Awesome day today 🤩🎉👍
We arrived today at 4pm and hung around the pool for a few drinks with our friends Gama, Mariano and Marco. Always fantastic service by the pool. Then a quick shower and a visit to the lobby bar. I missed our server’s name but simply awesomely attentive. Then time to eat. Off to the buffet we go. We were served by Jennifer. We’ve been coming here for 10+ years and never have had such a friendly and personable person be our food guide. Jennifer was awesome, the other buffet staff were very helpful and this is the type of experience, on our first day, that sets a high bar for our week.

Great Resort, But a Cautionary Experience
We really enjoyed many aspects of this resort! The ocean view from our room was incredible, the food was excellent and the location close to the Malecon was perfect. The resort was very clean and the staff were friendly and attentive, which made our stay even better. However, we did experience an unfortunate incident that future guests should be aware of. The beach chairs are set up in a roped-off area reserved for guests, though off-site vendors do pass by regularly. The ocean isn't ideal for swimming, so we decided to spend a bit of time relaxing under the thatched palapas enjoying the view. When we went for a quick swim in the pool, we felt comfortable leaving our bag under our chair since there was a lifeguard, security, and waitstaff in the area. When we returned, our phones and other electronics were gone, and noticeably, no staff were nearby anymore. Hotel management (Jose) was very helpful and provided us with complimentary access to a phone and computer as well as extended services on our day of departure, which we appreciated. Still, the situation definately put a damper on an otherwise great vacation. Overall, we liked the resort and would consider returning - but we want to remind other travellers not to let their guard down with personal belongings, even in areas that feel secure.

Had a great time
My family of 4, (kids ages 16 & 18) stayed here all-inclusive for a week. Overall, we had a great time. We usually stay in Cancun but wanted a different vacation this time and so we booked this resort. It was appealing to us because it is fairly close to the airport (20 mins by taxi 140 pesos) and also close to the Malecon (65 pesos taxi ride). The Malecon was a great walk, and they still had the light up Day of the Dead decorations up, and it was very busy with people. Fun to see. FOOD: At this resort, some guests are all-inclusive and some are time share guests. Because of this, we found that the buffet wasn’t as busy some nights so there weren’t as many food options. On the busier nights (weekends) there were many more food options at the buffet which was nice. (Buffet hostesses and waiters are all so friendly and fabulous). It is possible to book as many specialty restaurants as you like, as often as you like. Booking those requires visiting the concierge desk between 8am and 12pm. The best dinner restaurant was Punta Sal. They had great steak and seafood options. Some of the higher end items aren’t included in the all-inclusive but that didn’t bother us as the included options were great. We were waited on Lizeth, Daniel, and David. They were fantastic. We went another day for lunch at Punta Sal and the options weren’t as good. The lunch menu was mostly seafood, which we don’t eat a lot of. In fact, most of the specialty restaurants have a lot of seafood on their menus. In the restaurant’s the food takes quite awhile to come out. This was the biggest downfall of the resort in our opinion. The worst was Gaviotas. We waited for 1 hour and 30 mins for our food and finally had to leave and go to the buffet. We did bring this to the attention of the resort and their solution was for us to return the next night and they would have our food out in less than 30 mins. I’m not sure how that would work if it took over 3 times that amount of time the first time so we weren’t willing to risk it. We went to a couple of the outdoor themed dinners, with Mariachi bands. Those were fun. Overall, this wouldn’t be a great resort for picky eaters, or for those that don’t want to eat in the buffet for dinner every night. There aren’t always many food options to choose from on every menu and at the buffet when the resort is quieter. DRINKS: The drinks here are delicious. They really know how to make delicious margaritas! Every drink we tried was really good. POOL: The pool service is excellent here. The waiters are attentive and always around. We were served by waiters and bartenders Gama, Juan, Rooster, Pedro, and others and they were all excellent. We really enjoyed the food at the pool. Unlimited guacamole! Hamburgers, chicken nuggets, pizza, chef salad, salsa, to name a few options. The pool temperature was great. Not so freezing it’s impossible to get in, yet not too warm. There are 2 pools. The one pool has a hot tub hidden over the little bridge and it’s actually warm! The first actually heated hot tub I’ve been in in Mexico. The pool towels are nice and big and operate on a towel card system. We never had an issue getting chairs by the pool. ROOM: We had a garden view room and it had a patio with chairs and a table. No ocean view but we prefer this over an ocean view room with no balcony. The air conditioning worked great. The beds are double beds, not queens. The room is a decent size, the bathroom and sink area is really small. I saw that room service wasn’t included, there was a fee for that, but by the sounds of another review it was included? Unsure on that but we didn’t need room service. BEACH: The beach is rocky, but a short walk over it is sandy. It was calm enough to go in when we were there. The life guard cautioned us to swim away from the rocks as there are sea urchins on them. Our kids rode the horses and we went for many beach walks. There are vendors if you’re looking for souvenirs. The sunset is beautiful. ENTERTAINMENT: The daytime entertainment was great. All of the entertainment staff are fantastic. Ping pong, minute to win it, craft of the day, drink tasting, volleyball, water aerobics, blackjack, etc. All very fun! I did see on the schedule that there is evening entertainment from 8-9:30 in the evening but I didn’t see it unless they mean the band in the lobby bar which was there on occasion or the band at the themed outdoor dinners. Otherwise I didn’t see any other entertainment.

Don't expect English speaking movie channels. If you like Fox news and CNN you'll be happy.
My one star rating is not reflective of the property, entertainment and server staff, but with the lack of tech support staff, which is non existant. There is a specific Tech office where a young lady sits staring at her huge computer screen. She is only a receptionist and knows nothing about tech support, she is useless. We are here for 14 days and it's only been the last 4 days that we started to complain about the lack of English speaking channels, irrespective that the staff insist there are 10 English speaking channels. Fox news and a couple of CNN channels are the only English channels. The staff blatantly LIE when they say someone will be up, because it never happens, and then they ultimately ghost you because they can't help you. While we didn't come to Mexico to watch TV, having said that, we also don't stay up late and so it would at least be nice to watch a movie before bed. For a 4star Mariott hotel it's inconceivable that this is such a problem with no apparent solution and the 'So sorry" is a pathetic response. We travel extensively and normally book Fairmont hotels and now I know why. So frustrating and if I ever return to PV, I will definitely consider other hotel choices.

All Spanish in tv except for 3 news stations
Sand in front is coarse and rocky. Food is great at Punta Sol. The 5 star gaviotas is a 3 dressed up like a 5. The grilled vegetables was a thick hunk of eggplant with 3 paper thin slices of zucchini and tomato. Had to hit the buffet for a salad afterwards. But the worst thing is the TV. Only 5 stations in English all American news.(Had several English stations when we arrived but after power outage al Spanish speaking only with Spanish subtitles. I called and they said they would be right up. No one came. I called the next day the said they would get back to me they never did. Very unprofessional! This made me forget about any of the good attributes of this property
