  Surprisingly sad in paradise

  I’m not one to complain…especially when I’m on vacation…BUT we’ve had several unexpected disappointments since our arrival which has not been the case on all my previous stays here: 1. Our room was ready for checkin much later than promised 2. Booking an ocean view room and getting a garden view room. We can see the ocean from the side of our balcony…but definitely NOT what is shown in the booking picture. 3. Not having power in the room and having to have maintenance come back twice to finally replace a breaker that kept tripping 4. Our refrigerator isn’t working and hasn’t for 2 days which does not bode well when Jody’s medication needs to be refrigerated. We’ve been keeping it in the ice bucket with us grabbing ice from the bar as it melts 🙄 5. There is no lighting in the hallways in our building so we have to stumble in the dark or remember to bring our phones to use the flashlight app. Clearly there has been some power issues in the building that have yet to be resolved.

  Palma Real does not disappoint!

  Just got back from the Palma Real and had a great time. The resort is beautiful, the beach is awesome, and the restaurants are great with the standout being Flora. A few notes and shoutouts - We stayed in the Reserve, which costs a bit more, but is completely worth it. There are some very helpful perks with the Reserve. The first is a dedicated concierge. Ours was Harry, who was great. We texted back & forth throughout our stay and he helped us with anything we needed and he made the whole vacation run smoothly. He must also be able to control the sun because with the exception of a couple hours one afternoon, it was out the whole time. Next you have access to a dedication section of the beach. Here Raphael was The Man. Didn't have to wake up a 6am to reserve seat on the beach because Raphael organized it everyday. He also grabs us towels and brought us drinks. All in all, excellent service from both Harry and Raphael! Beyond the Reserve - We ate lunch most days at the large buffet, where Luciana was super attentive. We also got some massages at the spa, where Jennifer and Lilate were also great. All in all, a great trip. This was our second time here and there will be a third!

  Amazing trip to Paradisus Palma Real!

  This was our fourth year staying at Paradisus Palma Real for a family vacation, and each visit continues to exceed expectations. Juan Peña, Customer Experience Manager, and Christopher Rivera, our concierge, are the best. They consistently strive to ensure a seamless and welcoming experience. They and are attentive and exceptional throughout our stay going above and beyond every day! They truly make us feel at home from the moment we arrive, and Meliá is very fortunate to have them. We look forward to seeing them during our stays. The resort is absolutely beautiful with well maintained, and comfortable rooms with excellent amenities. The beach and pools are wonderful with plenty of seating and shaded huts if needed. Seaweed from the ocean does get bad at times, but the staff works incredibly hard throughout the day to clear it. The dining experience continues to improve year after year. The buffet and à la carte restaurants offer something for everyone, and the food is very good and consistent considering the volume of guest and turnout they do daily. There are so many staff members to mention but I will just call out a few that we spent lots of time with that went above and beyond. Yanira, Rosanna, and Maria Ortiz at the Lunchbox (buffet) treated us like family every day. In the à la carte restaurants, Wander, Yuderque, Franklin, Frank, Jesus, Milton, Laura, Hostet, Kelvin, and Dionys went above and beyond. Coffee at Ginger Bar with Anthony and Jorge was a daily highlight. We also enjoyed multiple spa treatments that were outstanding thanks to Evangelista, Gladys, Fior, Maria, and Jennifer. The bell staff—Miguel, Jose, Lloelis, and Omar—were always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We had an amazing trip and highly recommend Paradisus Palma Real. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

  Great Family Place - Needs Few Touches to Make it Excellent

  The Great: The staff's attentiveness and overall service were top-notch, making our stay enjoyable. They were always willing to help and went above and beyond on several occasions (with a few exceptions, mentioned below). We really appreciated the personalized touches, like Ricki making it a point of getting our coffee in the morning’s just like we like it, and also remembering the kids names. Chema, the food and beverage manager always managed to come by and ask how everything was, Andres, our assigned concierge was also great and made sure we were well taken care of. Special mention to Alexandra and the rest of the staff in the kids area, they really took good care of our kids and they kept wanting to come back there for fun. The Good: Food was good, though options felt a bit limited - seemed like they stick to what they can mass-produce for an all-inclusive as should be expected, but a few of the restaurant options were top notch and quite tasty. The common areas and infrastructure were well-maintained and spacious. We loved hanging out by the pool area itself, just not the pool The Not So Good: Bathrooms across the property showed signs of wear and tear - The lock on our toilet door didn’t lock for example. Our room safe had a few non-working numbers, limiting our code options. Not a huge deal, but kinda annoying. And, btw there were no hooks to hang bath towels or wet bathing suits on . Also, major bummer on the pools - they weren't heated, so they felt like giant ice baths! My wife dipped her toes and was like nope, and the kids (who usually swim for hours) lasted like 20 minutes max. Not fun. The Bad: Check-in was a mess. We weren't given much info on the property, facilities, or what our pricing level included. And man, the constant push for Melia's Circle felt like a hard sell - we just wanted to check in, not get a membership pitch. Pre-check-in and check-in were particularly rough: our pre-check questionnaire seemed ignored, we had to ask multiple times for the sofa bed the be made and pillows, and towels were a whole ordeal. Had to make 4 calls over 3 hours for pillows and decent towels for our family. Once we got past those issues, we had a great time, but that start took us down a notch.
