A Perfect Stay at The Ivens, Lisbon
I rarely write reviews, but my stay at The Ivens in Lisbon was so exceptional that I had to share my experience. From start to finish, the staff provided impeccable service, making us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail truly stood out. The hotel itself is stunning, seamlessly blending modern luxury with the charm of Lisbon. Every aspect of the property, from the beautifully designed interiors to the comfortable and well-appointed rooms, reflects a commitment to excellence. As a Marriott Gold member, I always appreciate thoughtful service, but The Ivens exceeded expectations. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable, creating an experience that felt personalized and special. This was one of the most enjoyable stays I’ve had in a long time. I wholeheartedly recommend The Ivens to anyone visiting Lisbon and look forward to returning in the future.

Near PERFECT !
We spent Thanksgiving week in Portugal and booked 2 rooms for 3 night at The Ivens. We arrived earlier than published check-in time and was immediately greeted by the most charming accommodating door man and hotel staff (Miguel and Rueben are the best) , who much to our surprise told us both rooms were ready. The quaint boutique hotel is simply beautiful. Check-in is upstairs and it is seamless, quick and very efficient. The offering of water and Prosecco is a great check-in treat especially coming in from a long travel day. Our rooms were GREAT, and even though some of the complaints on trip advisor is on the size (small) of the rooms, we found them to be adequately appointed and simply beautiful. Bathroom are luxurious, amazing water pressure, the towels, sheets and pillows are the BEST. The four of us slept sound in our beautiful and COMFORTABLE rooms. The free mini-bar is awesome, beer, water, soda's and juices - all at your disposal. The location CANNOT be beat. ANYTHING you need The Ivens aims to provide. The service is TOP NOTCH - 1000%. The reason for my 4 star rating - and not 5 is the restaurant situation at the hotel - Rocco. Visually it's one of the most stunning restaurants I have been to - just aesthetically amazing. But the beauty of the restaurant is overshadowed by the lack of customer service - with the exception of the bar severs - they were great. One thing to know is that even if you are a hotel guest, you cannot sit at the bar unless you are ordering food, instead you are directed to "bench" seating which lines the walls across the actual bar. The seating is lovely and not a problem, however we were there during low season. I would imagine getting a seat at the "bar" would be difficult during high season, and would be quite annoying as a hotel guest if you were not able to find a place to sit. We enjoyed drinks nightly and the servers could not be more pleasant - so it was odd to me that the breakfast and dinner service was not up to par with the bar service. Service at Breakfast (which was included) and at Dinner were pretentious, aloof and honestly just bad. The breakfast offering is good - a small buffet with includes an menu to order from. The food at breakfast was delicious, but the service was pretty much non-existent. Dinner at Rocco was a huge disappointment. We reserved a table for our last evening in Lisbon as a celebratory dinner to end our trip. Service was HORRIBLE - Food was just OK at best. We were rushed, questions about things on the menu remained unexplained and the general attitude of the wait staff was really just unlike anything we experienced in Portugal. We were so excited to eat at Rocco, but our experience that evening left a bad taste in our mouth, especially after having incredible dinners elsewhere ( JNCQUOI Avenida and BAHR) in Lisbon. I HIGHLY recommend The Ivens as a hotel, especially if you like the personalized service of a boutique hotel. But they are "attached" to Rocco, and unless they become more accommodating to the guest of The Ivens or just be nicer to their patrons - I am just not sure about staying there again. That being said, I would hate for anyone to not stay at The Ivens due to our experience at Rocco - so STAY at The Ivens and DO NOT go to Rocco for dinner!

Great location, very small room
The room is VERY small. It was advertised as a room with a balcony, however we could not go out on the balcony, i.e. no chairs, you can barely stand up, it’s more like a edge. The hotel is really old so you hear everything, paper thin walls. The shower in the room is nice and the hotel is very well situated. As a platinum member you do get free breakfast and you get free mini bar! That was a nice perk! We would likely look for another option on our next stay. Service was good

Explorer the Ivens in Lisbon
This is a Marriott Autograph Hotel in the Chiado neighborhood of Lisbon. We were in a well-appointed suite. The bed was comfortable. Not a lot of plugs for the electronics so bring a multi-adaptor. The room had a hand held shower and a rain shower combo but as with many hotels in Spain and Portugal you need to aim the hand held nozzle towards the wall when getting in or else you may flood the floor when it first sprays. The neighborhood had plenty of stores open late and some very good gelato places. The hotel has an explorer theme with staff dressed as African explorers as Mr Ivens was an explorer and the hotel uses his name as does an adjacent street. The breakfast was very good. I would go there again.
