Dec 10, 2025Beautiful Sunset Resort
Sunset Plaza review: Wonderful stay! We recently spent 2 weeks at the Sunset Plaza. Everything was wonderful, from our check-in to check-out. Our Butler Ruben, was there when we needed him and always friendly. The restaurant food was very good quality and we had great service. We want to give a big shout-out to a few people that really went beyond great customer service. The first is Raul, the main Activities guy. He is so friendly and always working to help make your vacation a fun one. Sofia and Jose in the Lounge bar were also outstanding. They remembered our drink of choice and were so friendly. The pool side waiters all did a great job hustling to fill everyone’s orders. They work so hard. And also thanks to Mario at the customer services desk. It’s amazing how he always has a smile on his face and remembers repeat customers. And finally, thanks to Miguel and Violetta at the guest services desk. They did a great job of advising us of the latest tours and activities. Looking forward to returning next year. Lance

Nice stay at the resort in December
We just came back from a week at the resort, and overall it was a very good experience. The staff were excellent, and the entertainment was enjoyable both at the small venue and throughout the resort. The food offered a good variety and was easy to access. The hotel was not at full capacity during our stay, which made everything feel even more comfortable. There is some construction going on, but it wasn’t very noisy or disruptive. The beach is lovely with easy access, and the pool is a great size. Staff were attentive at every level. We were fortunate to have a room on the 15th floor with beautiful views and sunsets. The small fridge was stocked with beer and sodas, which was a nice touch. I also really liked the size of the hotel — not too big, not too small. My favourite part was the entertainment in the lounge, where different singers performed every night. It was a small, charming venue and added to the experience. One suggestion: it would be great if the resort updated the tennis court and considered combining the area for pickleball as well. Overall, a delightful stay! We will go back. Andrew Toronto Canada

Relaxing and enjoyable
Staff were amazing and friendly. Food was very good especially at the Lucianos restaurant. Rooms were clean with great views of the ocean. Definitely more of an older crowd with a lot of people having time shares so new a lot of places to go in town and things to do. Overall a good experience.

Overall a great vacation, very clean, friendly, nice staff, although the language barrier was frustrating at times. The food was excellent and the presentation was of a Michelin star restaurant, kudos to the chefs! I would recommend having someone watching your personal belongings at the poolside and beach at all times, as locals are entering the resort via the beach and stealing money, wallets, phones, sunglasses, anything they can re-sell. Also, for those who want to connect to the free WiFi service, after you enter your room number and information, the first option that pops up is a click bait on Premium WiFi, and they charge $8/day for the internet. Make sure you scroll all the way down to the free WiFi option. Another tip, transportation to/from airport should be between 300-500 pesos ($15-25), everything more than that is a ripoff and scam, negotiate prices before you step into a taxi.

Relax and Rejuvenate!
We love the Sunset Plaza! This beautiful resort has everything - incredible food, amazing views, and the best staff. We also enjoyed a beachside massage that was fantastic! We can’t wait to come back!
