Terrible stay! Tired property, even worse service.
This a Ritz Carlton in name only. That is it! The property needs a full refurbishment to include the old and tired wall paper, the musty smelling carpets, the scratchy sounding Tivoli radios (purchase proper Bose). The Staff/Team, especially at the front desk and the concierge desk, are snobbish and are led to believe they work at some REAL 5 stars property. Nose up! No matter how many notes one has in their Bonvoy profile, things do not get done. Multiple phone calls to the various forgetful "guest service" operators are also futile. Housekeeping is a hit-and-miss. In room dining not stellar. The corridors resemble a college dorm with cleaning carts all over the places forcing the guests to zig-zag to reach a room. Raining...no problem, you must look for an umbrella, because the doormen do not offer them like in most upper class properties. San Francisco lacks true 5 starts properties, one can hope the new upcoming Rosewood property changes the landscape.

Top Quality Team & Wonderful Stay
Had a two-night stay at the hotel and from entry to exit the staff was incredibly accommodating. People at the resort need to be called out for the exemplary service they had. First was Reception - Kiriah at reception gave us very early access into our room at 6:30am as we had been driving for over 10 hours and up for over 24 hours. She was fabulous. Teresa also in reception was fabulous in assisting confirming logistics with our vehicle and valet. Second was Parallel 37 - Rei and Sui were simply phenomenal in their service, attention and how engaging they were. Rei brought us complementary juice and a fruit plate and enjoyed learning more about them and their families. The room was cozy and the grounds are decorated in a classy and professionally fashion. A great stay and mostly due to the staff and their ability to connect with its patrons.

Elegant and special
Perfect stay for an overnight holiday date. The hotel is still so glamorous! They remember the little touches that distinguish five-star hotels. We had a lovely cocktail in the bar before dinner. We had excellent service and the bar is so classy - cloth cocktail napkins, dark and moody lighting, little dish of olives and chips served with our drinks. The doorman was friendly and elegant and secured the house car for us a few times. One of the few hotels in the city with double vanities, which I really like. And last, but very notably, we had such a warm and friendly experience checking in with Zach. He is fantastic. We will be back!

Room with a view! (plus early check in!)
Spent 3 nights with wife over Veteran's Day Weekend. So first & foremost, this review starts and ends with FIVE STARS because they gave us an 8:00am check in!!! We had an early flight in from SoCal, planned on dropping luggage, picking up SFMOMA tix and checking in whenever it was ready. Upon arrival, the women at the front desk (forgot her name) said she was in charge of inventory and that the room was ready for check in at right then, 8am! Not only that, but that it had a great view. I've never had an 8am check in at any hotel in my life, upscale or economy! We're only gold status which is barely so-so status with Marriott so the early check in and club lounge access was greatly appreciated and from then on, they could pretty much do no wrong. However, when we arrived, the fog was thick and nothing was visible outside. As the day wore on and the fog burned off, we had a spectacular view of the bay, Coit Tower, the Transamerica Pyramid. You can't get a more iconic view of the SF skyline than we had from room 867! Early check in plus the view makes this an immediate 5 Star stay! Quick run down of other things... Room was very spacious. We've been in some smaller Ritz rooms at other properties that are pretty crampy full of furniture, this one was very spacious and relaxing. Room was very clean and in good repair. My wife loves the Diptyque amenities so those are appreciated. Shower/tub combo with the shower curtain reeks of a 3 star accomodation, but at least the shower head, pressure and temps were great. We had club lounge access so it's strange to have the stocked minibar for purchase. It'd be much preferable on club lounge floor to have that available to keep drinks or leftovers refrigerated. Club lounge food was mid. It was OK, but not near as good as food in the lobby downstairs or from other Ritz club lounges we've had in the past. Service across all areas was excellent! Wait staff in club lounge, front desk, doormen, bellmen, lobby bar, all excellent. Destination fee was $40/day but we felt the perks included covered it. We used the free SFMOMA tix, 2 cable car tix per day, and $40 food and beverage credit. Location of the property was excellent. Right on top of Nob Hill with lots of local activities well within walking distance or a free cable car ride, although hills are pretty steep surrounding the hotel. Overall this was one of our best stays and we'd definitely consider staying again in the future

Where is the restaurant?
The typical excellent Ritz Carlton with a very nice location a block from Nob Hill. Located right on the California cable line and one block from the Powell lines. Staff was impeccable, and the concierge was most helpful. hard to find fault with anything.EXCEPT there is not a full service restaurant in this hotel. you could tell that there once was one in the area that they now use for breakfast. The neighborhood is not exactly covered with fine dining opportunities.
