  A Gem of a Hotel — The Staff Make It Truly Special

  We recently stayed at the Hilton Caledonia as a family with teenagers and can honestly say it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and genuinely inviting. The food was excellent throughout our stay. Whether it was breakfast to set us up for the day or dinner to wind down in the evening, the quality and variety consistently impressed. But without question, the greatest asset this hotel has is its staff. Every member of the team we encountered was friendly, attentive, and professional — but one person truly stood out. Joseph on reception went above and beyond at every turn. Nothing was too much trouble, and his warmth and helpfulness made a real difference to our stay. He's the kind of person who makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another booking. A special mention too for the helpful recommendations the team gave us for things to do in Edinburgh

  An unexpected Edinburgh adventure

  Just completed a Saturday overnight stay at the Caledonian in Edinburgh. It was great and really 4.5 stars out of 5. Initially the trip was booked for my dad’s birthday but after he wasn’t able to attend we took his place. We were greeted at the door and checked in without issue. Customer service faultless, really warm welcome. We received a complimentary upgrade to a castle view room which was very generous, however it ended up being the only bit that let the hotel down. The room was lovely, looked fresh, very spacious bathroom and excellent water pressure in the room. The only downside was, our room being on Lothian road, which meant the noise levels were pretty constant and caused us to wake up quite a few times. I think with the original windows, sound proofing will be very difficult. That being said, it was lovely to wake up and be able to see the castle and the location of the hotel is central to a busy area of town, so maybe to be expected. We arranged for room service breakfast in the morning. Arrived bang on time that we ordered for. The full cooked breakfast and the eggs Benedict was really nice. Extra plates of fruit and meats and cheese, very tasty. A little expensive to have it delivered to the room, as it was included in the room rate but we were happy to pay. The hotel’s interior is lovely, quite a luxurious feel. Nice smell and everything looked clean. Check out, no issues at all. Then just a short walk to Haymarket to jump on our train back to Glasgow. Another successful Martin trip!! 😁

  10/10 stay

  Stayed during February. Spent some time in the court bar and the caley bar. Both teams were very attentive. Nicole from the court and Ellie from the Caley bar. Lukasz was a fantastic personality in the court.

  Amazing icecream!

  I want to say a huge thank you to Tahlia, who was absolutely amazing. She is so sweet and made me feel so welcome from the moment I arrived. She really went above and beyond to look after me, and her recommendations were spot on. Speaking of recommendations, you have to try the ice cream, it was incredible! Between the delicious treats and Tahlia’s warm hospitality, it was a highlight of my trip to Edinburgh. I cannot recommend visiting The Caley enough if you are looking for a friendly, top-tier experience in the heart of the city. I will definitely be back!
