    Don't let the "Royal" in their name fool you

    Don't let the "Royal" in their name fool you or their proximity to the airport or cruise ports. Just avoid this hotel, period. A few notes from our stay: - The rooms are falling apart - The front desk staff are unhelpful and rude - They were out of towels by mid-morning - If you arrive early, your room will never be ready, but an identical room will be available for $150 early check-in charge, weird /s Out of all the hotels we vacationed at over the years, this had to bring about the most stress out of all of them. We wrote to corporate and received similar response we had at the hotel. Easy to say that we won't be staying at Sonesta Hotels ever again.

    Royal Sonesta San Juan condition

    I would like to report a maintenance concern at the hotel driveway area . The entrance lights are not working, and the lights from the hotel side-walk area are also not functioning. For a high-end property like The Royal Sonesta San Juan, this condition is concerning and does not reflect the standards expected of the brand, particularly regarding guest safety and presentation. I hope this issue can be addressed promptly.

    Great stay at the Royal Sonesta

    This was my first time staying at the Royal Sonesta but won’t be my last. I usually stay at the El San Juan next door but the room rates there have gotten so expensive, based on reviews I opted for the Royal Sonesta. My first impression was very positive. We arrived at the hotel around 1pm. The woman at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. Our room was ready upon our arrival which was a pleasant surprise. Check in was quick and easy and within 30 minutes we were down on the beach. Beach staff was quick and we grabbed two chairs with an umbrella. We had lunch a few times at the beach front bar. Service was good and the food was also. Husband got the smash burger which he loved I had the chicken sandwich and caesar salad, both of which were good. We opted for the breakfast buffet one morning. There were plenty of selections and also an omelette station where you can have your eggs cooked to order. Room service was fast also and the food arrived hot. Housekeeping was fantastic. We received service daily and if we needed anything sent to the room, it arrived within 10 minutes. Typically on vacation I spend half the day at the beach and the other half in the pool. I did not even swim in the pool this time. The beach was so wonderful. The room was more than sufficient. We had an ocean facing room with two queen beds. There is an ample size table with two chairs and also another chair and ottoman. Plenty of drawers and closet space for all your belongings. We had such a wonderful stay here that I hate to leave, but I look forward to my next visit. I can’t complain about one thing here. It was a fantastic stay.

    Formal Complaint Regarding Health and Customer Service Experience

    I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment and concern regarding my recent stay at your hotel. What was intended to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience was completely overshadowed by a serious health issue and unacceptable treatment by your staff. During my time at the hotel, I used the pool facilities and shortly after, I developed a skin condition that was later confirmed by a medical professional to be ringworm—a highly contagious fungal infection. This is not only distressing and uncomfortable, but it also strongly suggests that the pool areas were not being maintained or sanitized according to proper health and safety standards. What made this situation worse was the complete lack of empathy and professionalism shown by your staff. When I reported my concerns, I was met with rude, dismissive behavior, and no one took any real responsibility or offered meaningful assistance. At a time when I was clearly emotional and upset, I was treated with disregard, which only added to my stress and frustration. I trusted The Royal Sonesta brand to provide a clean, safe, and respectful environment. Instead, I left with a contagious skin infection and a terrible customer service experience. I believe this matter requires immediate attention, not only for my own peace of mind, but also to protect future guests from similar harm. I am requesting: • A formal apology from hotel management, • Reimbursement for any medical expenses related to this infection, • And a thorough investigation into the sanitation protocols for your pool and spa areas. Please take this matter seriously and respond at your earliest convenience. I look forward to hearing how you plan to address and rectify this situation.

    LOVE THIS HOTEL! My husband and I visit every year on our anniversary. Love the food, the beach, the proximity to the airport and most of all the excellent customer service!
