Great place to stay
I had a great experience at The Equus in Honolulu. The staff was super friendly and helped me in real time modification of my reservation. The room was clean and very comfortable. The overall location of the hotel is great to reach congress center and several beaches located in the area. The bar in the patio was super chill and the drinks were great with amazing bartender !!! Highly recommended
The Equus and Lincoln rock!
As soon as we walked into the door at the Equus I felt so welcomed by Lincoln! Lincoln is so friendly and kind. Not only is he super nice but gave my family and I a bunch of great recommendations for our trip! This hotel is so nice and I’m so happy we’re staying here!
Beware of “Boutique” hotels
You definitely get what you pay for with this little beauty. 1. Reception is just a short walk with luggage up to the second floor 2. The rooms have no sound proofing and face the main Ala Moana rd. so heavy traffic noise late night and early morning 3. No room telephone 4. Smelly carpet in rooms 5. Bed lamps don’t work. 6. Dingy little bathroom and shower recess. Not what’s in the pictures 7. Balcony doors are “secured “ with wire 8. The lift trips out regularly. The name plate states 2000lb capacity (approx 880kg or around 12 persons) but I got caught in the lift with 6 others. Hotel reception told us that the max was 4 persons. They’re still reading and referring to the covid specifications unfortunately. 9. If you get stuck in the lift, the response from the front desk is to call the manufacturer on the mainland. In other words, they don’t have a response plan or even a maintenance plan for their faulty lift. So do what we did and call 911.
Awful hotel, worst we have stayed at
The hotel we had the misfortune to stay at was dreadful. It had been booked and paid for by our booking agent in advance but when we arrived they demanded a further $52 for Wifi (which the hotel online site states is free), pool towels (not used as the hotel pool was dark, dingy and the size of a postage stamp) and a welcome drink an unnecessary glass of awful wine or a small beer or cola). When querying the extra demanded, we were told we could always go elsewhere. There were a lot of steps going right up to the hotel (no help with our luggage, impossible for less mobile guests). No food at all apart from a muffin and coffee at breakfast which we never partook. The bedroom was dark, dingy and very old, horrible in fact. The reception area is tiny, one can't swing a cat in it and the bar area was not much better. In all, the 'hotel' was no better than a basic motel in the States but at several times the price. Nothing going for it apart from the location fairly near a beach just ten minutes walk away.
Welcoming and comfortable
Not a "modern" hotel but very comfortable and welcoming staff. Room was large, with balcony. Coffee maker & fridge in room. Close to shopping mall and bars/restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only downside is can be noisy from nearby traffic. Thank you to Linette, Lincoln, Yulia & Jacquie.
