Main features paid for didn’t work and no comp
My husband and I did a get away as. Our Christmas present and picked Silver Legacy for their Player Suite so we could have the large soaking tub. Everything was great until at 10pm at night we discovered that the main reason that we booked the room, the large tub, would not plug as the plug was broken and last day we wanted to do is call maintenance at 10 o’clock at night or have to re pack our stuff and switch rooms on our special getaway. So we just let it be. The next morning at 6 AM. It was discovered that the coffee maker also did not work. When we went downstairs to talk to the front desk, they only were willing to compass the resort fee, which was maybe $40. So as much as we want to come back due to the overall vibe and amenities being good, the loyalty is lacking. A comped or half credit for a room for another stay would have been nice. If they reach out to make this right, then I’ll reconsider.

Silver Legacy Reno: A Reflection of Reno’s Decline
First Impressions Walking in from valet or shuttle drop off, the lobby smell hits immediately: a harsh mix of mildew and stale cigarette smoke. The lobby itself is dim, dated, and frankly depressing. Check In The front desk line was long and slow. Thankfully, the electronic kiosks worked well and saved time. If you stay here, skip the desk and use the kiosks. Rooms Once upstairs, things improved. The room was clean, reasonably comfortable, and surprisingly quiet, with a decent mountain view. The shower had excellent water pressure and temperature control. The dark silvery décor felt more gloomy than stylish, but at least the rooms seemed updated. Amenities Ice machines were available, but no filtered water. Instead, vending machines sold sodas and $4 bottles of Dasani. In 2025, that feels like a cynical money grab rather than hospitality. Safety and Location The area felt safe enough, but mostly because the streets were empty of cars and pedestrians. Reno itself seems hollowed out compared to years past, and Silver Legacy mirrors that emptiness. Overall Silver Legacy is a tale of two experiences: depressing, smelly lobby and entry areas, followed by decent rooms upstairs. If you can stomach the first impression, the stay improves. The property desperately needs investment in its public spaces. Right now, it feels like a dated reflection of Reno’s decline rather than a destination worth visiting.

Elevator travel time nightmare, smoky, cheap charging for water and coffee
Stayed here 4 nights during a dance convention in the hotel. 1 star because: -- elevator to room nightmare. I had been forewarned about elevator issues in these older hotels. I tried to get a room on lower floor, so I could use stairs. Was on 8th floor. At certain peak times, it took us 15-30 minutes to get up /down from room. Stairs were NOT an option. The most bizarre, convoluted design, that eventually takes you to an alarmed door and out onto street. Felt like a sci fi movie in the stair well. -- smoking. Most of us dancers forgot smoking is still allowed in these casinos. Dancing in smoky atmosphere is no fun for many of us. Flashbacks to 90s bars. Room was better, but still smoke permeated up there too. -- No easily available water. Between the 3 casinos (Silver legacy is connected to CircusCircus and Eldorado), I found 2 water fountains. At our dance, they tried to sell us the smallest bottles of water for too much money. -- In room coffee. They're using those Keurig machines. so you get your daily refill of pods. If you want more, you have to now BUY them at $2.25 each from hospitality or gift shop Overall, it seemed like these casinos would try to draw us in with cheap eats, cheap shows, other treats. Clearly the MBA's don't think they need to do this anymore. Reno felt like a failing city. The streets around the casino were dead in October.
