PV is so fantastic...
Partner was working most of the week we were there, just had to get to warm weather. Opted for the All-inclusive as it was a good deal, and got a huge master suite on the Club level. Club lounge was great for breakfast and during happy hour (5-8) served wine and food as well. For people on the fence I'd recommend booking the Club level for the lounge but not doing the all-inclusive--breakfast there is fine and for the nights you don't want to go out (so many options close by!) you can get by in the lounge with the free wine and food. Buffet is decent (amazing salad options), lunch by the pool was great--burgers and wings were fantastic. We also tried the Seafood restaurant and the Italian and they were decent but not great. My highlights were the gym and hydrotherapy cicuit at the spa ($50 US per day)--should have done that every day! They will also serve you drinks in the spa and although I'm not 100% sure I don't think it matters if you are an all-inclusive guest or not so something to check and consider. Service throughout was very good, and no complaints other than despite being on the Club level we still had to go down to the lobby in the morning to reserve at the a la carte restaurants, but did not have any long waits or issues with getting them (we eat late though). View from the room and terrace are breathtaking, one of the best sunsets! Main pool was busy and kind of party party and the usual people hogging all the chairs. There is another pool over by the timeshares that was quieter and easier to get chairs and there is a decent sized hot tub in the middle as well as another swim up bar. Dockside service seemed a little spotty but I just walked to the sim up bar and no issues. Pro tip - over by the timeshares there are great sitting areas near the beach/breakwall to watch the sunset, amazing and was never busy. The beach itself is pretty rocky and the swimming didn't look great so never tried it. We ended up moving up to Sayulita and San Poncho (about an hour up the coast and only a $55 CDN uber) for the last four days and loved the change, hotel had no problem with us cancelling and giving refund. Definitely get out to the old zone (30 min walk or very cheap uber) so many great bars and restaurants, and I would recommend a day trip to Sayulita, San Pancho and just a little farther is a very chill little town called Lo de Marcos with the most amazing mostly vacant beach. Ubers are so cheap and abundant, taxis as well are pretty cheap. The Uber drivers will all go 'off' Uber if you contact them directly and make plans to book rides, they were all super friendly and accommodating. In Sayulita we also rented a Polaris 2 seater ATV and while a bit unnerving, you are able to take it on the highway (!) so we spent an entire day driving up and down the coast. Great experience! Otherwise the souped-up golf carts for rent are only for the roads in town, no highways. Sayulita is a little crazy during the season, but we stayed at a great boutique hotel on the north end of the beach which was much more chill and only a 15 min walk into town (or rent a golf cart). Loved PV and missed the cartel 'excitement' by a couple weeks. I'll definitely go back but not likely to the Sheraton as there are so many great spots to try. But I do recommend it!

Nice resort but not great for beach/water sports
Lovely well maintained resort, albeit a bit dated in the time share suites. Lots of pool area and seating with umbrellas - get down before 9:30 if you want a good spot! Buffet was well presented and had plenty of options. We enjoyed the stand alone restaurants a few nights - service was better in some than others, but the food was fine. I expected more children’s programming in the pool area as a kid’s club is advertised, but all kids activities are in a small building between the pool areas. We took advantage of cookie making one day. Cleaning service daily was very good. Close enough to walk to the Malecon. The beach is rocky and not great for swimming either as there are large rocks in the water. 500 m down the beach there are swimming areas.

Come to Puerto Vallarta, is better than ever
We love Puerto Vallarta and the Sheraton. We have been coming here for 20 years. This year was special, we had to stay in the hotel for a couple of days because of some disturbances in the city. Non the less, staff was really professional, courteous and they let us feel at home as they always do. Puerto Vallarta is one of the best places to visit in Mexico as a tourist. I would come one and a million times, without a doubt. I recommend anyone to come and to not fear the news, as it is a safe and friendly place
