Best resort experience I've had
We had the best time at Secrets during the Christmas week. I was afraid it would be too crowded but it wasn't at all. We could easily settle by the pools, eat at any restaurant, enjoy the beach club. The resort being adults only makes such a difference. I'm already sad we had to leave, best resort everything I've ever had.

Awesome Family Vacation
Our family had a wonderful stay at Secrets Tulum. Enjoyed the food, drinks and the beach club. Shout out to our remarkable concierges Martin and Luis, who went over and beyond to make our stay comfortable and extra special. Martin is very knowledgeable and gave us a great intro to the local culture and customs. He answered all our questions patiently and we learned so much. Absolutely top notch!

3-year anniversary
My wife and I celebrated our three-year anniversary at Secrets Tulum, booking the Master Suite with a rooftop plunge pool. We planned a truly relaxing escape, and since we don’t drink, the culinary experience was a major reason we chose an all-inclusive resort. Check in process: We were disappointed to be told our room wasn’t ready at check-in, and then immediately offered a tour of another resort the next morning in exchange for $200 in coupons. What wasn’t explained upfront is that the coupons can’t be combined or used on the same item each coupon applies to a different service, and only one coupon can be used per transaction. For example, you can’t apply $200 off a $370 massage. While some guests may enjoy the tour and the perks, the upselling felt out of place at a 5 star, all-inclusive property and wasn’t the experience we were hoping for. Room: The room was the standout of our stay truly exceptional. Our master suite with a private plunge pool was expansive, with two separate toilet areas and double vanities for my wife and me. We loved the dual tubs (one in the bathroom and one on the balcony overlooking the pool) and the large, comfortable bed oriented toward a wall of windows for sunset views. There was even a six seat dining table, which we didn’t end up using but appreciated having. The private rooftop was a highlight, with multiple seating options ideal for sunbathing and listening to music, plus a plunge pool offering sweeping views. We didn’t use the rooftop pool since it was cold; a heated pool or hot tub would have been perfect. The only disappointment was housekeeping on day two: we received four towels with noticeable stains, and our replacement request did not result in clean towels. . Drinks: From the start we made it clear that we don’t drink, and we confirmed whether the resort offered any zero proof cocktails or N/A beers. The concierge said no, which set expectations, but at restaurants, the alcohol pitch was persistent, and a few remarks landed poorly when we declined. We realize that many guests come for the bar program, but a simple note on our profile would have helped. Then, on our second to last night, a server offered non alcoholic cocktails surprising given we’d been told early on that none existed, and highlighting an inconsistency in communication. . Food: Going in, the resort’s dining was what we were most eager to experience. The menus are thoughtfully crafted lots of dishes that sound genuinely compelling and the Preferred Club gave us two exclusive venues, which felt special. Still, the follow-through didn’t match the promise: flavors and ingredient quality often fell short of what the menu suggested. On the positive side, the smaller portion sizes were smart they reduce waste and let you explore more of the menu. Bluewater Grill: Our first dinner at the resort was set in a beautiful, tree lined outdoor space that felt almost forest like wonderful ambience. The food, however, was uneven. My wife’s scallop dish arrived mixed together, with no discernible scallop pieces, and the butter served with the warm bread was frozen, making it unusable. My steak was decent not outstanding, but enjoyable. The “catch of the day,” which we expected to be fresh given the location, looked and tasted more like a frozen tilapia. Jasmine (preferred breakfast spot): Jasmine, one of the preferred breakfast venues, was a clear highlight. The daily juice was genuinely fresh, and the trio of yogurt parfaits: strawberry, chocolate, and exotic were consistently delicious. French toast and waffles looked beautiful and tasted just as good. My wife especially enjoyed the poached eggs and crisp hash browns. Buffet: We tried the buffet twice breakfast on day two and the Christmas Eve dinner. The spread was generous, but execution lagged: some items appeared to sit out too long (we saw cheese melting at a station), and several chafing dishes had scorched bottoms or food fused together, suggesting overly high heat or slow replenishment. The broccoli soup lacked body and tasted diluted. On the positive side, the waffles and French toast were nicely done, and the smoked salmon with a bagel was fresh and satisfying. Portofino: This was the restaurant we were most excited to try we visit Italy annually to see my wife’s family, so Italian food is close to our hearts. The starters impressed: my beef carpaccio, was delicious, and the meat and cheese board with olive oil and bread was outstanding. Unfortunately, the mains missed the mark. My wife’s Genovese pesto pasta with potatoes and peasan uncommon but beloved regional dish was overcooked and the pesto lacked depth. My Diavola pizza arrived with a floppy, underbaked crust and an overly sweet, bright orange sauce that didn’t taste like a proper tomato base. Dessert was mixed: an excellent tiramisu, but a panna cotta with a gelatinous, tube molded texture that didn’t showcase the dish’s usual silky set. Grotto: (preferred spot) We enjoyed snacking at the grotto: the views of the preferred pool were great, and my wife liked both the guacamole and shrimp dish. One suggestion: the burrito’s protein tasted pre prepared rather than freshly cooked. A fresher filling would elevate the experience to match the setting. Room Service: We tried room service just once. The coffee flan arrived with a gelatinous, uneven texture that didn’t showcase the depth or creaminess we expected. The pork tacos were the bigger letdown: crunchy, deep fried pieces with little meat, instead of the tender, well marinated al pastor we typically enjoy in Mexico. It’s a dish that should sing; this rendition didn’t. Coco Café: A cozy, inviting café with consistently great coffee and a satisfying scoop of ice cream. The smoothie was pleasant, though it lacked the freshness you get from real fruit. Beachside Grill: Twenty minutes from the property, the beach club’s grill became an unexpected highlight. We spent our second to last day there, soaking in sweeping ocean views from plush loungers. The plates were memorable: bright, crisp Baja tacos, fragrant fried rice, and a shredded pork taco that stole the show with its fresh, tender meat and vibrant marinade. The contrast in quality between the beach club and the main resort was striking. Spa: Our couples massage was fantastic easy to schedule, smooth check-in, and truly relaxing. One suggestion: skip product upsells right before the treatment (e.g., candle add-ons). It detracts from the otherwise refined, five star feel after guests have already purchased the service. Overall: So overall: The master suite and spa were standout highlights, and the beach club food impressed, but aggressive upselling with restrictive coupons, inconsistent restaurant execution, limited nonalcoholic options, and a few service lapses (like dirty towels and pushy alcohol service) kept the stay from meeting 5 star, all-inclusive expectations.
