Beach is amazing but service not so much
Depends on what your priorities are... if you love the beach, this place is amazing. The rooms are mediocre and service was sadly terrible. Some staff were lovely, most were not. Remember, you are on island time and no one will be in a big hurry. Food was decent, buffet was better than expected. If you want spoiled and amazing luxury amenities, this isn't the place for you. If you want to prioritize time on the beach and exploring the island, then heck yes! The island itself was amazing. Make friends with a taxi driver and hire them for a day to tour the island. My kids, (11 and 7) spent hours and hours on the beach, swimming and snorkeling. The beach was never overly crowded and the snorkeling was incredible! Mambo beach is a quick 8 min walk and wonderful shopping and food. Sea Side Terrace, located directly to the west of Sunscape had great food!

Sunscape Curacao? - No! Island of Curacao? - YES!
In our guest room, lighting was poor. There was no lighting in the shower. There were no receptacles in the bathroom, although a hair dryer was in the bathroom. The bathroom mirror was inoperable and cracked along the edges. There were cracks in the walls. Our closet sliding door was missing. Not all light switches worked. TV picture quality was poor. Channel options were very limited. Room Service did not answer their phone. The Sun Club staff start their day at 8:00 am, although they can technically order the guest's breakfast for room service, as early as 7:00 am. There were staff members with unacceptable attitudes, including telling guests to "Wait!", when we asked a question. Resort staff needs hospitality training, and an increase in standards. The grounds had hazards, including pool flooring, and pool area crumbling knee walls. The food, drink and dishes were continually running out. The tea variety was very limited or missing. Resort rules, hours, expectations and Code of Conduct were not clearly explained. Continually referring to the app/QR code was inadequate. No one escorted us to our room, which was disconcerting. The land side bartender required that a guest get in the pool to order a drink that only the pool side bartender made, rather than just turning around and asking him to make it. Our Oceana restaurant male server was extremely rude and dismissive. Buffet food nor coffee were hot. Food labels were missing, which made attention to allergies difficult to manage. Mocktails were not mentioned. The Oceana server served our meals separately without explanation. The meals took a long time to arrive. His service was wholly unacceptable. The food was tasty, but his service made the meal undesirable. The restaurant hours did not match the hours that were explained to us, and no one could explain why the restaurant was closed. At Bluewater Grill, food options were limited, particularly for guests with food allergies. Food nor coffee were hot. It took a long time to get served. The food was not very tasty. There did not seem to be enough staff to cook or serve. At World Cafe, food labels were missing. There was no clear attention to food allergies. Food nor coffee were hot. Service was efficient. The food was not very tasty. One server, Carmen, was superior. The handicap accessible entrance was locked with no staff monitoring the access. Tea options were limited, or nonexistent. Spoons were missing when tea or coffee was served. The coffee machines were sometimes broken. World Cafe ran out of plates, cups and glasses regularly. I did not feel special as a World of Hyatt member. We needed to be escorted to our room, because we had difficulty finding it on our own, even with the directions we were given. The Sun Club staff did not anticipate our needs, although they did answer questions that we asked. The Bell person was hard to find, and generally not helpful. There needs to be paper reference material, rather than just the QR code or app. Room service was totally unacceptable and unresponsive. The person who did finally make deliveries was delightfully responsive. The spa experience was a highlight of our stay. Staff asked a lot of questions and were responsive to our needs. They gave us detailed information about access, treatment options and the facility. The ambience was soothing and appealing. The water in the men's shower was cold. The locker interiors were wooden, and had splinters. The robes and slippers were wonderful. The prices of the specials were affordable. The massage technicians were the BEST. Before reserving a room, we were not fully clear of the Sun Club "value", so it is hard to say how exclusive it would be. After our stay, it is still hard to say. At one point, the Sun Club staff gave me a made up story that my room service was next to be delivered. She said this for over two hours. Later that night, I saw what I think was my order on the hallway floor at the opposite end of the building. However, no one could explain why I did not get served that day. Room Service did not answer the telephone the entirety of my stay. Nonetheless, the island of Curacao was fascinating and fun. There is lots to do, and lots to see. If we return, we expect to definitely stay somewhere other than Sunscape Curacao.

