Beautiful Resort; our butler Emmanuel was excellent, I would highly recommend his services. Restaurants were ok. Japanese restaurant was the best along with the American Buffet

Mar 15, 2026great rooms, but two tier system is annoying
We typically go 2x year for 2 weeks to Punta Cana. Over the last 20 years we seen the growth and the pros and cons of many resorts along the various beaches. This time we chose Secrets Tides for 13 days. They pride themselves with “unlimited Luxury” and best in class service, restaurants, drinks and so on to create lasting memories. So lets dig a little bit deeper Rooms: Top notch rooms with well functioning A/C in top condition. Only downer was the key card instead of a wristband key fob. Service: Generally, plenty of staff available with good and friendly attitude. Only improvement could be the order taker in the various restaurants. They seem to lack knowledge of the specific menu items and/or can’t explain it properly leading to a lot of waste since the customer exception was somewhat different. A display of the actual menu items might help. Beach: Very clean, only a few weeds which get cleaned up by 7 am Pool 3 Pools. One is reserved for preferred club. Nice depth around 4 to 5 feet making it a pleasure to wander back and forth. We spend our time at the Manatees bar pool. One has to be an early riser if you want a specific spot with an umbrella and rattan loungers with a mattress. If you only show up at 9 am, you end up with no umbrella and only uncomfortable aluminum loungers with no mattress. What aggravates the shortage is people double booking loungers at the pool and then spend most of the day at the beach. Very annoying is the fact the “preferred club” guests also spent their day at this pool rather than staying at their own pool. Only 1 underground washroom (in the dungeon) within reasonable distance from our pool. Not an option for people with walking limitations. Restaurants: All a la carte restaurants are good to excellent with the Tierra (Amazon) being the best and the Portofino at the bottom of the list. Not much choices there with rather simple uninspiring dishes. Teppanyaki table is overhyped. Nothing special sticks out except the complicated and time-consuming reservation process. There is no reservation system for all the other restaurants. However, “Preferred Club” guests seem to have a faster access to tables, even though the hotel denies that. Drinks: By no means premium. Usage of concentrates and domestic beer and liquer are the norm. Other more reasonable hotels in the vicinity offer a much better experience. For example, no Corona beer or Baileys etc. Of course, if you are “Preferred club” you have access to all this. To my defense I already paid a premium of this hotel and now I get serviced with just average 3-to-4-star drinks. Evening entertainment: Great early evening lobby entertainment with a live band playing a wide spectrum of popular music. Conclusion: The resort overdoes it the “Preferred club” privileges. This 2 tier system is in your face all day long as a normal “unlimited luxury” guest.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana
Through Apple Vacations, our Preferred Club Secrets Tides Punta Cana experience was great! We wanted a down and relaxing beach vegetation vacation and we got it! The beach was clean (except for those who are okay with throwing cigarette butts and lime slices on the sand). There were hawkers selling all sorts of goods every day, strolling by and asking every day if we'd like to make a purchase. Also must mention those who 'save' their beach or poolside chairs by putting a towel on premium spots...and never show up to use them. By the 3rd day, we realized we could just occupy those seats because there were plenty of other wonderful spots to enjoy. Secrets Tides Punta Cana is a VERY well oiled machine! The staff all know their jobs and do them very well, with many staff members who are outstanding service providers and people as a whole! The Preferred Club poolside bar was so much fun with fun bartenders and other travellers. The entire property was exceptionally clean, pristine and exquisitely beautiful! We celebrated our 38th Wedding Anniversary and everyone, I mean EVERYONE celebrated with us, for us, and made us feel very special! If you like a larger property with lots of people, non stop DELICIOUS beverage and food, glorious beaches with powder soft sand, large pool options, this is the place for you. Also have to say we are not buffet people, but the Market Cafe for breakfast and dinner was beyond belief offering such a mindblowing selection of choices. Also number 2, other reviews we'd seen on Youtube said the property next door would be loud and rowdy - known as the Party Property. Because of this we strongly requested a suite far away from that property, but it did not end up that way and we were right along the fence line to that property. Absolutely NO interference, loud music or noise was experienced whatsoever. We stayed in 2470 which had a beautiful ocean view with many swaying palm trees... always welcome since we are from the midwest USA!

JC and The Entertainment Team at Tides are AMAZING!
We had THE best girls trip ever at Tides! The resort is beautiful, the beach is beautiful, the rooms are clean, and the staff is AMAZING! Special shout out to the Entertainment Team, specifically JC! JC was fun, personable, friendly, and kept us dancing. He showed genuine interest in ensuring that we had a great time. This was one of our best vacations. Top notch!

Excellent Stay at Secrets Tides Punta Cana
It was our 2nd visit to Secrets Tides and overall we loved it! The staff is amazing! Special thanks to Mayra from the Entertainment staff. We met Mayra on our first visit and she instantly remembered us when we arrived and was so happy to see us. She was so welcoming and fun to hang out with all week! Teddy, Gregory and Jason were always super nice and fun as well! The ladies in the Coco cafe are just perfect and know how to make amazing coffees and always with a smile and nice conversation. We upgraded to Preferred and Jamie was our butler for the week. He was absolutely amazing and always ensured we had everything we needed! The restaurants need some work but that was already being addressed when we were there and by the end of the stay the food really did reach a higher standard which is expected from a Secrets property!
