Style over substance
This is the worst hotel we have stayed in this year, so many issues from arrival to departure. We stayed as a group of 4 couples from last Thursday until Sunday. The rooms are smallest I have ever stayed in with a shower but no bath. The hotel appears to concentrate on Style over customer care. The first night dinner was in a very nice room and most of the seafood was fine. The lasagne wasn’t great and my lobster pasta was so over cooked it was inedible. It was removed with no comment from the waitress. Breakfast was fine but not included in the room rate , and at 42 Euro poor value, we went elsewhere the rest of the week. Later in the evening we were sitting as a group below reception and we asked for a drink only to be told that this wasnt possible and the bar was full! Absurd in any hotel. The next day we asked for a dinner recommendation which was very professionally dealt with by a female concierge. However the Portuguese restaurant we went to was terrible. So bad that not one of us could eat the main course which they removed from the bill without comment. The Hotel should take some level of responsibility in recommending such a place. When we asked about checkout later in the evening we had an early flight, we were not asked the essential question of. “How was your stay ?” Nor was it asked the next morning. I only ever post reviews that are very good or very bad, but before I do I would like to see your response to my comments. Lisbon was great but your hotel experience was dreadful. Just posting this word for word as the hotel didnt bother to respond within 48 hours, judge for yourself how much they care.

Great hotel, great service
I booked this for my wife, daughter and myself using Marriott points plus cash to get a 'premium guest room' that could accommodate all three of us. I also tried to use some suite night upgrade awards; that cleared the day before we left so we were given a junior suite. We arrived and were greeted by the bell staff who took all of our luggage inside for us. Our room was ready: #107. Our first impression of the hotel was that it was very nice and had a distinctive boutique feel to it. The public areas were themed in an explorer motif and it was well done. I had thought it would be cheesy, but it was very very nice. The room was not huge, but it was very nice and worked for us. The best feature was that it had two full bathrooms, which is awesome when traveling as a family. The bathroom for my daughter was oddly larger than that hooked to the main sleeping room. The staff had the sofa bed already made up for my daughter along with a small bag of candy and some slippers/robe for her. Very nice. The bell staff brought us our luggage and proactively also brought in two more luggage stands; that's awesome and something most hotels don't do for us. We were also given a bottle of champagne and a chocolate dessert, which I assume was good because my wife and daughter devoured it. We had breakfast each day at the hotel. Each day the food and service were great. We would order eggs cooked to order (don't like runny scrambled eggs) and the food was great. We popped into the Rocco bar for drinks a couple of times. This is a happening and cool place for locals. We were able to get a seat each time, but it is definitely a place run for locals and not for guests. We didn't eat anything so we can't attest to the food; everyone who was eating sure seemed happy. The cocktails we ordered were great! We ordered room service one night when we were too tired to go out. The food was very good. I ordered a bottle of 'dry white wine' and someone from the bar came up with a menu. He helped me pick out a bottle which was delivered to the room. I uncorked it and the cork shattered; someone came back to help me open it. When we drank it, it tasted like a wet sock. We didn't call back down; that's on me not them. Everyone we encountered was great. Very helpful, cheery, professional. This was a great hotel for us and we'd definitely make a return trip. Highly recommended.

An outstanding experience
The Ivens is one of my favorite places we have ever stayed. The hotel is stunning - the rooms, the restaurants, and the bar are so beautifully decorated. We loved hanging out at the fabulous bar at night. Our room had so many special touches that you rarely see anymore in hotels. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is great - so close to everything we did. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

A wonderful hotel experience a The Ivens
The Ivens Hotel was outstanding to say the least. It has a wonderful vibe of a world class boutique hotel. Reminded us in some ways of the Bowery Hotel in NYC. For the first time since COVID I felt like we stayed somewhere that didn’t cut corners. Plenty of great staff, rooms serviced each day, and a great attention to all details. The on-site restaurant, Rocco had a fabulous bar and the restaurant was exceptional. Again great staff all around. It is located in a great location as well for shopping and exploring. We will stay there again.

Lovely
Lovely hotel and attentive staff. Staff was most helpful is every way, gave great recommendations for eateries in the local area. Hotel is located in a quiet street and walking distance to nearby eateries and such. I did have to use Bolt to get to most sites I wanted to visit as the area is very hilly but this is not a deterrent in anyway.
