Saved Us In Our Time of Need
We got “stranded” when our first flight delayed due to the Kona Storm and missed our connection. The airline couldn’t rebook us for two days. It took us 3 hours of sitting in the rain in an area with no electricity to find this hotel. They by the grace of god had a room available! It was not a big room, but had a bed and a bathroom and it was clean, and that’s all we needed! The hotel is beautiful, very colorful, and all staff made us feel welcome. It was a little pricey but we were happy to pay and would definitely stay there again if ever given the chance!

Stylish design, but noisy, uncomfortable, and poor treatment of guests
I stayed at Shoreline Hotel Waikiki for one night from January 23–24, 2026 while in town for the BIA tradeshow. As a lighting designer, I was initially drawn to the colorful, playful design and relatively low price, and the location just a block from Kalakaua Avenue sounded ideal. Unfortunately, the actual experience did not match the appearance. The hotel is directly across from a Ross Dress for Less, and there were many people loitering around the entrance area, which did not feel welcoming when arriving with luggage. At check‑in I was charged a hotel/resort fee and a 100‑dollar refundable deposit that were not clearly disclosed in my original reservation. As of now, that deposit has still not been refunded. The room itself appeared fairly clean, and the design touches were nice, but the stay was not comfortable. The air conditioning unit was so loud that I could barely hold a phone conversation with it running. The bed linens were clean, but the mattress was extremely uncomfortable, and I did not sleep well. Check‑out was the worst part of the experience. I returned to my room a little before 11 a.m., assuming check‑out was at 12 p.m. The front desk called to inform me that check‑out was at 11 and did so in a surprisingly rude tone, immediately threatening additional charges. I apologized and said I was actively packing up to leave. Within about 15 minutes, security forcefully opened the door; the safety latch stopped them from entering, and they seemed surprised to see me clearly packing to walk out. This felt unnecessary, aggressive, and disrespectful. In summary, the designers have done a good job making this older property look fun and attractive, but beneath the bright colors the comfort, noise level, charges, and guest treatment were very disappointing. I would not choose to stay here again and would not recommend it to other travelers, especially those who value a comfortable night’s sleep and professional front‑desk service.

It is not a 4 star hotel
The hotel is in a excellent location. Right in the heart of everything. The staffs are friendly and helpful. But it is not what one expect for a 4 star rating hotel. The negative side is overall condition of the hotel is quite run down. Rooms are tiny and tight space all around. All facility overall are quite dated . The rooftop swimming pool is a joke. It looks like it has been abandoned for years. Dirty and not useable at all. Hotel security is also weak. No key card access is require to the elevator. Meaning anybody can walk in the hotel and have access to your floor. And there quite a few occasion the front reception desk and the lobby area is empty with no staff.

Comfy hotel in great location
The location of the Shoreline is perfect. The beach is an 8 minute walk, and everything you need is close by. The room was nice, bed was comfortable, and I really had a comfortable one-week stay. I will definitely stay here again. Although the hotel (and room) is nice, this is in a very densely packed part of Waikiki, so there is some outdoor noise.

Great location and friendly service
I really enjoyed my stay at Shoreline. The location is excellent. I was in the heart of Waikiki and so close to Royal Hawaiian Center and International Marketplace. I was in town for keiki hula since my daughter was competing with her halau. Got around with Uber/Lyft and walking. Shoreline is an older property, but such a cute renovated boutique hotel with friendly service and little touches that made for such a pleasant stay. The staff was able to refrigerate the lei I was traveling with and get me into my room early. The lobby was beautiful and vibrant. Fresh complimentary coffee was served every morning. My room was equally eclectic. The complimentary chips and canned juice were nice. The bed was comfortable, room was clean, and great shower water pressure. The phone charging stand and UV sanitizer box remote was convenient. Lots of places to shop and eat nearby.
