Well-run resort / lots of people

The location is great. The 7-mile beach has calm water, it's one of the best in the Caribbean. You don't get such water in the rest of Grand Cayman. Westin is very well run, it seems very professional and organized. A lot of options exist right there, ranging from multiple restaurants to water sports and sail trips. One small problem with our balcony door was fixed immediately by maintenance. We really enjoyed the coffee house, Beach House restaurant, and Woto sushi. Views: Ocean view freak here. We had a pool/ocean view room in the middle of the resort, at the 4th floor. The ocean view was great, no problems by looking at the pool. If you get the 1st floor (lanai) beachfront rooms, that's probably the worst view in the entire resort, as some umbrella sheds block the view. The 2nd floor beachfront rooms probably have the best view in the entire resort; but they are much pricier. The best value must be the "partial ocean view" rooms, which are facing north/south and they are cheaper. All the balconies have a 45 degree angle, so you are pretty much facing the ocean (!!). That's where I would stay if I visited again. There is also remarkable sound proofing. Around 8 pm there was live music playing right below us. You couldn't really hear it from inside the room. Take that from a family with a light-sleeper toddler. Be aware that this is a very busy resort with lots of people. If you are looking for something private and relaxing, this is not the right vibe for you. Mostly there are families with teenage kids, but 1-2 kid groups gave a frat vibe. As a result, it's tough to get sunbeds/umbrellas that are first/second row to the beach (small umbrella/guests ratio). Some parties "reserve" the sunbeds first thing in the morning by placing a couple of towels, without even being there. A hack is to go to the edge of the resort and get sunbeds close to the Beach House restaurant; much less competition there.

Overall one of the best on SMB

Prime beach location. Excellent beach service with the touch a button. We used it daily. Towels abundant and chairs regularly cleaned. Pool was a bit dirty so we seldom used it. Beach servers were excellent. Beach ambassadors were great to help you find chairs etc especially dur8ng spring break. They should monitor non-guest usage more carefully as many cruise ship walk-bys were using the chairs/umbrellas on busy days. Overall staff was excellent. One bartender (distinctively tall) was very sour towards the females in our party, even once refusing to provide water to us after morning yoga. Third stay and we will return.

    Worst hotel experience I’ve had

Worst hotel experience I’ve had. We were initially assigned Room 244, which is without question the worst room in the hotel. It’s located directly above the lobby and bar, and the noise was unbearable. The room was literally vibrating from the music and activity below—completely unacceptable and impossible to rest. The only reason this didn’t completely ruin our stay is because a second room had accidentally been reserved under our name by the group coordinator. We were eventually moved there, and while it was slightly better, no guest should ever be placed in Room 244 without a warning. What makes this even worse is that I was charged for BOTH rooms, bringing my total bill to over $12,000—even though the first room was completely unusable due to the noise. That is unacceptable. If that second room had not existed, we would have had no choice but to stay in Room 244 because we were told the hotel was sold out—yet I personally saw multiple empty rooms during our stay. Service was extremely disappointing. When I went down to address the issue, the manager stayed in the back office watching a show and never came out to assist. Instead, the front desk employee had to go back and forth relaying messages. Only after multiple attempts did we even discover the second room reservation. This was also marketed as a “prime ocean view” room, which is completely misleading. The view was significantly blocked by a pergola, making it far from what anyone would consider a true ocean view (see attached photos). I also spoke with other guests who were complaining about their “view rooms” as well, so this does not seem to be an isolated issue. For a stay costing over $12,000, you expect a high level of service, honesty, and basic courtesy. This hotel failed on all fronts. Avoid Room 244 at all costs, and be cautious of what they call “ocean view.”

    Prime location

The Westin Grand Cayman is a beautiful resort with an excellent location. It is roughly in the middle of Seven Mile Beach which stretches ad far as you can see. The pool was nice and neither the beach nor the pool area were super crowded. The restaurants were all very goid and there were plenty of other options within a short walk or cab ride. I highly recommend the Westin.

THE ONLY PLACE TO STAY IN GRAND CAYMAN

Grand Cayman is an amazing place to visit, and where you stay can make a huge difference in your overall experience. The Westin Grand Cayman is absolutely the place to be if you want the best of everything. The hotel is perfectly located on Seven Mile Beach and offers one of the largest and most beautiful beach areas on the island, over 100 yards of perfect sand and no large rocks in the water. They even set up floating docks and cabanas in the water where guests can relax, lay out, and dive off. The beach staff is second to none—friendly, attentive, and always accommodating. Special thanks to Linton and Doreth, who took care of us every day. They always remembered our names and made the experience feel personal. It’s clear they genuinely love what they do and take pride in making guests happy. The pool bar is another highlight. Every bartender there is knowledgeable, attentive, and most importantly...fun. They really know how to set the tone for a great day. The swim-up bar is a great spot to spend an afternoon, and the lobby bar inside is excellent as well with a great selection of spirits and live music most evenings. And I have to mention Thomas makes an outstanding Old Fashioned. Now moving inside the hotel...this is where things really stood out. The front door staff and concierge team provide service that rivals a St. Regis. From the moment we arrived, they wouldn’t let us touch a bag or open a door the entire stay. They were always genuinely happy and welcoming, which set the tone for every day of our trip. A special thank you to Paul, Kirk, Marlon, Kadeen, Thomas, and Harry. You are the first impression for every guest who walks through those doors, and you absolutely get it right. Finally, I want to thank an incredible woman named Ombretta. She is truly the main reason our stay was so special. As a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador member, I worked with her in guest relations, and she went above and beyond. She arranged a beautiful Lanai walk-out room that was immaculate and offered stunning sunset views every evening. She also personally introduced us to the staff members mentioned above to make sure we were in great hands throughout our stay. Every day when I passed the front desk, Ombretta would greet me by name and check in to make sure everything was perfect. Every conversation with her was thoughtful, genuine, and caring. She truly made our stay memorable. Thank you to the entire team at the Westin Grand Cayman. You are truly the only place to stay on the island, and every one of you deserves recognition for the incredible job you do. We will miss you all… until next time.
