Buccaneer saved our anniversary trip. Amazing property, amenities and world class staff
Amazing place to stay. Went to St Croix for our 20th anniversary & were booked at another resort (a disaster and a dump- don’t stay at the Carambola) We called from that resort & the Buccaneer staff went above & beyond to get us a wonderful room and even upgraded us to the honeymoon suite. The owner gave us a sweet note and bottle of champagne. That level of service was exhibited by everyone on staff. They took what was going to be a disaster and turned it into a memorable, romantic getaway. Gorgeous property, wonderful amenities & friendly courteous staff. We would definitely return.

Deceptive reviews: not what I expected
Customer service great in some areas Mr one in other. Facilities are unkempt. Two days in row, there was leftover food on beach that attendants ignored, while regulating seating. No one removed debris from beachfront. Facilities old, not worth the cost.

Beautiful Property with Great Service
The resort is beautiful, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and very clean. The pool area and beaches were lovely and comfortable. the food at the restaurants was good, but the choices were somewhat limited. The views were gorgeous!

Expensive
How can anyone enjoy the beach and food at the Mermaid Restaurant when we have to pay $35 for each lounge chair. I am already purchasing food which is not cheap to them pay an outrageous fee just ti sit at the beach. If you have to charge consider $10-$15.

Second visit as good at the first
We visited The Buccaneer in July 2024 for our wedding anniversary. It was our second stay at The Buccaneer and third to St. Croix. Everything and everyone was delightful. Even before we arrived, Lea Larson helped us make dinner reservations at restaurants both on and off the Buccaneer site. We stayed in one of the Ridge Rooms which had a grand view of the resort and the Caribbean, plus the steady breeze on the ridge made it cooler even on hot days. The Ridge rooms provide convenient access to the Terrace restaurant for breakfast and dinner and it's easy to drive down to the beach. We also dined at the beach front Mermaid restaurant which was surprisingly good and enjoyed a fire dancer show. The beach was clean (they rake it smooth every morning), there was always a towel attendant and even a fresh water shower at the Mermaid beach to rinse off. BTW, we were there a week and saw not one shred of sargassum. Buccaneer owner Elizabeth Armstrong has created a remarkable sustaining work culture where every member of her staff at every level are ubiquitously cheerful and helpful. IMHO the Buccaneer is the best hotel on St. Croix.