Beautiful resort- met all expectations!
We traveled here over Christmas. We had been the year before on a cruise stop and had a 'resort for the day' at Mangrove Beach. We decided to checkout a different place this year and stay the week. Check in was easy. There are no wrist bands so our 18 year old always brought his license with him. This was the first time we did not have wristbands at an AI and we have been to over 20! Facilities were clean and well laid out. We did not do the Sunclub package and didn't regret it. The premium liquors seemed to be Jamison, Patron, Malibu, etc. But for mixed drinks, the well rum, tequila, vodka they used was decent. ROOMS- One worry was the AC because of several reviews. The AC was good, maybe too good. If you don’t have it in auto and it’s too low, you will freeze, especially at night. They only give you sheets, no blankets on bed. Our adult aged sons had the next room over and their tv was tiny. Our room next store had a much bigger TV. No idea why they differed. HBO and other stations available. WiFi was spotty further from the main buildings but overall good. BEACH/ POOL- Towel checkout was a joke- you can only get the towels for the people in your room, but my adult sons were in a separate room. Advice: Just fib and they give you the towels. But don’t dry them on the balcony- ours disappeared twice!! The pools look small but were never crowded, though kids were allowed in the adult only area:( Beaches were gorgeous but rocky getting in- water shoes optional- we never used ours. The water is amazing blue and the rock partition keeps the waves at bay. There are iguanas that walk around. Check out for water activities was limited hours due to Christmas, which they recognized 24, 25, and 26th. FOOD- Service was good. Tipping is optional but appreciated. There is no snack shack or grab and go food. No food is allowed outside of the restaurants but that does keep the birds from scavenging. Lunch at blue water grill was good but there were always 3 items on menu they didn’t have that day and it differed most days. Men did not need pants at any restaurant. Our crew wore them the first night and never again. Food was predictable for breakfast but decent. No reservations except for Hibachi. If you get to the restaurants before 630, no wait. 1. Hibachi was very good. We ate here twice! Recommend the Caesar:). This restaurant takes reservations (the day before or the day of only). 2. Italian was fair and was the longest we had to wait- Only night we went after 7 pm 3. Blue Water grill best dinner option for “fancy” 4. Oceana view was amazing. Food was ok. We bought the special surf and turf dinner for Christmas dinner fearing we wouldn’t have another option for that night, but the meal was worth it OTHER FUN- Our oldest loved the casino. He played blackjack a few times and was a winner!! Car rental and excursion booking on site was easy and quick. Information on events were hard to track- One night there were fireworks but we had no idea. Easy, safe walk to MAMBO beach area with lost of restaurants/ bars. Also where our Snorkel and sunset Catamaran excursion took off from. We ate at Ola's our last night which was great- gorgeous view, interesting food options and very good service. Plus live music. I would recommend this resort to anyone who comes to Curacao. We had a wonderful time and it was exactly what we wanted!

Horrible hotel in beautiful Curacao
The hotel was horrible. The staff was very inconsistent. Most were rude with very poor customer service. The property is dated. The bars are lackluster. The activities are bland. The food was not good and was never very hot unless it was coming directly off of the grill. I ordered room service and it never came. Thank God I had a personal concierge that had planned my week for me. Otherwise I would have had a horrible time in Curacao. Also Thank God Mood Beach and Mambo Beach was next door. When I would be bored I would just go over there for fun and food. Mambo Beach also had a great cigar lounge that my husband loved.

Christmas 2025
The hotel needs updating. We had one of 4 rooms with leaking air conditioning condenser. Even moved to another room - same thing. However, the BEACH is AWESOME. FOOD is pretty good. SUNCLUB only had premium liquor in one bar, however the PRIVATE Breakfast was great
