The LA Experience .......
I love this hotel, makes you feel like your back in the 70s. Love its history. Hotel clean, comfortable and well situated for local attractions. Outdoor swimming pool with two Jacuzzis. If I could change anything it would be to book two weeks instead of one. Can be a bit noisy next to the freeway but it really didn't bother me, I put it all down to the "LA experience" :)

EXCEPTIONAL boutique hotel
Yes, it's "thing" is campy 1960s-70s decor, and yes, it caters to a Universal Studios crowd, and yes it's close to the freeway, but none of that is what distinguishes this boutique hotel, for me. Simply put, this was the best hotel stay I have had in Los Angeles in my memory (and I lived in LA for over a decade). Best trained and kindest staff ANYWHERE, immaculate and extremely well-planned rooms (EVERYTHING is just where you would want it to be and beds SO clean and comfortable), very good food in restaurant, all sorts of thoughtful pricing considerations, and SO convenient for my purposes in studio city and surrounds. I will absolutely make The Garland my go-to hotel for my LA visits. I have never experienced such thoughtful and considerate service and planning in any hotel anywhere in the US (and maybe even abroad). TRULY a find!! Thank you, my Garland friends, for all you do to be an exceptional hotel destination. I could not have been happier or more comfortable during my 5-day stay. You will be my LA home away from home!

Hotel and staff good but check for extra charges
We stayed in this hotel may 2023 - whilst we were there we parked our hire car in their car park - was advised by reception it was free being a resident of hotel - but we now see that there was a 2 charges per night - parking and parking tax. Be careful of charges at this hotel - check credit card charges as soon as you can. Whilst we were there the hotel and staff were good but it has left a bitter taste in our mouth after being charged for tax that we didn't need to be charged for

LOVE The Garland
I absolutely LOVE The Garland. The vibe is super, the place is adorable, there's a hot tub, a swimming pool, & yummy healthy foods that I could eat. The staff were really nice (friendly & personable), the free shuttle service to Universal was convenient, & my room was lovely & clean. At night, they show a movie at the pool (if you happen to want to "go out" while staying in). There's beautiful acoustic music in their outdoor courtyard, & outside warmers to help take off the chill of the colder night air. My dinner of fish tacos was delicious. Staying here was a major splurge for me, but it made me really happy. My only wish is that (one day), they'll have cheaper rooms for solo traveling artists like myself. Even so, I will absolutely be recommending The Garland to my friends. Everything about being there was a total joy.

A peaceful sanctuary in a busy city!
We stayed in a Deluxe room for 4 nights in May - the room was great! A decent sized balcony, (although we didn't use this as it faced the car park), great sized room and bathroom perfect for 4 nights in LA. Although the hotel is flanked by busy roads, you can only hear a quiet hum of traffic when inside and around the hotel making a perfect place to relax and unwind after a hectic day in the busy city! We had a hired a car and found ample “self-park” parking at the back of the hotel, which was also safe and secure. Parking is an additional cost (as expected in LA) but you are given a pass that you can use throughout your stay. The room includes a hair dryer, steamer (in place of a iron) and a good sized safe. Food at The Front Yard was brilliant, although it does get busy so make sure you book if you want to visit! We also found the room service and food around the pool / patio area was great too. The pool area is great, with lots of seating and plenty of sun. You can also get food and drink around the pool which is great if you plan on staying put all day! During our stay we visited Universal Studios - there is a free tram service from the hotel, but we didn’t use this as we had early access to the park, which is earlier than the tram starts, so we drove which only took 8 minutes!! We also visited Disneyland. That took about an hour due to a bit of traffic getting out of LA, but easily doable! All in all, great hotel if you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city.
