    Sensira Resort Riviera Maya

My wife and I spent a week at Sensira Resort. The staff was friendly and helpful. The resort was clean. The food was good. The only complaint about the food was the food at the buffet was sometimes cold. The buffet opened for breakfast at 7 and we got there around that time. The bacon, waffles, etc was cold. I believe it was due to them making it early to get it ready for breakfast but it wasn't in the warmer for very long so it was still cold. Not a big deal. I liked that they had a separate pool for adults only. The suite we booked said adults only so I was guessing the room area was adults only, but we were probably just on the end of the adults only rooms and the next room had a child that screamed multiple times a day, but only for several minutes. Not the resort's fault, I knew it wasn't an adult's only resort and it is full of child-friendly things to do. I did yoga pretty much every day. Zania in the gym was the instructor and she is very nice. She is friendly and welcoming in her classes. She took the time to visit with the students and get to know a little about us. She is a wonderful addition to their staff. I also wanted to mention our pool waitress Janitzia. She was always smiling and was very friendly. She knew what drinks we wanted and would come by often to see if we needed anything. Our room had a nice rain shower head. The water pressure was good and we always had hot water right away. I've been to some resorts that didn't have hot water and/or the water pressure was bad. Our suite had a hot tub in it and it filled up really quickly. The last resort we went to had a hot tub on our patio and took about an hour to fill, but it was a bit bigger size too. I love that our bracelets had the room key built in. It's so nice to not worry about carrying a separate card for that. I also loved that you don't need a card for the towels, you can just grab a fresh towel by the pool when you need one. I would recommend this resort.

Great for kids and OK all round. Bit Isolated.

This is a good hotel - and is very kid centric catering for kids of all ages. We stayed for a week over Christmas 2025. The resort is all inclusive and expensive if booked standalone but bundled with a flight it can be a better deal. The hotel itself is isolated from any other amenities and is reached by a very bad and bumpy road. If it rains hard then some Uber drivers refuse to go to the hotel. Having said that everyone gets here in the end - its just disappointing that a 5 star hotel doesn't make an effort to fix the road. The week we stayed was very windy - which is not the hotels fault and can often be this time of year, however this did not result in huge accumulations of seaweed, but made the sea a bit murky and very few people swam in it. But there are 4 pools including an adults only and a kids pool. Puerto Morelos is only a $20 CA Uber ride away and has an excellent beach with snorkeling. I have read several reviews critical of the food - but I think it was pretty good. The buffet was a little repetitive but should have a wide enough variety for most tastes. There are 4 restaurants, the Mexican and Italian are first come first served, the steakhouse reservation only, and the French restaurant is adults only, only open limited days and you need to be at the concierge desk well before booking opens at 9 o'clock to get a place. Bar has everything you could want in the lobby there is also a pub and the usual beach bar plus loads of places to get snacks. Rooms are big and very clean with a minibar. Kids cinema, trampolines, climbing wall zipline, 3 kids clubs for different ages. My biggest beef was it was virtually impossible to get small change for tips. This is bad for the local economy because people are rationing their tips even if they have small change. There is no reason why front desk couldn't keep a big supply of 20 pesos and dollar bills for all the guests - they could even charge a commission to change them - a lot of people were frustrated and a bit embarrassed. The ATM also only dispense US dollars in large denominations - which IMO is ridiculous. So if you are staying for a week i would say bring $10 per day in dollar bills per person and you should be covered. Overall a pretty good experience - we may have stayed somewhere a bit less isolated if we weren't travelling with our children and grandkids - but the kids had a really fun time. The entertainment is a bit Meh IMO. But not my bag any way. Lip synching and dancing.

    Would not go again

The only reason I didn't do one stay is because I'm sure somewhere in the world there is a worst resort. But this one is close to the bottom. Did context, my family has stayed in American Fiesta (both), Hyatt Ziva, Barcelo Maya, Villa del Palmar, Grand Palladium Katenah and many more we dont even remember anymore. This one ranks at the bottom for food, near bottom for amenities and bottom service. Food - dont need it to be gourmet level. But quality is definitely low. For example, the pancakes are made by same machine that you get at the free breakfast at a $75 per night Holiday Inn. What's more, you definitely get a sense they cheap out. Like buffet would have half the station closed. Things won't get refilled. Long lines for everything. No variety day to day. Lack of basic things- no bacon at breakfast or guacamole ever in the 5 days we were there. Only one buffet for breakfast. I can go on but honestly not seen any worse. The dinners were OK. Steak restaurant had a great menu but everything was over salty and service was slow. Resort definitely phoning it in. Amenities - just a few pools. They then walled off a section for adults (fine for me) but jacuzzi is that section. Pools were not heated ever so unless was very hot outside, you cant use the pools. Lots of things were broken down or just unmanned. Movie theater was nice but the movies would not start at advertised, etc. Service - this one is sad as it is lowest hanging fruit. Mexico is filled with friendly and cheap labor and somehow the resort managed to mess this up. Service was very slow. Not because the servers were slow, they did their best and were friendly. But it was obvious there were not enough of them. They would run out of towels 30 minutes at time. Coffee station would be unmanned when supplies run out. Buffet would always have lines even though restaurant was half empty. I could go on and on.
