Christmas in Boston
What a charming stay we had during the Christmas season. The lobby was beautifully decorated complete with the hotel black lab all decked out with his Christmas collar. The room was perfect with a gorgeous and generous bathroom. We slept well. And, we loved the OAK Long Bar just off the lobby...bustling all day!

Wonderful hotel
We got a fab deal on this hotel with British Airways as a package, which made it phenomenal value. It’s a very traditional hotel in an ornate building. The rooms are traditional and comfortable with good amenities. We had a double room which meant we had a double bed each, which was fab. The bathrooms are marble, showers are big, double sinks, with complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion for use during your stay. The urban experience fee is fairly hefty, but they do give you a credit to use in the restaurant, and you get a free in room movie. We didn’t do breakfast so can’t comment on that, but the restaurant at dinner time has a cosy atmosphere, the staff are friendly and the food is yummy. Portions are quite big, too, so we definitely overestimated how much we would need. The hearth bread is wonderful! Housekeeping also do a turn down service where they tidy up a bit while you’re out at dinner and leave you some slippers for when you get back. We would stay here again if we come back to Boston.

A disappointing visit
We were generally disappointed in this once iconic hotel. The public spaces were grand but our bedroom was unremarkable and generally rather tired. There was mould on the shower seals and bathroom flooded easily from the shower. The biggest disappointment was that there was really only one bar/restaurant for such a large hotel. This resulted in a queue to be seated at breakfast. Not normally too much of an issue but the delay was because one lady receptionist was answering the phone and managing the queuing guests. After a 15 minute wait we reached the front to be hold that we should have had made a reservation. We were told we would have to wait 90 minutes for the next free table as there was a priority list of Gold members who had first call and many of whom failed to take their reservations, but with the receptionist calling each to confirm if they no longer needed their table! We were told to complain at the concierge and joined another queue of disatisfied guests unable to have their pre-paid breakfasts! The queuing process was the same for pre or after dinner drinks due to again there being only one bar/ restaurant. Added to the numerous guests needing seated we competed with the many walk ins who also queued for a table. Despite paying in advance for breakfast we ended up eating breakfast in another hotel.

Simply fantastic
I cannot begin to explain how we’ve been made to feel, from the moment we arrived till the moment we checked out, we’ve been totally spoiled by the employees. Upon arrival, at the entrance, the bellman greeted us and offered to take our bags. A great look, particularly when we’d flown in from the UK and were tired. The front desk staff are simply exemplary, Taylor and Stephanie come in for a mention here. Nothing is too much trouble, so kind and helpful. The bellmen were a really nice bunch of guys too, offering great advice on restaurants, taxis, trains etc. A fountain of knowledge. The hotel lobby and corridors, are simply stunning. The Christmas decorations added to the charm and feel of the hotel. I’ll move onto the room now. We just loved the traditional feel and decor. It’s very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Very spcious and comfortable. The only thing we didn’t do was dine here. The one thing I’ll say is this. The menu looks very nice and not too pricey for such an exclusive hotel. All in all one of the best stays we’ve had in a very long period of time. Thank you all very much.
