF: Everyone was super nice. The Concierges are local and were wonderful. Big ups to both Jens (who helped me at different times) & to the concierge with long black hair whose family has a permanent jewelry business. I went to one of the holiday pop-ups for displaced Lahaina businesses, and suggested to her that they tell more guests - and she was like, ooh, my family was there! All of the concierges were so gracious, and NOT pushing doing expensive tours if you just want to do something cheap or free like go hiking on the Kapalua trails. DINING: There are definitely some inconsistencies with the restaurants - but the best thing is that you are not STUCK here - it's easy to go to all the great choices right next door in Whalers (Island Gourmet Coffee, Choice Health Bar, Joey's, Da Nani Pirates Food Truck, Leilani's, Monkeypod, Hula Grill) if you don't feel like eating here. Here's a quick summary of the restaurants on property. Hale Mo'olelo: very well situated, pretty: you can get drinks here, have lunch or take it away from here (very fast), or do filet mignon etc for dinner. I found it a bit inconsistent, and after dining here one night we only did takeout for lunch later in the week. But it has lots of choices (the beyond burger was delicious in addition to meat and fish and other veg choices). So it's one option. Honestly, I wasn't crazy about any of the drinks I got here, but that mattered less to me than the overall experience. Ulu Kitchen: New place from Merriman's at the hotel, but not owned by the hotel (you can do room charges there, but you can't use your daily credit there). Super inconsistent. We ate their a bunch because it's close & some of the food was really good. But some of it wasn't and the service was inconsistent. It was VERY easy to walk in though, which is different from Merriman's Monkeypod in Whalers. So it's a good option for a last minute meal. Market: this place deservedly gets a lot of hate on here. The "hot breakfast" (the only one on the property besides Starbucks, and Ulu which is separately owned) is pretty sad looking (not made to order). The acai bowls are supposed to be much better - but they were really icy, and not as good as similar ones in Whalers. BUT they have some super yummy things here too and I can't hate on that. The pastry program is fanastic. The croissant and the caramel macademia nut banana bread are each $7 - and the banana bread was HUGE. Once I tasted these I needed one of them every day. Overall, I'd come back here in a second. If you're looking just to be close to nature, so somewhere else in Maui. But if you want to be in Ka'anapali, with all the dining choices walkable and not use your car - this is an outstanding choice. Super comfortable, friendly, lots of great food onsite or nearby!

Great stay, bad finances
This hotel was amazing! It had a great beach, great activities, great water park, and the Whalers Village next door was great! The Lanai was awesome and was a meeting place for our entire family. They did charge us for our room 3 times and then accuse us of fraud though.

Poor attitude from staff, substandard room, not compensated
Paid a fortune for an ocean view room. Was told on arrival that they were oversold, put in a room without an ocean view and they refused to reimburse me for the difference. No one is even willing to tell me what the price difference is. A resort credit was offered but is insufficient. Very disappointing. Unprofessional attitude from staff. Never again.

Great overall if you’re looking for a nice, clean, and affordable way to stay in Maui.
Overall a great experience. Check in took longer than it should have, and learned that there is no elite club access if you are not staying in the luxury tower, which was a significant cost difference. We had the option to upgrade but didn’t feel it was worth it. Staff were very nice and they were able to keep us in the same room despite me having to make separate reservations. Room was nice and clean and had a great ocean view. Food was top notch and tons of activities to participate in for additional fees. Plenty of pool and beach space and nowhere felt crowded. The spa was lacking in amenities but the service itself was 12/10 - Paris was fantastic! Came here for a best friend trip but would feel very comfortable here as a solo female traveler.
